I have this cable pedal. Like the guy says, it's very solid, responsive, and well built. The only teensy problem is that the cable breaks really easily. I broke mine on the first gig. I managed to fix it by replacing the broken cable with a high quality bicycle brake cable and it's worked fine ever since.
perfect for camping / outdoor music festivals / acoustic jamming... the mounted "snare" is a fair compromise for simplicity, transport and generally less hardware. WANT IT!
I love the idea of creating a drumset using percussion instruments like a standing ashiko, djembes and doumbeks on stands surrounded by various cymbals and chimes but nothing meinl brand.
@Riley D a set isn't that hard to move around. Sure, it's more difficult than moving a bass that's also your seat and a hi hat, but it's not like you're relocating the Giza pyramids
I agree although these individual items are all quite pricey. Those pedals are definitely specialist items right now. We need more people to buy this stuff before we do so we can benefit from the economies of scale! 😆
+Paul I. I get that, but the name is "Drum Set Cajon" I would like to have a sound suitable to mimics the function of a snare. Indeed a the rim of the cajon already do that! Again I really like the idea but I think it can be certainly improved.
+Osvaldo Martin hi... I get that this kind of cajon can not be played as a snare cajon??? I checked another video and the superior part of the cajon doesn't sounds like others you play with your hands... please, explain me a little bit more about this because I wanna buy it but I'm not sure if I will have to buy a snare cajon as well. thanks!!!
Ive never heard of anyone doing this and ive certainly never done it myself but you could try using a real snare but with one of those Evans soundoff drum mutes, they reduce the noise by about 80% and still sound pretty decent. Just a thought
you want me to check you out on twitter, facebook, instagram, sign up for your newsletter, and subscribe to your channel before the video even starts? fuck that
I bought this kit and the cable broke on the pedal during the 3rd practice. I returned it and got a new one and it did the same thing. We're really bummed out, this is a neat little kit. I hope they get that worked out.
You can put one together for less money. cajon, hi-hat stand with cymbals, snare stand and snare, cajon pedal. If you're a drummer you probably have everything you need except the cajon. Be creative.
GodlyDrmmr Productions I actually built one for under $300. Still Meinl Cajon, hats, Cajon snare, LP bongos, and Gibraltar pedal and hi hat stand. Just watch eBay and you can find all these items way cheaper. The hi hat stand alone by itself is almost $200!!! Still a great product!!!
GodlyDrmmr Productions hows that a steal? I thought itd be like 100 bucks max. Im new to drums and everything so why is this more expensive then a regular drumset i mean its original proce is 1000 which is absurd
It really seems like this is targeted at existing cajon players who may not have any gear, rather than drumset players who have a lot of this already. Replacing the snare with a small model like a Gretsch Blackhawk or Pearl Firecracker would give a way better snare sound. Same for replacing the cajon with a floor tom and regular bass drum pedal. Take an L-arm or Dunnett mount for the floor tom to mount a crash/ride and you've still got a pretty compact kit without any cymbal stands. If you're so space-constrained that a converted floor tom won't work for you, then using it as a seated cocktail bass is another option. But with hats and a decent carrying case, I still don't see you doing significantly better than $600 new: your floor tom will be $100, hi-hat stand $75, snare $75, floor tom conversion kit $75, hats $150, bass drum pedal $50, case (doubles as throne) $100. Used, of course, is a different story, and I imagine you could get everything for less than $400, with much nicer hats (say some used Zildjian As or Sabian AAs) and fresh heads for the floor tom. Going compact gets expensive compared to a used Pearl, Tama, or Yamaha kit off Craigslist.
Ive been trying o pair down my Sonor kit because it has a 20x20 kick that is to big for clubs. I regularly play cajon but have been trying to come up with something in between. this hits it. But I can use what I have, including my 14" snare. still uses less space that my full kit.
The price of this thing defeats its purpose (simplicity, affordability), because for $600 you can buy a very decent (maybe used) real drum set with real snares, keeping only the parts you'd need if you have limited space; so this niche isn't gonna fly I'm afraid..
Hi! Great video. I would like to ask if you´ve been able to play for more than five minutes without any maladjustments of the piece which connects the rotating axis of the right foot with the cable? Since the axis is a cylinder with no marks, the piece moves, no matter how tight you try to fix it with the provided key... I don´t know if it is a design problem or just my unit has some problem.
Yes, it seems expensive and I probably wont buy it for that price.... but... At least in my neck of the woods the pedal goes for around $200, and the high hats plus stand would be another $200, the cajon and snare would have to be worth at least another $200. I really dont know that they could sell it for too much less and still make money. It would be far better for jamming with acoustic instruments than a regular kit, but yes, still seems pricy.
i generally don't comment on comments, but i can't believe how many viewers are totally missing the point of this product. for the folks that want to play a pearl export drum set, then, buy one -- why waste your time watching the video? obviously, the point of this product/video has nothing to do with your goals. it's the perfect apples and oranges scenario. someone buys this because they different needs. so, you think $600 is too much? try adding up the price of a decent quality cajon, high hat stand, high hat cymbals, remote bass drum pedal, carry case, and the extras and see how much that costs. do you think meinl is in the business of giving you gear at their cost? i bought a better version of this through de gregorio in spain, paid a lot more -- and have never looked back. i made ten times my investment because i was able to say yes to venues and gigs that i would have otherwise had to turn down if i only had a traditional drum set. plus, you can use the cajon by itself with your hands when the circumstances require it.
Sounds good to me. $600 may be a touch much but everyone wants the best deal possible. $500 would be better to me as far as a good deal goes. Also, not all venues require a full on drum set not to mention people may live in an area where drums wouldn't be appropriate. There's a lot of percussion options out there. Pick what goes with what you're looking for and don't forget to try new things as well. Keep jamming.
I am always impressed by how much that snare sounds like a block of wood being hit with bundle sticks.
Yeah! It's like old Nintendo games. Sounds silly. Why not a small pickolo snare, or something like that.
This seems really cool until you realize it's *SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS*

I can get a Pearl 5 piece for the price of that.
the point is to save on room
I can get a 8 piece for 779.
Not with high hats and a bass drum pedal not a seat.

It's for acoustic sets with venues of 100 or less capacity that can't have drums loud, great for compact quieter gigs is all.
for $600? hell no!
You could find decent drumsets in less than half of that price
kirjian yeah I wouldn’t pay $600 for this
Such a shame as it's a great concept. Obviously it's still better than many full sets because you can move it.
You can easily get an Alieses Command, Surge, or Nitro for that price
kirjian no you can’t, trust me
I like how this cost more then an actual drum set
Why is this as much as a pearl export
600$ is way too much for this "set", I don't think this set should be sold for more than 350$

Wow those are some great fills! Great snare tone.
I found there was a bit of a delay in the foot pedal from when you put your foot down
$600 gets me a full drum set with cymbals and a throne on my city’s Craigslist.
I got the conversion kit. It was a bunch of parts thrown in a box with no instruction manual.
wow that snare cajon looks similar to the Drum midi pad! I want this for playing crawling or leave out all the rest to set up my new kits! yeeet!

you killed the whole feel of cajon!
Good idea and cool sound. Bad price though.
For that price you get even a good electronic drum set
At this point and price , buy a small drum set. But kind of cool.
Can you swap out the psuedo-snare for a real one?
Of course you can...
Yes, and you can exchange the cajón for a real bass drum, and have a regular drum set. lol
Jose Solis You could even replace the whole thing with a bass or guitar. So many possibilities!
Exactly. With so many possibilities outside the kit, why buy the kit, if you're just going to change it?
A real snare is always too loud.
made my own with an LP cajon and a gibralter cojon pedal. Most drummers have a snare and hats. Cost me 200 bux.
sounds good
Seems a bit pointless. Might as well just use a simple drum kit.
Won’t this be smaller?
Not to mention, a small drum set is still gonna be loud af in a small acoustic bar gig.
The point is that it doesn’t sound like a “regular” drum kit, while retaining the feel of a “regular” drum kit.
Silly comment
It's much quieter. A think many may appreciate.
Nice
I wish i have some of those🥺🥺🥺
