I give this show some credit they can turn something completely normal and not an issue into a life or death situation
If it drops one more degree by tomorrow at 3pm every piece of ice will melt, the season will be ruined and Africa will slide off the Earth into space.
Agree with all the drama it’s a wonder no one has died on the show yet😂
Right stupid, I know!
Crisis averted!! 😂
Yeah they do
If they don’t thaw the trailer out in the next 10 minutes, they’ll miss this years mining season. Stay tuned to see what happens
Lol. Then plays dragged out 30 mins of that 10 mins of what is happening.
@@dododede875 if he takes a solid shit now and runs out of toilet paper, his mining season will end! - Before it even started! 😱😱😵💫
Volvo’s engineering ability exceeds discoveries ability to over-dramatize everything with that counterweight design. 👍
Yes, it was a nice surprise to see just how easily that 20 tonne counterweight just clipped on. Discovery must have been pissed off at the missed opportunity for some drama and so just showed us the bare minimum. Sodding bastards! They could have done something to show off the unique feature, but no.

The Volvo 950 Excavator is definitely going to help Tony out for that season. Tony says he bought it to help move more dirt 😉😉. But we all know why he bought the 950 instead of the 750. It was so he could one up Parker who bought a Volvo 750 Excavator a season earlier if I'm not mistaken. Cause let's be honest Tony and Parker have been trying to one up each other since day one. 😂😂.
Tony is CAT owner for life, it's that simple. As Parker gets great deals from Volvo...
@@ginog5037 but he just bought a Volvo
@@dano8613 Yes he did, Volvo needed more product placement and sure gave Tony a great deal, plus the jackets...lol

The sound engineer needs to turn the background music wayyyyy down and the narrator voice up 👍
Yup 👍
This had a sound engineer? I thought it was done by a 10 year old.
"If Tony can't figure out how to stop the tracks from slipping, he'll lose precious time for the season.." . Really? This is why I stopped watching this. Like ice road truckers no need for the music and drama talk.
The reason you hate it is the reason I watch it. I love how overdramatic it is….
It’s hysterical
I love how when she was actually in danger while the boom was swinging wild and almost smashed the cab yet they say nothing about that lol too funny
Tony looking out for his daughter and granddaughters well being was awesome.
He may seem heartless but he’s not stupid. Bouncing around in a dozer would be horrible for a pregnant woman.
@@pushnpow my friend ran monster trucks. When she got pregnant she asked doc if she should stop doc told her the baby was use to it. She ran the truck til she was 6-7 month pregnant.

I bet he is a tough dad but I bet behind closed doors there is a Tony that will not see the light of day. Especially as he gets older, I can see him opening up more. But not for TV. He's tough. He's from old country times.
@@pushnpow incorrect. The child is better protected then the mother. Almost like God knew what he was doing. Now running a truck on Indiana roads that might be sketchy
umm, if they put down the wood dunnage first, high enough to where when trailer drops, excavator sitting on the blocks, could have driven rt off the first try
Yes that's how it's done 😁
Exactly
Then they loose the opportunity for extra drama.
I should have read the comments before commenting.
I’m amazed the truck driver didn’t block under the tracks before dropping the trailer down. They made it such a faff to unload.
I thought so too

1.4 mil one would think they could shrink wrap it for the road so it looks clean and new on arrival
I could swear they said it was a Komatsu in the beginning and lo and behold, it’s a Volvo. The Volvo in my opinion, is a premium machine. Good choice.
It's nice but komatsu makes the best excavator on the market.

@Lawmen, what about Case excavators?
Tony is pretty rammy - not a good thing when you're loading tracked equipment on icy decks or slinging heavy stuff around.
Yet here he is, why don't you pipe down.
7:05 looks like Discovery needs to do some better math... "Capable of moving 2 tons"? 1 cubic yard of dirt weighs around 1.5 tons, that's probably an 8 yard bucket at least. The bucket itself probably weighs 2 tons.
Yeah lol.. I've seen shovels like that move around 20,000 lb logs like chicken wings.
lmfao
i was thinking the same thing, the little tractor when i get gravel in my pickup moves 1/2 yard at thats close to 1000lbs
Buy a Million dollar Volvo excavator get a free Volvo jacket.. Worse than Snap-On! Haha
He had that jacket before.
2:05 this is about as honest, caring and loving of a moment as you'll ever see from Tony Beets. I'm sure he cares just as much as everyone else does about their kids, tony just ain't that guy to show you his insides.
"it wouldn't hurt nothing to take it a bit easy." - Tony Beets in reference to his pregnant daughter operating a piece of heavy equipment.
Well if global warming continues his grandaughter wont have the same life he did that snow wont exist.
If the mining season starts ,they might miss the entire season !!!
Maybe putting the boards under before dropping the bed trailer would have been more effective
no drama in that.
Many shows: *dramatic music*
This show: shall we play some classical music while your sliding down a hill?
I drove this model excavator when I was 18. We used it to demolish a few buildings, tallest of which was 3 stories + basement
I love how this show states the obvious is such a dramatic matter. Narrator: "Every day Tony Beets isn't digging gold, he isn't making money"
Tony Beets i have watched every season of gold rush and you are still the man.
i cant quite put my finger on it but something is telling me that this guy is a volvo man
"this excavator will be able to lift 2 tonnes, the weight of an ENTIRE car"... Yeaaah no, that's a 950 so more like 14 tons. It has 37tons lifting capacity on the undercarriage.
i like how a whole episode is just over 9 minutes of actual content.
The final drive should always be in the rear of the machine and Idlers in front while digging... That's when you know who is an operator and one who's not..!
Why do people get so upset about digging over your drives? On pipelines we almost always dig over the drives and always have them facing downhill when working hills.
@@dustinadams4252
Cause it cost 5 times more to rebuild a drive than an idler. While digging the front of your track works the hardest.
It's perfectly fine. Calm down, "Operator".
grand daughter : i wanna sleep!!
L.o.l.
More gold, bigger machines, rinse and repeat, the thrill is starting to dwindle a bit.
Yeh, I liked it better when at the start they were scratching around trying to find a few ounces, now it's just a case of how much are they gonna get with all this equipment they have
These guys don't know how to mine lol. One Manitowoc Dragline would replace at least two hydraulic excavators.
A Marion 7400 would totally crush this!
Tony didn't build an excavator 😂he disassembled an excavator, shipped it & reassembled it .All without dramatic music too.
If I had an ounce of gold for every time he said 9000 ounces....
Worked in a mine in germany, after 3 weeks the big stuff isnt that special anymore, just tools. And a digger in that 60 ton class maybe 500000 but not more. We had new komatsu hd405 s each one costs about 800000 so i bet his volvo excavator wasnt new so keep it real. Btw mining is pretty boring, and the dust you breath in your lungs cant get rid of it even the machines have filters the fine dust always comes in....

I will bet any amount of money that it was nowhere near -30 that day. There's no way anyone is touching metal without gloves on at -30
You're not Canadian are you? Hahahaha I can almost say yeah -30 with sunlight maybe a bit of wind, that metal will be a little warmer than you think. Metal absorbs the sunlight, but yeah can see it being -30 once you get moving and working you dont feel the cold as much.

@@ghammy1201 did you also forget the tiger torches? And I'm from southern Alberta, discovery also speaks in celsius. So -30 with no major wind chill with sunlight and indirect heating from the torches, yeah it's believable. they have zerk fittings that you pump grease into once installed
@@brianlatham3605 on a fat 4' long shaft you would have to probably have a dozen zerk fittings staggered around the shaft. Years ago we had some. Large diameter shafts where they installed think 4 zerk fittings to a grease block. Would lube it up with an air powered grease pump that clamped onto a grease drum on wheels. We had a super talented machnist who would spend the extra time on slow rotating shafts that had bronze bushings. He would cut two grooves around the bushings and 1 or 2 connecting slots. He would turn speed down to a crawl then grease it. As long as it was regreased lasted a lot longer then a bushing with no grease path ways. Had a lazy boss who was always in a hurry. He would bolt C face motors to gear boxes without cleaning the shaft and putting neverseeze on shaft. When one of the motors that he rushed burnt out I just disconnected the 480 volt wires and told him to remove motor. I've been saying that with so many shows .. hell's kitchen too.. commentators and all that is mostly just complete bs.. also the over-hyped editing. All scenes is like 1 second videos. It's very annoying. If they had kept it more as a documentary style, it would have three times as many views. People seem to think otherwise but i know people would rather watch it more natural, calm and educating, so you can actually learn something. They could mix it in with some engineering teaching, lots of things they could do. I just don't get it. It's america, everything has to be stupidifying, because the government don't want people to be smart, they want people to be stupid and want more entertainment so they are easy to manage. It's f*cking annoying and unethical. I hate that bs.
