Wow, I could watch this for hours!! What an amazing talent you have, absolutely loved these!! Thank you Bill, boy those push rod sizings and valve reliefs are just epic!! Thank you sir, look fwd to seeing what's next!!! 😁😁😁😁😁🚜🚜🚜🚜
Appreciate the Video, Bill. This is the part of pulling that has been mostly lost nowadays. There are still teams out there trying new stuff for cheap, but most are going to the power shops and buying the latest and greatest for the season. I don’t have anywhere near the money to do that. Thanks again for sharing some of your knowledge. Tricks still work, just more of them that are not free.
For calibration of your scale, a nickel is 5 grams, even an Buffalo nickel. Great craftsmanship Bill, using what you got , and using what is between those ears man ! Thank you 🙏 God bless
Yeah, I got more enjoyment out of re-engineering and building my creations than actually pulling them, though it wouldn't mean as much without trying it in competition.😁
Those 619 engines are great engines! I had a 760 scraper tractor. Converted it into a jd 700 tractor with a 619 engine in it. It was an engine without a crankshaft. I did put a crank in it out of a 5400 forage harvester. 13 mm plungers p pump and a garrett turbo from a DAF 11.6 liter truck engine. It ran 7th gear with the scraper final drives. Didn't cost much in those days and we had a lot of fun!
The crank in that engine weighs as much as a grown man. We had 3 5020's on the farm when I was growing up. Wish I could have kept one of them. I still have a couple of sway blocks and the long section of pto shaft that lived inside the tractor. Love the videos! Be safe Brother! Thomas, Mississippi!
Back in the late 70s we ran a 426 Hemi in a stock car, used the NASCAR 7.1" long rods and shorter lighter pistons, much better rod angle to crank plus weight savings on pistons. Really like your lifter and pushrod redesign, bet there was quite a weight savings there too. Few builders considered valve train weight back in those days, nice call! It really brings back old memories hearing your stories, I'm here nodding agreement every time you reveal bits of your DIY ingenuity.
Forgot to mention piston coatings: We had some spray dry molybdenum for piston skirts and white VHT for the tops, coated them and baked on in an oven. Molybdenum held up very well and the VHT was still there when we'd tear down for rebuild.
Bill I have really enjoyed the videos. Yes sir you keep your new technology secrets as that makes y'all a living. Take care and I hope you get some more rain.
Great video!! Thanks for taking the time to share. Sure is neat seeing what you put together and made work. Are you thinking of putting it back together and pull it just for fun?
I know in dirt late model engines they use a lot of titanium rods. It's all about rotating weight and acceleration. Do they use titanium rods in pulling tractors?
A good friend of mine that was a older man, always told me that is always a cheaper way to do things, you just have to figure it out, I believe you did!
Hey, thanks for your interest, I had road gear and a gear a few percent lower. I would come off the line at 4,500 to 5,000 RPMs, it would drop a little under load.
@@AndrewHuskins My son and grandkids are just south west of Nashville, I was trying to get at least as close as an hour or two to them. But if I find the right property , I'd consider other areas. You got a place for me?
Ceramic and Friction coating. Ahead of your time there! You did allot with a small budget. This is the kinda stuff I appreciate about pulling. Built. Not Bought.
Great skills without the book learning, which doesn't mean much. It's real-world practice, tips, tricks and inputs from others that bring about skills. Many times, you said "we", (in porting and polishing the head} did you have some assistance or was it just you and the dogs? I say we, all the time because our dogs are always near by.
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 It's always best to be humble, BUT, as you started the video, you are Blessed. So, in that sense, it is WE, God working through you and together you have created a fine machine, cheaply.
Do you still pull any tractors? Pro stock is way beyond most peoples means today, its kinda sad. We have a 1066 that we pull in local fairs for the fun of it but to be competitive takes a lot of time.
Yeah, I still pull, check the other videos on my channel and see what I'm into. Youare right, prostock never should have been allowed to get to this level, it was supposed to be a starter class for guys that couldn't afford a Super.
Great video, think I seen you all pull at Westminster and the buck back in the day. That’s back when things were affordable and you could make power resourceful. Thanks for sharing!

This is the best pulling video I have ever watched! That's the way to do it. Make something from nothing and have fun doing it.
Wow Rod, that's very kind of you to say, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Bill you are a treasure of information. I love hearing the stories my friend. God bless

Hey Douglas! Thanks for taking time to comment, I appreciate the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the videos.
Another excellent video. I hope you can do more like this. I can relate to where you were back then…
Great video Bill enjoy everyone of them!
Thanks, Richard, I appreciate that!
Thanks for the indepth explanation of your early years of building your pulling tractor 👍
This has been a great series! Thanks for showing us!

Thank you. I like seeing this stuff
You are an amazing craftsman and mechanic

Really nice video very interesting.
Thank you very much!
Love the videos wish more of the older pullers would do videos like these. This is a lot of stuff we do on garden tractors
Love this kind of stuff Bill. I to try to improve my JD 60 all the time. Little things all add up. I try to go the cheapest way always
Thanks Bill.
You are very resourceful for a "Dirt Farmer". Very interesting and thanks for posting.
You looked almost as cocky as I was, except I showed cattle! 😂😂😂 Great video Bill. I wish the pull tractors now still had tractor parts in them! 👍👍
Enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing
You bet!

Thanks for sharing your talent!
Great videos and great to see you sharing your love for the Lord, do you have any idea what Mack engine that injection pump would’ve come off of?
Most any of their engines had that type of pump, you'd just put the big plungers in and go pullin'!
Thank you for the video!!
Really enjoyed the video (enterprising young man)
This is awesome. Thank you. Curious what you had to do on the trans end of things
You sure knew you stuff, thanks floe sharing, God Bless

Tell us about that G in back ground of this video sometime I enjoy your videos
Are you planning on running it again?
We'd love to someday if time permits.
What gear did you pull in and what kind of RPMs were you turning out of that tractor? love all your videos. Thanks for sharing.

Very smart man that is so cool to hear these stories ime and my brother are in pulling. we got a couple 560 farmall built they run perty good
My favorite saying: I've done so much with so little, for so long that now I can do anything with nothing!
Did I hear you say in a past video your moving down to Tennessee?
We are trying to locate a good farm down there to purchase. We would take a year to move.
What area are you looking at I have several friends in east Tennessee, a lot of good pulling!!!

Sure be cool to catch up with you all at a pull somewhere
