I am a number of aerial photographers that rely on DJI drones, and it always amazes me how photography is often forgotten in videos in favour of video comparisons.
Yes, same here - giving up 20mpx on the Air 2S for 12 on the Air 3 is a deal breaker for me. The emphasis is obviously on video. Its hard to believe they have not updated the AEB options for years, though it should be the simplest of software changes. Would love to have the 70mm option,
@ctzerbe1 As a photographer (rather than film maker) I have tried several DJI drones, and so far Mavic 3 raw images are by far the best when editing in Lightroom. Still worth the extra, if you make a return.
I use mine professionally & opted for the Mini 3 Pro this generation after having Mavic Pro 2 and P4P previously and while the Mini has been perfectly suitable for my needs & frankly amazing (and you get harassed far less with the smaller quieter drones) I had been contemplating the jump to the Mavic 3 Pro mainly for the tele lens, but also a bit more stability and things like waypoints. The Air 3 is such a great fit for creators like me. The quality is more than enough, having the tele is super handy and it's rock solid. I used it in 50+kph winds and it's perfectly stable (while the treetops are swaying around like crazy)
Great video. I just got the air 3 fly more combo today. This is my 4th drone as i have the mini 3 pro, the mavic 3 classic, avata, and now this. I'm really looking forward to getting it in the air.
@@johnskyfield went to the air 3 and a few months later got the Avata 2. The air 3 was great but it’s basically a beefier version of a mini. It’s better for the Kansas wind, and got more features. But the Avata 2 blows both of them out of the water in terms of how fun they are. Sure you can get good videos, slomo and all that on the traditional drones.. but an FPV makes it way more exciting. Also heart wrenching when you crash lol
I’d love to go with the Mavic 3 Pro but to get the fly more bundle would be almost 3000 dollars. So I will probably go with the Air 3 bundle at half that price.
I mentioned the 70mm cameras are the same. After reading the specs, I don’t think they are. The air 3’s 70mm can be up to 100fps while mavic 3 pro’s 70mm is only up to 60 fps. I suspect the mavic 3 pro is still using a non stacked sensor CMOS
To me the 3 pro is worth it because of the log mode, im mixing it in with fx6 footage and for grading I almost dont even notice a diffrence. I can use my fx6 luts on the 3 pro with no issue
Regarding the charger, I think people don’t see where the price is dropping if a charger is not included. These chargers are 50-100 or more dollars so we can’t confirm if the company is passing on the savings to the customers
You have to buy such a charger only one time and it charges all of your devices. I got one over two years ago and it still lasts. Sending a charger with every box is unnecessary, just produces more and more rubbish.
@@pascalbasel the did increase. I’ve had most of the mavic line. Each one was a significant increase. Because I sell to get the next, I’d rather get a charger because it sells with the previous. The Air 3 is out… so I bought a Mavic 3 Classic. And it came with a charger, a much more capable sensor, and overall better performance. I didn’t buy into the hype because I know in 6 months to a year they’re gonna have the real successor to the Air 2S. The Air 3 Pro. Y’all should wait. Im glad to know that I’m future proofed with my M3C
Yeah. The fact DJI is still selling the Air 2S tells you it hasn’t been replaced yet. And with the mini 4 pro coming with everything the Air 3 has just minus 10 minutes flight time and the 3x tele, all in a smaller package, they’ve got to give the Air 3 more
Yea your missing out on the telephoto lense from the classic. Honestly if I went with spending way more money I'd not sink it on the mavic classic and get the pro. Once tou use a telephoto lense tou can't got back it's amazing especially for weddings cutting out unwanted stuff in the background
It’s probably worth the price, but as a recreational pilot who doesn’t make any money from my drone I can’t justify the price. 1500 for my Air 3 was all I could afford. Maybe if I hit the lottery.
So in my opinion its the mavic 3 pro or the air 3. The mavic classic is definitely nice but i went for the air 3 from the air 2 1400bucks fly more with the nice controler definitely cant beat it. So... stacked sensors never have higher dynamic range as their SNR is worse than a BSI sensor. You faster readout, but that's it, you wont get better dynamic range or low light. Ever.
That depends. Faster readout means they can read higher bitrates in the same time and extract more dynamic range out of it. That’s why the X-H2S has slightly better dynamic range as a7Siii for example, despite being apsc.
@@pascalbasel - No, faster read outs mean the read from the top of the sensor to the bottom is faster so you get less rolling shutter. A global shutter has a full sensor readout for example, and yet again, takes another hit to dynamic range and low light. That's why CCD sensors were superior to CMOS. Compare a Nikon Z7 II with a BSI 45.7mp sensor vs Nikon Z8 II with a BSI Stacked 45.7mp sensor and you'll see even though they're the same resolution, the Z7 II out shines the Z8 in dynamic range and low light.
@@truthkeeperfilms Not sure what Nikon is doing but I do know that the stacked sensor allows Fuji to read 14bit instead of 12 and the video DR of this camera is the best you can get from all similarly priced hybrid cameras. So stacked sensors having less DR than others is simply not true. The Air3 also confirms that from what I've seen.
@@pascalbasel - I don't mean to keep going back and fourth, but, stacked sensors have nothing to do with bit depth. A stacked sensor's advantage is speed. That's it.
