The little metal pin is supposed to go up the bottom of the pole. Helps secure everything in place. Peg the ring into the ground.

SAD is awful I suffer from it too and count down the days until lighter nights. I grump my way through the dark nights from October to late January when the nights slowly get lighter. We have watched you guys for a couple of years now and you have given us so many helpful tips. I remember we found your channel on our first outing in our wee Susie the Swift caravan when we had an issue with the loo and managed to fix it thanks to you guys. We’ve since upgraded to our very first new van a Bailey GT75 Brindisi 😊 It’s lovely to see you both back out caravanning and uploading content again ❤

Me and the wife have just purchased our first tourer and have our first holiday coming up in north Yorkshire which is where we call home. Bit nervous for our first trip but extremely excited. As 3872 says they should be fitted up into the poles, that way you should get the correct tension when pushing up the final bit of the pole, something to do with if you are on a sloping pitch. kind regards Keith & Trish

The pins go into the end of the poles, you then tighten the strap and they help hold them in place

Get yourselves a piece of Visqueen plastic membrane from your local builders merchant. Same size as your awning carpet. Use it on hard standings, stops damp coming up and protects awning carpet from stone damage. Keeps your socks dry too 😂

Our caravan came with a 4m air awning .. used it for summer then sold it. I like the look of this small porch awning, especially over winter, just not sure we’d ever put it up 😂. We have same sink/drying rack in our Unicorn. I usually slide it over the sink/washing up bowl when cooking to free up more bench space. Unicorn has a great sized kitchen for Caravan Cooking Show!

Hi both. Good idea small awning for short stays especially packing away if the awning is wet easy to dry off when you get home. Always take ours for short breaks. Looks a lovely site. Shame about the trains and traffic noise. Thanks for sharing 👍

Have the pole slack, poke the spike up the end of the pole, then extend the pole so it keeps the awning taught.

That dangly ring thing is so you can attach the awning to your key ring and you don’t leave it at home and it’s always handy to put up when you get on site . 😉

Like someone else says, the pins go up the corner pole. There should be a hole in the bottom of the pole that locates the pin.

Used to go by Henlow bridge lakes twice a day on the way to/from work at one time, never have stayed there though. Can wholely understand that there could be some noise at times. Only about 25 miles from home though, will definitely book up for a weekend later in the year. Loved the awning limpits, will be ordering some of those for ours. Thanks again for a great vid 👍

Yes the pin at the corner of the awning pushes up the corner pole then peg down through the ring to secure it more

I used to go there a lot as my parents and sister live just up the road in Stotfold, unfortunately not now as my caravan was stolen 2 years ago. Have you tried the caravan club site in Ashwell about 30 mins from Henlow very quiet site not as big as Henlow but very friendly.

Ah, awnings a divorce in a bag😅. We went for an air awning after battling with a poled one, it’s so much easier and much sturdier than I thought it would be.

Hi @clivehewins Many thanks for watching Clive & Sally ❤️ Recipe is quite simple really, just flatten the chicken breasts, cover in French mustard & pepper. Lightly sauté the chopped onions, crushed garlic & ginger. Add the chicken, some Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce, a splash of red wine & simmer until chicken is cooked. Add some double cream, stir until thickened & serve 🤗 It’s also nice if you add some sliced mushrooms & can be served with rice instead of potatoes. Great vid, lovely site its huge. I bought a porch awning same time as caravan 4 years ago. It's never been out its packaging😂 4 berth caravan for 1 and a porch awning, bit of overkill me thinks. I'm with you Michele with SAD, i loathe the winter and dark nights, always glad to get past Dec,Jan and Feb. You have the inside of your caravan looking fantastic, so homely and welcoming. X
