One thing I think it's worth mentioning is that for the upgraded version, you get 2 free Kaito Shizuki in Arena when you unlock the DImir beginner deck, and 2 seems to be the right number for this deck right now.
I believe you only get one, which is how many I've been running in this style deck to save wildcards. Probably worth snagging another, though.

@@eugenequek6797 Me? That's where I got the idea, yeah. A lot of my early pack openings helped pushed me in that direction, too. Though I threw in some anointers and combat researches and such. Been having some of the most intense matches with it.
Edit: The last things I added were some surge engines and god damn people like killing them immediately haha
Opponent at 24:23 had a manual upkeep stop set in case of Sheoldred.
Little did they know... Seth only had Sheoldred-at-home.

This deck is sick as a budget brew but holy crap this deck is craving a sheoldred
exactly and play set of Surge Engine makes this deck scary asf
The recursion from Puppeteer might be better. Makes the need for 2 answers instead of the 1 everybody already runs for Sheoldred. Idk though
Also Ledger Shredder looks perfect in order to draw 2 during your opponent turn
You can probably invest in a Sheoldred with Mr. Noah.

Was thinking a bit about arena budget an I had this thought: One of the cool things about Budget Magic is that it gets Seth to build decks around cards people are not using much and sometimes he finds cool sleeper strategies, like Hammer Time. I think it's fine that the budget decks are a little expensive on arena, because that's just the arena economy. I still think it's cool to watch videos of weird decks using unpopular cards.
His decks are really fun to take to a new FNM and then just rogue deck the crap out of them

Deck also benefits from opponents not knowing how to play against it. It was funny watching mono-black grottos (match 4 game 1) let Seth put a counter on the anointer to put it to 4 power instead of removing it right away.
I also really liked the stats data at the end of the video.

I haven’t played standard since the last Ravnica cycle but this deck makes me want to play again.
Go for it! Standard’s actually in a really good spot right now, the meta is actually really varied and fun.
@@sontaranmc2109 60% of decks are sheoldred decks, 50% of decks are fable decks, and another 46% of decks are make disappear decks, with some overlap of the three, as per mtggoldfish data, that puts sheoldred at just below 5% of the metagame behind Oko, and more played than Uro at the time of their banning, not sure where the variety you're seeing is, grixis midrange as a deck sees more play than 4c energy did in standard, which is a deck that had 8 bans thrown at it for being so strong.

This deck is sick! I rly want to see a version of this in pioneer\explorer that uses red and or green, a jund, grixis, or 4 color build would be sweet!
I’ve been running Gixian puppeteer in pioneer Rakdos and I’ve been very impressed
I’ve been doing something similar and breakdown heavy works pretty well with it and invoke despair is good removal and card draw in one
I have been down on standard since the meathook ban but this deck is sick, definitely gonna try it out

Looks like Thirst can work in 2-color Blue decks too. Seems like it should see some play outside of Mono-U.
maybe for a non-budget version Ledger Shredder might be good to at least consistently get the draw 2 on your turn from the conniving?

I was sold magic beans once by this man.
Seth is my ghost of Christmas present and nothing else matters.
The first thing that popped in my head when you cast Stroke on Invoke was Sheoldred. It’s tough spot but I think it’s a punt. Sheoldred is just so good against your deck. While Negate plays around more cards, I think those cards are less relevant. You can beat spot removal or another Path.

This deck gets a lot better as soon as ONE drops, with the Phyrexian Arena reprint
I know it’s kinda hard to record at the perfect spot but I feel like high diamond/numbered mythic is a much more informative data set than sub 90s mythic where your opponent scoops twice in 5 minutes.

I think it actually would have been correct to play the counters in opposite order, not just hindsight bias. Without the active graveyard hate I don't think you lose to the path of peril because of the recursion in the deck. I was more concerned about losing to sheoldred/ felt like the stroke was maybe wrong before you actually got punished. Deck was sweet!

For a not budget version do you think it's viable to squeeze in some teferi, temporal pilgrim into the 75?
Maybe as 2ofs, but I think Ledger Shredder is a better investment overall. Also Combat Research seems decent.

its absolutely just a punt, they would have cleaved the path of peril..... meaning its cmc is also 4 or higher, you saw zero non creature spells that were below 4 mana except uncleaved path, duress, and hearse, hearse does nothing there, duress does nothing there, and sheoldred would be hard to beat, saving distainful stroke was just always correct with the information you had.
Anyone else here for the way seth pronounces, “opponent”?

Let me tell you, I tried your budget deck in Arena standard. I got literally eviscerated. never even had the slightest of chances. Even a crappy mono blue deck that all I seen them play was thirst for discovery, the blue serpent with ward 2(dom card) consider, and the blue djin with power equal to the instant and sorcery in their grave; beat me. It was a real 💩 show. Of course I only got to go first in one game, but that’s just arena for you. I haven’t bought the pass or anything this season, so I guess I should expect to do nothing but loose. But Jesus Christ, I’ve put 260$ into the game since I started playing a few months ago. You’d think that would be enough.
B4 ppl tell me I just suck. I place top 3 in 99% of the drafts that I play in paper. I’m not terrible at the game. Arena is just rigged; and in a number of different ways from what I can tell.
So I guess I just want to say; thanks for trying to help me have a decent deck in arena. But it’s definitely not the one. I got stomped every game. 😡
That last opponent does not know how to play aggro. You don't wait against a midrange deck you go attacking as soon as possible.
