    Sick pedal. Scott (AKA Daisy Berkowitz, RIP) from Marilyn Manson told me he actually used a Peavey Bandit 65 (80’s version) for most of the guitar tracks on Portrait of An American Family and some of what he did on ACS. This seems like a good pedal to cop those tones.

    Greetings Kyle. I have the Martyr. It is beyond legit; without all the reliability issues of the Valvestate amp, that I owned 30 years ago. And if you put it in the effects loop of a tube amp, it sounds even better

      I have a Martyr. I use it with my Line 6 HX FX into the fx return of my Bogner. Instant 90’s Death, Prong, early Meshuggah, Mudvayne sounds. I play most of my stuff in C with the Martyr. That contour knob is awesome. It’s tight 90’s Metal sounds. I’m goosing the front with an SD-1 or OD1 from the HX FX and sometimes a 70’s chorus model and it’s a great sound. Master Effects makes some great preamp pedals. Might pick up the Marauder. They have a model of the Gallien Kruger 250 ML too, without the chorus and echo. Same great 5 band EQ though. I’d like to get one of those too.

    Nice video! I have both the Marauder and Martyr pedals (and have demo'd them both on my channel), and they both are so good! I also have a real Blue Stripe Bandit and Marshall 8100, and both pedals completely nail the tones from both amps.

    Really interesting pedal. One of my favorite amps in my collection is actually my teal stripe bandit.
    My favorite sound the amp makes is the shape switch on and the mids down to 9 oclock or so which gets rid of some of those pesky high-mid frequencies… along with a lot of other mid frequencies.
    Love it or hate it, it nails those nostalgic scooped skate punk, AJFA Metallica, Nu-Metal and Butt Rock sounds.

    Sorry if I can't get the point of this pedal. You can buy a Peavey Bandit for the same price of the pedal and it's a full amplifier with speak and all the stuff. If you go to the used market, you can find a Bandit for 100$. Why would someone spend 250$ in a pedal that emulates an amp that you can find cheap? Maybe I'm wrong or missing something.

    • @belligerentamateur
      @belligerentamateur  2 года назад +4

      To use as an easily transportable and exchangeable preamp sound for a travel rig or reording studio. Amps take up a lot of space and can be heavy, a pedal that sounds like an amp takes up a lot less. I understand where you're coming from, but keep in mind, these pedals were also made because there was a lot of requests to make them.

    • @skaldlouiscyphre2453
      @skaldlouiscyphre2453 2 года назад +1

      Sometimes you can't find a given amp locally, or everyone local fanboys on it so the price for one that doesn't need shipped is higher than you can justify.
      That and Tim's gear is way quieter than a lot of these amps and the tolerances are tighter so it's a higher quality version of the circuit in someways. I know my Martyr is way quieter than a real Valvestate.

      Just because some folks dismiss an amp as a shitty practice amp doesn't mean that someone else doesn't consider it the holy grail. One of these pedals and a Mooer Radar would be a dirt cheap simple recording solution. A selection of these sorts of pedals and you can make all your 90s solid-state dreams come true.
