I’m definitely going to buy this pedal. My bandmate has a Supreme 160 and it’s my favorite solid state amp I’ve ever used, just so gnarly and versatile. I never really understood what the shift switch did either, until I looked at the user manual and it made a lot of sense. What it does is switch the area of the mids that the body knob controls. In the off position the body controls the lower mids, hence the thickening of the tone when it’s cranked and the more tight focused scoop. With the shift switch engaged it makes the body control the high mids, which is what makes it sound like an hm2 when it’s cranked, and makes for a suuuper gnarly thick scooped tone. Thanks for the vid, this is definitely the best one made on this pedal thus far.
I loved the old peavey blue strips. People want so much for them these days. Its awesome to see someone take the time to make a preamp like this. Awesome vid thanks bro
That company has been releasing some cool stuff lately. Didn’t expected the pedal to be so versatile, even some old school HM-2 tones there. But that tone you you got with the OD and the Lundgren pickup was extremely good.
VH140C is a killer amp! And yeah I've missed my old Supreme 160 for so long, but finally I can get those tones again with this pedal! I'm super happy about that! Such an aggressive sounding circuit!
@@GordOlson I noticed in the video you used the pedal more as a pre amp, how would you recommend using it through an amp head, through the clean channel or as a boost.
@@TheGreatBaronOBeefDip You can do it into a clean channel, but personally I much prefer using it as a true preamp (as it IS technically an actual amp preamp circuit), so with a head I would recommend sending it into the amp's effects return. But of course, tone is always subjective, so I would tell people to try both ways and see which they prefer.
@@GordOlson Ok, cool, I'll try to pick one up, I wish these companies would reissue these infamous amps, Ampeg/Crate, Peavey, Randall, Marshall, all workhorse solid state beasts.
@@TheGreatBaronOBeefDip All I can say is, keep your eyes on Master Effects. Maybe go follow them on FB or IG, because they already have the Peavey, they also have a Marshall Valvestate 8100 pedal (the "Martyr", which I've demo'd on my channel too. Spoiler, it's amazing!) and regarding the others... well, just keep your eyes peeled... ;)
That tone was incredible and the music was killer! Great writing man! This video makes me even more happy that I bought the Marauder. Thanks for describing the controls also, now it makes alot more sense to me! Keep up the great content man!

Hey man I just discovered you from Keith Merrow's new album. You're awesome man!! I've been switching to Schecter from Ibanez and I don't regret it at all. Recently got a CR6 from Guitar Center. I plan on putting some Duncans in it at some point.
Thanks for the video bro, new sub :). I'm about to buy this guitar with Evertune bridge, do you think it is worth it? I never had one with Evertune so... do you think there is any loss in tone because of the Evertune bridge? or any limitation?
I honestly haven't spent enough time with an Evertune to really have an opinion on it, but one of my bandmates bought this guitar with an Evertune, and he absolutely loves it. So yes, I'd say it's definitely worth it! For me personally, the limitation is that it's a fixed bridge, and I just love Floyd Roses too much haha.
I like your new axe. I'm going to buy a Schecter next at some point between now and the end, who knows when tho. I remember when the bandit came out, I had just bought a Crate LOL boy was I pissed =) Love your vids! (Long? keep em coming, I got nothing to do)
Schecter makes killer guitars, for sure! Ohhh, a Crate... sorry... haha Actually they had some cool stuff, the GX140C was the exact same amp as the Ampeg VH140C. Cannibal Corpse used to use that Crate on their early albums.
Has anyone compared this directly to the preamp in a teal stripe Bandit / Special / Supreme / Revolution? I currently run the preamp a of either of those into the power section of another amp.... This pedal would save me on size, but there is no return policy if it doesn't work out for me. I also run an HM-2 in front of the amps, so it's kind of important to know how this pedal reacts to the the HM-2. Thebliterature says that it's basically ME's take on the bandit circuit, but in my EXP, with this kind of fuzzy high gain distortion, minor changes can hose the whole operation.
I still have a blue-stripe Bandit 112 and have compared them, it's very very close! Works well with the HM-2 as well! Components change over the years, but this circuit is as close as is possible with today's available components.
@@mattanthony5267 Thanks! And btw, I have run it through a couple different amps, and I personally prefer it through the effects loop, since the pedal is designed as a preamp. But honestly, it sounds pretty sick in front too. Just a matter of preference. Cheers!
Gord, I just bought an M7 bridge and I'm getting an insane amount of string nose, especially when moving up and down the neck. I'm pretty sure my pickup is too high. I play metal but I don't use a crazy amount of gain either so I'm quite positive it's the pickup height. I use a deal less than most of the clips here and I hear almost no noise when you're moving around the fretboard. Could you give me an idea of a good distance, pickup to string height for the M7? 4mm? Lower, higher? I know there's no exact number, but where do you keep yours at?Thanks much dude. And as ALWAYS, killer playing 💜🤘
Thanks! Hmm, string noise, I'm not sure about that... I have mine probably about 3-4mm from the strings, and yeah, I don't have any problems with excessive noise at all. The M's actually even aren't that high output either, compared to most other metal pickups out there. If it were me, I'd unsolder and redo the pickup connections just to make sure that's not the problem, and if it still seems very noisy, I'd send a message to Lundgren, they're good about helping out with problems like that. Sorry I can't be more help man!
@@GordOlson Thank you so much for the information. I had it installed at a local shop here in Portland, so I think I'll take it to another luthier I know, have them re-soldered and if the issue is still there, then I will contact Johan. Thanks much Gord, rock on! 💜

Thanks! The pickup selector? It's a little weird at first, no doubt. But I got used to it pretty quickly, and it doesn't bother me at all. I'm not a guy that does rapid fire pickup switches all the time though. It could be awkward if you're that type of player.

Don't know if you mentioned this in the vid but did you run this through the effects loop or out front of the amp on the clean channel?
It's actually not even going into an amp! It's just the pedal straight into a cab sim (Torpedo Live) and then straight into the recording interface.
