Stevie is absolutely professional and gentle guy. In a simple interview...with the most usual questions... he can talk easy and bring a lot of new informations inside the answers.
What is amazing to me, is how Steve made every band he ever play in, better! There are not many musicians, if any on this earth, that had such an impact on work they did!
I like him. He’s so real and he doesn’t just answer off the cuff- he’s really says the truth and not what you’d think he’d say. Very well spoken and such a talent!
I'm in awe of Mr. Vai, everything I've ever seen him do on the stage and recordings is so good~!!! Plus he just seems like the most genuinely nice guy around. sure would like to be fortunate enough to see his studio one day.
I saw Steve do a solo in Phila. for David Lee Roth, he went into a solo and fell on the floor like Hendrix , playing the solo I looked up at the camera monitor and Steve was puking while playing the solo. Maybe he was drunk, maybe he had the flu. I dont know but it was cool !
Interviewer-- So you play guitar for a few stars, for the last 4 or 5 centuries"... Steve-- Well, if you're talking about 4 DECADES"... Didn't make fun of him with that gargantuan mistake, had a smile on his face to show the camera that he's actually listening to what the interviewer is asking, says only one thing about Steve Vai-- FUCKING CLASS ACT !
Over the years, I have found Steve Vai to be a 'virtuoso" of guitar players. He is a perfectionist, but somehow he didn't have the press marketers many of the rock bands had. Everyone, especially the young crowd likes the fancy and the flashy. SV studies his craft to perfection.
Yeah same with me also...When i saw that scene and heard Steve Vai's playing for the first time i knew at that point that i would be a guitar player :)
Saw the Eat Em and Smile tour. Talk about a group of great musicians. Vai, Shennan, and Bissonnet could Rock together. I'm a drummer, and Greg is one of the best drummers I've ever seen live.
No matter how stupid interviewers are, Steve Vai is always a gentleman: kind and willing to answer to any of them as if it's the first time. "You're quite a busy man i guess" ... ... ...
Yeah. If you are a good interview subject you listen for what would actually be a good answer, rather than be too much of a bitch about the question. Politicians do this when they don't like to answer directly. Entertainers do this to provide better content than the question alone permits.
Mr. Vai, I will happily take one of your guitars that you give away. Been listening to you since Flex-able and your music has brought me through a lot of rough patches in my life. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I like the guy doing the interview, even though his questions are simple he has a nice attitude. Funny how he fits the stereotype of the German guy wearing a black turtleneck.
Stevie Vai is such a masterful guitarist. Not taking away from any great guitarist out there but Vai creates alot of instumental work. Not alot of air play but it's what he does. My guitar hero, Jeff Beck, paved the way for instrumental rock guitar. Beck could have joined a rock band and made a fortune but didn't want that. The Rolling Stones wanted Beck years ago.
brother you sure have that right!! He will stop and talk to any fan hes just a great human being!! Hes a role Model so is Vai I mean I think Vai is a little I should say Eccentric but you know what he deserves and has the right!! Most people dont realize but Steve when he is not touring he is writing full compositions for the greatest Orchastra/Symphony in The World Hes a composer of all instruments and damned good!! When it comes to theory hes a master!!! Probably the best!!
He was really asking also if Vai would score movies, that Is a road every serious pro should go down and have management actively working for movie tracks
Ok Carle Place is this Long Island ? Because i know the whole story of Vai showing up at Joes with a busted guitar and strings when in school and Joe began to teach him. They play similar you can see Joes been the biggest influence on Steve yet they are unique. I noticed that Satriani never does Finger tapping and Vais an absolute master. Steves amazing my favorite of the 2 comes down to one song and Flying In A Blue Dream By JS I have to this day never heard something so emotional ever.
By The way Petrucci taught you amazing man absolutely amazing!! He is a beaston guitar!! ive been playing on and off for 25 yrs mainly on as of the past 6 yrs or so. I had put the guitar down for a while and one day was like what am I doing. I had to buy a new Amp and that was it and 9 or 10 guitars later and many preamp and several Head Amps I just love to play. How well did taking lessons from Petrucci help you ??? Amazing Talent has come from NY just amazing!!
My uncle looked like this months before he was dying of HIV, but many people that have cancer also look like this months before the die from Cancer. Is Steve ok? has he been through cancer treatment that we are not aware of?
yeah well with 263 Guitars id be giving them away also. I play Guitar But IF i was Rich id only have 8 at the most i don't see the point in having so many you just wont play & they sit there on the wall or where ever. hos time with Roth he made some of his Best Music. the first DRL lp are Awsome (not counting crazy from the Heat EP)
Steve sounds like a lovely, sincere guy in lots of his interviews.
Rich F I met him at Mannys on 49th back in the day and he was such a gentleman and we chatted for nearly 10 min. He is a genuinely good man.
Worked with him briefly about 20 years ago, he is every bit the nice guy he seems to be!

Every band except for Alcatrazz…. The albums with Yngwie are better than the one with Steve Vai
@@andysixxlett2632B.S. Disturbing the Peace is Alcatrazz best album.
I like him. He’s so real and he doesn’t just answer off the cuff- he’s really says the truth and not what you’d think he’d say. Very well spoken and such a talent!
Didn't realise Vai had been playing for four centuries. Legend!
adamtzsch That's why he's so good!
adamtzsch He was born four hundred years ago in the highlands of Scotland and his weapon is a rock guitar, not a sword.
1 hour a day + four centuries = rock god
He is the devil's guitarist, after all...
Were in his second century, the third and fourth were recorded in the 90s, yknow the alien ones
Fabulous person. Amazing musician. Dazzling live performer. Accomplished composer. A true pioneer.
I'm in awe of Mr. Vai, everything I've ever seen him do on the stage and recordings is so good~!!! Plus he just seems like the most genuinely nice guy around. sure would like to be fortunate enough to see his studio one day.

Billy Sheehan said that when you're in DLR's band, Blow Jobs grown on trees.
Doctor Buga gayyyyy
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Damn....what a bummer!
* grow *
when the enterviewer says at 4:28 "you play guitar for the last four centuries", Vai is looking at him like, I'm not THAT old man!
+mikemb123 it was 4 centuries!
+Michael Craig 4 centuries? you absolutely sure? as in.. 400 years? ;)
+Pete Marr Pretty sure he means 4 decades, not centuries
I knew he was a god
He also says at the start, “you are a meager guitar player.”
I really like the interviewers child like excitement. He comes across as very genuine.
Now is the time on Sprockets when we dance.
LMAO
Now I am as happy as a little girl.
Caribou!
DevilMaskMedia hahahahaha nice catch
BooksElleRs I was looking for something witty to say that would fit this interviewer, and you nailed it. NOW WE DANCE.
Steve is a virtuoso legend. One of the very best.
Interviewer-- So you play guitar for a few stars, for the last 4 or 5 centuries"...
Steve-- Well, if you're talking about 4 DECADES"... Didn't make fun of him with that gargantuan mistake, had a smile on his face to show the camera that he's actually listening to what the interviewer is asking, says only one thing about Steve Vai--
FUCKING CLASS ACT !
blica 1 The poor guy was clearly nervous there. Thankfully Steve noticed too and didn't act like a douchebaggy rockstar.
I think Steve understood English was not the guy's 1st language...
Rhythmista he corrected him but he's very humble
smooth hiding the fact he is 550-600 years old!
like Steve said he's not an actor. HE'S A ROCKER !!! I love Steve .No matter what band he plays in ! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎵🎶🎸🎸🎸🎸🎶🎵🎸🎸🎸🎸🎵🎶
You know you've made it when a bald German guy in a black turtle neck interviews you, asking: "How many guitars do you have?"
Meaning???
@@NunzioSandra He's a god

"I feel silly because it's fake"
nailed it
That scene in Crossroads is why I play guitar today
Yeah same with me also...When i saw that scene and heard Steve Vai's playing for the first time i knew at that point that i would be a guitar player :)
Jack Butler!!
Jack Butler is gonna love you!
hey I didn't know Andre Agassi was an interviewer!!
Always surprised by how humble he is.
Saw the Eat Em and Smile tour. Talk about a group of great musicians. Vai, Shennan, and Bissonnet could Rock together. I'm a drummer, and Greg is one of the best drummers I've ever seen live.
He seems like he might be the nicest guy in rock and roll.
this man stands out for me as one of the best. level headed. good vid
I wish I had his gift to play guitar... the guy is incredible

I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Can you just imagine? A guitar that had actually been played by that guy hanging on your wall. Dude! I think that would be my most prized possession.
when DLR was in Fl. practicing, Steve was kind enough to talk to a friend of mine about guitar playing, etc.
I like the guy doing the interview, even though his questions are simple he has a nice attitude. Funny how he fits the stereotype of the German guy wearing a black turtleneck.
His name is Dieter.
I didn't know, very cool, thank you :)
SnL-- Sprokets !!
Meter Pangs
last 4 centuries, jaja! ;-)
+bluescruiser Sometimes decades can feel like centuries, you know?? That's what Herr Sprocket was saying.
:)
The double neck heart guitar is in the Vegas Hard Rock Cafe.
Steve,you the man. Peace

Where did you hear that the Stones wanted Jeff Beck? I am just curious.
Vai...come to Indonesia again will you...great show...
Great interview really good questions.
Thanks very much, I have always found Steve to be a very open and very interesting guy. No exception here!
I just cant get over the microphone.
Wow, I can't believe all this stuff really goes on... but I will partake!
Interviewer actually asks some good questions.
God Loves you and blesses you.
Thank you for the InterView!:)
He can play all of those 263 guitars at once.

One of the most informative interviews!!!
Really cool questions getting answered.
"You play the guitar since 3 -4 centuries..." lol
Good ol’ vai Sick guitarist and yet soo humble‼️💫🤙🏽
steve..one of the best..much love bro.!
vai always comes across really well
Yo Mike Murphy~I know that I have seen this interview before because I remember your comment! Thanks for helping me navigate!
Steve made DLR's career blossom after Van Halen,he was better to watch than Dave not to mention the licks
Holy shit, this is like a freakin' SNL skit. Poor Steve.
Lol
STEVE VAI IS a GREAT GUITARIST
JOE DIRT not as good as Billy Joe tho
who is that?
Steve stays Steve! Every second!
3:09 Perfect opportunity of ask Steve for a specific road debauchery story... Changes subject to “Crossroads” movie! Gah! 🤦♂️
Amazing guitar player. Tender surrender and for the love of God are my favorite pieces by him. Beautiful stuff.
I rarely like watching interviews...i liked this one. interviewer was great..asked simple straight to the point interesting questions..
You love him.
what a lovely interview
Lol he sure looks young for being around for the past four centuries lol
Actually liked this interviewer (for a change), and I think Steve did too.
I had flexable when it 1rst came out, i couldnt get enough of the attitude song.😁
man I watched crossroads about a million times as a kid..
Where in this exactly is he talking about the wild parties? That's what I wanna know.
The heart guitar is currently in the Hard Rock Cafe in the vegas strip.
Love the Vai.
Legend.
The title is a teaser.......I was hoping for some dirt on those "wild parties w/DLR".
If only Steve Vai and Randy Rhoads could have been on one stage at the same time cutting heads and then jamming together. Damn.
He was really asking also if Vai would score movies, that Is a road every serious pro should go down and have management actively working for movie tracks
I'm German, speak German, grew up in Germany and this guys accent is intense
263 guitars! Now I don't feel so bad I've only got like 14 or 15 or something
Steve Vai...interviewed by the host of Schprockets.
Mike Murphy deiter

Roth Party stuff @ 2:40
Good interview.
Steve Vai is yakked up big time here. He’s got big time cash register jaw going.
"Yeah, I remember " LMAO! "And 'member when you like took your guitar and shook it in the karate kids face?, member that?... That was awesome "

uh... you're not a happy guy are you?
No, I think it's he's a vegetarian.

I think crossroads need a sequel.... Crossroads Jack Butler Rising
Jack Butler Rising?!!! Best title to a sequel EVER!!
Steve is magically gifted and brilliant
he and Dave both have reverse-sex-skeletal-structures
he can give me a guitar. love this interview.

He is a busy man! Life is as you get older more so than young
Nice interview
why do I have this feeling that vai didn't have a good night sleep before this interview? and OMG, his hands are big ...
Reminds me of Chris Farley interviewing Paul McCartney on SNL
The interviewer looks like he's holding a miniature Buckingham Palace guard. 🙂
What is the song for the intro?
I love that heart guitar.
awesome!!.... Vai is one of the few americans that know the difference between south america and mexico which is north america as well
He was bornJuly 15, 1956 (age 56)[1]Westbury, New York, United States Joes A New Yorker. But he Vai they both live in California.
this turtle neck guy is making Steve feel uncomfortable..
the worst question ever "how many guitars do you have?"...
Stevie! You have as many guitars as my wife has handbags! :-)
COME TO KY!
I like this guy.
"there's no cut..." priceless
Very good interviewer!
