Great tip on spending only two hours salary for the first knife, however much that is. Too many EDC channels are always pushing super expensive gear, and I worry that it makes a lot of people overspend what they really can't afford, or just give up on having a reliable EDC kit.
K you once again a t 6:35 made in America one and done under $300 look at White River. And there's so many other manufacturers too that are 100% American made. This company got popular and got a bit too big for its britches.
You can get a White River Magnacut blade for under $100, and make your own handle and sheath for around $40. Whatever MKC is doing is not worth anything like the cost, but i guess they can follow the Benchmade model, more power to em
That's not what's happening here and your ignorance shows it. Now this exactly model being $450 instead of closer to the $325 of their other blades is ridiculous, but saying MKC is not worth it shows you've never used one. Every "expert", reviewer, and owner of an MKC can tell the difference between an MKC and when you buy the cheapest shit out there.
@@Swearengen1980 I meant in comparison to other high quality USA made blades, not the cheapest in the world lol, and I mean what MKC is doing with this knife. Although in general I'd still say a $200 White River is better value than a $300-400 MKC.
@@griff7749 $300 if you're comparing apples to apples (size). I just wasn't personally a fan of the White River magnacut I had. The edge retention wasn't quite as good, but where you really saw the difference was in craftsmanship. MKC is just flawless, a work of art. White River, kinda ugly. So value is subjective. If I'm already paying $200+ for a knife, I'll pay more to take it up a notch in looks and even a small margin of quality. I don't consider this specific knife to be the benchmark, I called it what I think it is, a grift on those who are obsessed with "tactical" like they're going John Wick on someone. When I refer to MKC, I mean their typical blades. The Super Cub for $325, a stout 5" at their quality, is reasonably priced. I also have the Limited Edition Becker BK76 magnacut, got it on sale for $245. The quality and craftsmanship? Again, doesn't compare to MKC. I'm not trying to be bias, I'm just basing this on my experience of owning these knives.
$450 nah I'll pass can get 3 tops tex creek for that. I am waiting for the mini speedgoat to come back in stock see what the price is on that when and if they ever come vack in stock.
@@Ricktheruler1 It is. I looked for it just for that post LOL. I have a couple Tops, fine knives, but what they ask for 1095 now is ridiculous. Other than these limited edition or tactical knives that MKC has been putting out recently, the standard knives have been priced consistently and not rising with inflation. Still $200 for the mini goat. I wouldn't bat an eye at again paying $325 for the Stonewall Skinner. Best I've ever used for skinning a buck.
@Swearengen1980 yeah last knife I bought was the crucarta manix 2 that came out a couple months ago they had a sale going on payed 130 or 140 from gp knives I believe had a deal going normally they want like 180ish.
Wow i was gonna watch this until i saw the price...250 is my cap and thats already ridiculous. Now a custom looking knife maybe but thats no doubt a great knife but it looks pretty standard.
Please tell me you were joking. $450.00??? Like for real? Not for me then. If you are able to afford this and this is your speed, may you be blessed with it!
Esee knives are great. remember lifetime guarantee at a reasonable price. the price point for Montana Knife Company knives are high and matched with the whole Drop strategy. not loving it. BUT! loving the designs and if a knife is truly backed by MKC I'm interested.
My only issue with this knife is how they tack on $125 for less steel than Super Cub (it's what, 0.01" thicker than the SC?) just because they advertise it as "tactical". I'm a fan of MKC, I have a couple, but some of their releases feel like a grift. The knife companies take advantage of controversial times with all these "tactical" targeted knives, as if all these knife collectors are trained in knife fighting. I'd probably pick it up if it were a relative pricing to their normal blades. I'm going to keep hounding them for a practical bushcraft knife. With that being a hobby and a prep by so many today, they'd make a killing on a 4"-4.5" spear point (or at least less bellied drop point, similar to the ESEE 4 shape) with a sharp 90d spine. Now looking over all the comments, I can't help but laugh at these poor (figuratively and literally) that shit all over MKC as a product because they can't afford their knives. Then try to compare a $200 magnacut from a mediocre company as if the heat treat and quality of those knives are as good as MKC. Ignorance, envy, hatred. I have magnacut from 4 makers and MKC is hands down infinitely superior to the others. Their $325 standard price is worth the extra money over $200-$250 mass produced blades.
nice blade, gotta admit their cat and mouse game of producing/in stock has grown old. Ramp up production or scale back the amount of models. I'll stay with Winkler and White River
I really like this knife and I like the fair price you mention. It’s a hard pill to swallow for 450. I made a huge mistake and got a nice hand forged knife from a guy close to where I live and ended up not like the clip point blade on for
Umm no. 1. Everytime ive gone on their site all of there knives are “sold out” 2. $450 is crazy. I can buy a small batch custom from trc for $100 less for an example and they are in stock
Sold out because they make limited runs, announce their knife drops ahead of time. Thursday nights are always the drops. It's not hard to get one if you're not a moron. Just bitch about the price, not because a small business doesn't keep a warehouse full of crap.
I can see the “anonimus” copy in it from those benchmade engineers that work at MKC now…. lol. Wonder how they ended up there with non-compete clauses. Hmmm 🤔.
All the new steels are nice, but people who used their knifes daily for years before all these new steels survived just fine without spending a fortune on them. Hard to justify that price unless you have a real need and will be using it for the next fifty years, too many other good blades of high-quality steel for far less.
