As a Dane myself, I do understand the Lack of "enthusiasm" or special treatment from the flight attendants. It is the culture, after all, we have jantelovn...
They don't give special treatment, nor do they expect special or nicer treatment
My Swedish husband is Always amazed at how friendly people are when we visit Texas. Everyone from the check out line to the guys who check the rental car when we return it.
if you dont like our way of living or the Jantelov. You are free too find another country nobody is holding you. Try Pakistan. Maybe it suits you better.
Fuck janteloven!
yes, and that's actually genuine. No false smiles there.
I like the fact that you can be very critical when necessary which is a good thing. Airlines need to listen to the public in order for them to improve their cabins.
Thanks - it sucks when expectations aren't met, but of course I want to share that with you!
Yes finally!! I have been looking for a great SAS long haul flight review for such a long time!
Glad I could finally review it!
Nice video. I've been on SAS Plus many times, and never had a bad meal, but I think it might depend on where you fly from. I've flown from Arlanda, Sweden on their A330 300 to Chicago, and have been mostly pleased by the service and the food, apart from one time when the hot food was served cold, but they put a meal together for me from Businees class to compensate, so all was good.
Flown on Business with them once, got upgraded for free, and that was fantastic.
Cool I have been on A330-300 SAS from Stockholm to Beijing lol
Amazing man!
Interesting tidbit A340 is the safest plane out there. In its 24 years of service till today it hasn't crashed once with fatalities onboard.
khizee naweed it has crashed once but no deaths
As I said 'hasn't crashed with fatalities onboard' I never said it didn't crash
oh yes here we see an epic fail of a human being who loves to spread his bullshit which had no place here in the first place...
That's awesome! The A340-600 is my favorite airplane :D
Yes finally mine too ! Specially those engines they look magnificent on the -600 :)
Added the 1000th like! Keep going Dan your reviews are amazing :)
This is why I travel business or first especially since the money you pay for upgrade to “premium” economy isn’t worth it, at least on SAS. I really like your willingness to use constructive criticism. Good show, chap.
I just stumbled upon your videos tonight, and I really have been enjoying them! You take a lot of time out not only taping, but I can imagine the hours you put in editing! Thanks for a job well done!
I had a chuckle then you introduced your
"Pre-Landing" meal...... Veggies... And "A" pierogie..... Just 1 lonely pierogie! Lol. Pitiful!
I'm glad to watch your video. I'm flying SAS from SF to Vienna, a layover in Copenhagen
Great review! Comprehensive. Hopefully the airlines watch your videos. They are excellent and if they listen, they can think of ways to improve service.
WOW you can really sea Dan has upped his game since this video. An absolute shocker
Honestly, as a Dane myself, I think I have just gotten used to the, “no one is going to pamper you” lifestyle... as, in my past experiences, I have noticed no issues with the SAS service or amenities
Seems a shame when you’re paying for it…
I love how you give an honest review. Very good video once again Dan 😊 (I'm also from the Snapchat fam😜)
Thanks Ross - so glad you liked the video!
I always use SAS when I visit US and they always give me a good experience
great work and review
Please make a Q&A video so we know more about you and how you can afford to travel in luxury
Awesome video!
I live in Stockholm and exclusively fly SAS when heading to the States to visit family. Maybe I have just become used to the lack of amenities with Scandinavian life. Everything provided seemed pretty ample to me.
Å hej
Just love your vlogs.
Thanks Hamza!
Your English is so good when I first started watching videos with your voice in it I genuinely thought you were born & raised in America
Next time when you show the meals and snacks can you tell us how many hours after takeoff/before landing they were served? Because I'm left wondering how long after the first service the second service was served. Thank you
Thanks for sharing
Hey, looks like a very nice trip report! I enjoyed it a lot. How would you compare the product from SAS to Lufthansa´s Premium Economy? The seats looked quite similar, but the tray table for example seemed to be out of lower quality and a bit smaller, right? Best regards
Thank you for your videos!! Dan, how similar is SAS Premium Economy to American Airlines on like a 777?
Nice report. Agree with the conclusion 😎
Takk Tord :)
Nice video I love your videos
Thanks Daniel!
I was just wondering if you did the upgrade at the airport or if it was available online. How did you do it? Thanks!
love your blogs
Thanks! :)
Nice report!
Thank you!
When you upgraded, did you get also different (higher) booking class (in order to collect miles)? Tnx!
No Dantorp! Im a Copenhagen Spotter, but forgot to catch you!!
Noooooooooooooooooo
Whatever nice video :D
When will you do a review on sas business class?
What date was this flight recorded? I saw a SAS A340 to San Fransisco on May 8
classic good dantorp Aviation video
Thanks!
Dantorp Aviation I like that you reply to commenters because most of the other channels don't reply to commenters
Nice video Daniel!
Thanks man!
Jag kommer ochså från sverige☺
Great
i live in norway and in norway the are many sas flight and i have flight to san fransico and it was nice :)
Have you had a business class fight with SAS? There prices seem very good for business class and the seats as you walked into the plane look very nice.
Hi,
Thanks for posting this video. It's quite excellent. How tall are you. I'd like to know for perspective as I'm 6' 3" and concerned about leg space.
when i flew to washington with sas we used the same gate as you did
amazing video
Thanks Tony!
The pampered one is slumming it!
So Good Flights With VIPs Businesses Guys...
Good report, the seat seems of higher standard than others I've seen (AF, LH), thanks for reviewing!
Thanks! I can't speak on AF, but Lufthansa definitely offers a better premium economy product :)
Thanks! I can't speak on AF, but Lufthansa definitely offers a better premium economy product :)
Another great report Dantorp, SASPlus does look quite underwhelming. But as you said, still fine for the 150EUR upgrade you paid for. The food doesn't look very attractive either. Thanks again for sharing
Brendan
have you ever tried american airlines myself and my wife are doing london to sydney via los angelis next year all first class ive been in american economy that was a good experience
Have you flown SAS business? I flew business CPH-IAD on an SAS A330 in March and was very pleased. Seats were great, food very good, and service could have used a bit of improvement but overall enjoyed it very much. I used 70K United miles one way and believe it was well worth it.
I definitely want to try it. Thanks for watching Eric :D
Good video and review of the hard and soft product. Did you order vegetarian? I didn't see any meat on either of your meals.
Flying WB to SFO probably meant you flew in daylight the entire time which would be disconcerting to on'e's body clock, your seat mate seemed very amenable to your filming the seat amenities, even holding your passport and boarding pass at one point while you were trying to figure out the tray table--upon arrival at SFO,did you do any sightseeing?
I knew the guy next to me haha! I love SF so definitely did sightseeing during my visit.
very nice.
I love your videos Dan! Question, do you explain to the passengers next to you that you are doing a trip report? Cause I would be a little awkward with someone next to me whilst I was explaining all the different features of the seat etc.
Anyways, I love your videos, one loyal subscriber here!
Kind Regards
Callum
Hey Callum thank you! Yes, sometimes it can be very awkward haha. Luckily, I knew the guy next to me this time so it wasn't an issue. That's why I tend to shy away from economy reviews (no pun intended).
Wish I could travel with you :( never know I might bump into you on my travels at some point!
Have a good day!
Callum
Great Video! The seats looked comfortable, but the food seems lacking for that long haul. Thanks
Exactly! Thanks Wade :)
I'm really interested to see a review on SAS' new Business Class product (on the a330 I think). It looks so nice!
There are plenty of them on RUclips. All you have to do is use the search field.
This has been updated..this is now standard economy seating
Was the 150 round trip or 1 way?
Thanks for the video! :) How was the WiFi and login process?
My pleasure Fabian! The login was easy, though the connection was extremely slow unfortunately :/
is SAS plus for inter European flights the same seats as this?
You should do a review on Lot Polish Airlines
Hi! I am going to travel to Toky with SAS from Copenhagen in SAS plus. I was wundering if the drinks are free in SAS plus? :)
Yes, they are :)
Have you ever thought about how annoying it is to be on a 11 hour flight with a guy talking to a camera next to you?
Sigurd Kristoffersen he is NOT takling constantly
They must know each other cuz he constantly put things on his table
@@axelstensaker6984 Its his Partner
hahaha, this! :)
Have you ever thought of the fact that the video is 18 minutes long while the flight is 11 hours? And how he doesn’t speak throughhout the shole video?
JAG ÄR FRÅN SVERIGE JAG ÄLSKAR DIG! IM FROM SWEDEN I LOVE YOU
But say if I were going to fly from Johannesburg to Cape Town and I would want to upgrade with miles, do I go to the desk at the gate?
Michael Matchett SAS doesn't fly this route. SAA doesn't have premium eco, but a decent domestic business class, so it's worth upgrading with *A miles. good lounge at JNB. it's only a 2 hr flight though...
Do you shoot all your videos with your Canon DSLR or do you use a videocam of some type? I am a still photographer who just purchased a GoPro but have yet to use it. The quality of the images in your videos is ALWAYS superlative and very informative. I am jealous of your ability to travel but then, the way the airlines have crammed economy with more and more seats, travel is no longer something I look forward to, especially with US flag carriers. Thank you for all of your videos.
Thanks Paul. I almost always use my DSLR, but we'll see what happens with electronics ban ;)
Many years ago I flew economy to and from HK with SAS. It was a pleasant experience but I doubt I'd ever fly long haul again like that. No business class no flight if it's over a couple of hours.
The SAS long haul flights have been updated with brand new interior so all in all, the economy experience is a lot better than it used to be.
Nice vid! :) Need to check out SAS ...
When do you upload LH First Class? You promised me you to do it soon :P
Next week! :D
Awww cant wait :D
SAS do not have business-class on their short haul flights. SAS plus is, SAS Plus regardless of where you fly. The only difference is the booking codes they use for the classes.
The thing under the seat in front of you is only the housing for the in flight entertainment for the first row seats (screens), as they dont have their own screens in the same way that the other rows have. They pull their screen out and uses it.
I also see that you had a preordered meal (the tag on the side of your trey), which is not the same meal as the standard choices in SAS Plus. I always eat the standard ones and become quite full as it is meat or fish.
Wow San Francisco USA And San Andreas Bonifacio Makati
how many kilometers is that from Kopenhagen to San fransisco? because the kerosine.
Almost 8800 km
This looks definitely superior to KLM's premium economy, especially on the B747. But KLM's service is much, much friendlier and attentive than SAS.
when did the upgrade get offered
I don't know why you get so much hate on OMAAT, keep up the great work!
Haters mean you're doing something right, lol! Thanks my friend :)
How was the wifi onboard?
I like your intros
I'm glad to hear that! :D
10:07 what is the song called? :/
I always try to upgrade to Premium economy after booking, but your trip was certainly lacking service and quality especially on the long haul product, but thanks for the heads up on your experience :)
Glad to share it with you Kenny!
You have the best seat
how come you don't do takeoff and landing vida
I live in Copenhagen and travel frequently to the States, especially the west coast. I usually fly BA or Lufthansa, but have been considering SAS for some time after they introduced their refurbished cabin on their old planes. Having watched this, I think I will stick to BA. They upgraded me to their premium economy last time (for free), and their product is way better than this.
PS: Daniel, it's such a pleasure watching your videos. You deliver facts and a helluva lot of charm at the same time. Thank you.
peerkbh planning a trip to CA next year and looking into BA and KLM....what is your experience with BA and what class have you traveled?
Fuck BA, no offence but the 2 times ive been onboard, once eco and business, the service and food was rubbish and the crew did not seem to be enthused to fly
peerkbh book with Norwegian they are very good
Just came back from Copenhagen, and I honestly think SAS was good, especially for the direct links to Scandinavia. Their meals, while small and not as big, are really tasty. I flew economy from SFO - CPH, and the F/A working out row seem out of sync. She threw a tray full of thrash next to my seat, but she cleaned it up and apologized. We all make mistakes so I brushed it off. Thankfully her partner was offering me coffee and smiling throughout the flight, so I enjoyed that.
On my way back I did CPH-Stockholm and Stockholm - LAX and I decided to ask is I could upgrade, and I was able to do it for 1500 Swedish Kr. Seats were nice and big, and the meals again were small, but tasty. In fact their last meal was a salad with ham and some really tasty potatoes, I loved it!
I think Dan nailed it though, the F/A are not as personable or nice. But I guess I’m not too picky. You get some bad ones and some good ones. But SAS will be my link to Scandinavia. Plus their flights are usually less than $600 roundtrip from LAX.
Jose Olivares you should consider flying Norwegian though. They don't have Business class onboard (they have eco and eco+) but they're very friendly and fly the newer 787s which are, in my opinion, better than the aging a340s that SAS have.
Great review and I think you were fair, considering some of the disappointments. That amenity kit was just poor taste and the service lacking.
I have flown in A343 in the past on a relatively short route, big aircraft with a feel of tons of inertia in its manoeuvres.
Im saving up my sas point to go on buisnis with them =)
please Go to the Dominican Republic Las Americas International airport please
anyone notice the dude sneaking into the picture on the tablet screen
What about Air Swiss ?
For the food part that’s bad I live in Chicago and I just flew home from Copenhagen and the meal on SAS in economy was bigger 😬
He had a pre-ordered special meal, so it doesn't really represent what you actually get in Premium Economy.
is your partner British by any chance. just happened to notice the colour of the second passport
Dantorp Where fromm sweden are you from? I am from Skåne
He’s Danish a little late i know
This is actually nicer than Alaska Airlines first class. Wow..
Alaska Airlines don't fly long hauls, the short haul SAS Plus looks looks very different
Someone finally got what the wall is really called. The Bulkhead same as a ship.
The little drink , here is the footrest this is cool the menu, very interesting.......go do something interesting with your time.
I am so sorry to see how SAS service has deteriorated so, even though I am dating myself, my first ever flight with SAS was back in the DC-7C days and I flew them from Anchorage to Copenhagen and oh my what service, three full meals on the flight and an enroute stop at Stavanger, Norway since we could not land at Copenhagen that early in the morning, due to fog, so seeing the service you received is very disheartening, though nice, in my opinion doesn't match what they used to have....thanks so much.
Except that the price of the ticket was much higher back then, in relative terms, and there was no competition from low cost airlines. Low cost airlines drags everyone down to the cheap level.
The market has changed.
Who is the person on the seat next to you?
I was wondering too. Dantorp Aviation , did he travel with you?
It's his partner i think
That's Oskar - Dan's partner. They always travel together.
Great Video but I wouldn't fly SAS Prem Economy
Enjoyable review. You make some good points about the SAS premium offering. This has probably been asked before but what sort of work do you do that allows you to travel so much? #dreamjob ☺️
Thanks Adam. I'm a full time travel blogger, so I'm incredibly blessed that this is my job. I will make some videos on that topic soon!
Dantorp Aviation Travel blogging. That is a dream job. 😍
The A340 still is quieter than the A350. The only advantages I see on the A350 are wider fuselage and higher thrust, but for peace of ears and head, the A340 is like a Rolls-Royce if compared to the A350.
On Air Serbia flights every business seat gets a personal ipad for IFE
Är du svensk och var det möjligtvis "björnpilot" som var kapten under denna resan? :D
Ja jag är svensk Axel! Tror inte han var pilot på denna resan :/
did you get access to a lounge? if you flew them intra Europe Business you got access to a lounge no? not that SAS lounges are something to brag about?
SAS Plus is not business on intra european flights, it is just premium economy.
