The 7950X has recently become popular for mining a specific cryptocurrency due to the CPU's support of AVX2 and AVX512 support. That's of course driving the price of these chips up.
You would think so. From articles reported a couple weeks ago, crypto miners were buying up 7950X, supply and demand would drive up the prices as we’ve seen. The 7950X3Ds are marketed as gaming CPUs and don’t have the raw CPU speed of the non-3D VCache model which handles CPU workloads better.

i payed 600 euro for my 7950X on march 2023. Now it's 526 euro on amazon The Netherlands. So that's at least a 12% price drop.. Your sheet is region specific so it would seem. For me i find a 12% drop reasonable .. i would love to see the price stay on this level so that when the new cpu's come out i could sell mine for maybe 450 euro ???
Ive been waiting on a price cut for 5700x/5800x3d, but to no avail. I want to upgrade from my 5600x. They are really standing firm on their prices right now.
AMD knows that only those who have to buy a CPU will do it now, few months before launch of 9000 cpus, so they will milk them. Otherwise, ryzen 7700 is 230 in europe, for tray edition without a cooler. That is the beat deal i think. But in any case, wait for next gen. And then buy the new one, or 7000 at a reduced price.
AMD will win on the CPU this year due to the longevity of their platforms. Meaning, no need to purchase a new motherboard if it already supports AM5. Intel on the other hand, new CPU + new motherboard. Consumers now are appreciating longevity of a platform rather than the always having the bleeding edge.
Debating on upgrading to a 7800X3D right now. Still well priced in Europe at around 350 and want a X3D version. Might take a while before the 9800X3D releases. Tough to make a decision right now.
@kelley09162 as far as I've seen they won't drop prices. They'll keep them high in purpose so people will buy the new stuff. Thats how they've done that in the past.
@PCBuilderChannel appreciate the input. Took some time to think about it and came to the same conclusion. Ordering the new parts tonight, very excited!
Im personally gonna wait till the 16th intel cpu. I dont wanna deal with the possibility of a janky 15th gen launch. I feel my 12600k is still more than enough, and I just got my 4080S coming tomorrow
Man I am glad I got my 12900K and 3080Ti, no power connectors burning up and CPU is stable, might use all more power on the 3080ti but what's up with the newer generation stuff, even DD4 seems more stable than DDR5
the only difference between the 7600 and the 7600s and it a pretty big one is the wattage which means heat , the 7600 65w base and the 7600x base is 105w which is big difference
I’m surprised you don’t chart the i9 12900K, I recently bought one for $279 at Microcenter and they’re cheaper than the 13900K and 14900K at Amazon for those who aren’t lucky enough to have a local Microcenter.
Everyone ignores the 12900K and 3080ti, not sure why, my Omen 45L has been a rock solid system. 12900K hangs with any of these processors and is reliable.
Was looking at the 7800x 3d to help with some of the crazy battles in HellDivers. I play at 4k and it occasionally dips below 60 on really big battles. I currently have a 5800x / 4080
The 5800X is bottlenecking that 4080 so you would see a boost with a CPU upgrade. If you want to stay in AM4 you could consider dropping in a 5800X3D instead. See our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video for more
newegg in canada must not update as fast as the US one does, I haven't seen prices budge on anything. Unless conversion between USD and CAD is really offsetting all the price reductions as they fluctuate that exactly.
Canadian prices suck compared to the U.S. .I've been looking at the prices of parts and pre-built systems for the last couple of months here in Canada and it doesn't make any sense. The prices are way cheaper in the States! Even if you do the conversion it comes out cheaper (our dollar is not that strong) sometimes buying from the U.S. Frustrating is an understatement!
Well... all i hope is that Ryzen 5 9600 comes out at least below 300$(wouldnt complain if it ends up at 229-249$) and with a decent enough performance difference with the 5600 wich is the one i have at the moment, still gonna wait until mid 2025 tho cuz usually they end droping the price several months later.
Awesome video update now i'll get ryzen 5 5500, i3 12100f, 12400f, 12600k/kf and ryzen 5 5600 are on top 5 budget gaming cpu, ryzen 5 7600/x, ryzen 7 5700x3d/5800x3d and i5 13600k are on top 3 mid-range gaming cpu , and the no.1 is a ryzen 7 7800x3d the king gaming cpu from high-end. #PcBuilder your the best ever🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Stay away from windows 11, riddled with annoying bugs (can't find the mouse, graphics flash as if switching from night to day mode back and forth, VR with AMD 7000's series CPU doesn't work, etc, etc)... It's either windows 11, the 7800X3D or the 7900XTX... me thinks it's windows 11. STAY AWAY!
Most people don't have those kinds of problems on windows 11 so I think it's probably something else on your computer. Probably a graphics driver issue due to the flashing you're mentioning.

Saludos from Costa Rica Jason. Am looking to jump up to am5 but am thinking of waiting till ryzen 9000 is out. My question is this will there be a b750 board release or will b650 drive the next CPU skus? Thanks again
@Mdxceed2 there have been no leaks that I'm aware of mentioning b750 yet. Which is stangre cosidering how close were are zen5. I would imagine there would be one but have not seen info from manufacturers confirming this.
I got the 7800x3d for my first pc build about a month ago, $399. For some reason I was thinking I paid $500 and had to look thinking I got ripped off, but nope! What a beautiful CPU though.. no regrets!
I can't believe Intel isn't dropping prices on their high end. They're getting thrashed by the 7800x3d, and having crashing issues. I wouldn't keep one if someone gave it to me. Not to mention how teriibly inefficient and hot they are. You can cool a 7800x3d with a $30 air cooler. Plus, to get max performance from them, you need both a super expensive memory kit and high end motherboard that'll support your fast memory.
Hey Jason I just wanted to know if it is worth going to the am5 platform right now or wait on the next cpu launching. Currently running my rx 6700xt and Ryzen 5 5600x. Also is the ryzen 7 5800x3d a good value cpu upgrade from the ryzen 5600x?
For that GPU the 5600 is absolutely fine. 5800X3D won't net you much but if you are going to upgrade the GPU to a big one then yes go 5700X3D or 5800X3d.
I was one of the fortunate few to get a 3080 ftw3 ultra at release but I'm still sitting on the 8700k at 5ghz and 32g ddr4. I think it's finally time for an upgrade. 13700k looks good to me at the current price. What do you fellas think? Hold the line, or upgrade?
I don't think that! It performs about the same as the 5600 so it is bottlenecking your GPU and if building new the motherboard costs keep me from recommending it over the 5600. But if you have it and your happy thats great!
Are these prices going up because of the manufacturer or another reason? I cannot quite understand how a CPU that's been out for a year goes up 4, 10, 22% just like that....

i payed 600 euro for my 7950X on march 2023.
I run a 12700kf with a 4080. Runs great. But I can't wait for the new ryzen cpus for an upgrade.
Ive been waiting on a price cut for 5700x/5800x3d, but to no avail. I want to upgrade from my 5600x. They are really standing firm on their prices right now.
I was hoping the 7800x3d was slashed. But that chip is in high demand so probably expecting too much.
The 7950X CPU is being used by some kind of crypto miners, that's why its price went up. Thumbs up for great videos!
14700 still €480. Not even the K.
See if the 7900(X) drops soon. Then I buy that one. €390 right now.
14500 is cheaper and performs equal to 12700k in productivity tasks.
Debating on upgrading to a 7800X3D right now. Still well priced in Europe at around 350 and want a X3D version. Might take a while before the 9800X3D releases. Tough to make a decision right now.
You could wait till Ryzen 9000 Series come out to see if the 7800X3D drops in price but 350 isn't a bad price for it if you want it now.
@kelley09162 as far as I've seen they won't drop prices. They'll keep them high in purpose so people will buy the new stuff. Thats how they've done that in the past.
I'd go for it personally
@PCBuilderChannel appreciate the input. Took some time to think about it and came to the same conclusion. Ordering the new parts tonight, very excited!
Every week he keeps saying the 7800x3d is the best, arguably better then 7950x3d, and surprised they keep raising the price for us.
The latest crypto craze created a demand for the 7950x, using the CPU this time around instead of a GPU to mine depleted stock a few weeks back.
Now that I have a gpu with 12GB of VRAM I can start thinking about going to AM5 from my B660 intel i7
Today bought from aliexpress new 5700x3d for 175$
I am really looking forward to seeing what Ryzen 9000 has in store. Hopefully, they will launch with some mid range processors
I think the 7950x were used for crypto mining they could make $3 a day, I think they sold out
I got my 7700x for $189 on eBay when they first came out 😂, it was from a raffle winner who didn't want it and it was never installed
7950X is being used to crypto mine. Because of it's strong AVX.
Im personally gonna wait till the 16th intel cpu. I dont wanna deal with the possibility of a janky 15th gen launch. I feel my 12600k is still more than enough, and I just got my 4080S coming tomorrow
I have hopes for 15th gen (I think they are going to call it like Ultra Core 200 or something wonky). But 12600K is still going strong!
5800X still going strong, I play at 4K so the CPU is not in THAT important role.
58x gang 🤙🏾
Well, when you're playing at 4k, the cpu isn't doing much work compared to the gpu anyways, lol
Still going strong! :)
Miners are buying the 7950X3D and I think AMD is taking advantage of that.
Man I am glad I got my 12900K and 3080Ti, no power connectors burning up and CPU is stable, might use all more power on the 3080ti but what's up with the newer generation stuff, even DD4 seems more stable than DDR5
What ram
Rocking 3900x with Nocthua nhd15. Gonna grab 9800x3d
May be coming!
Nobody wants an unstable Intel CPU, the price cuts reflect this ..
they can charge stupid prices if they want peopel will just buy a 7800x3d as it can play any game out there better then anything.
There is no way AMD will release there next 3D lineup before mid 2025.

Ryzen prices going up does not make sense. They will never clear their inventory at those increased prices now that 9000 series are coming out soon.
the only difference between the 7600 and the 7600s and it a pretty big one is the wattage which means heat , the 7600 65w base and the 7600x base is 105w which is big difference
7950x is over priced because of crypto mining
I got a Ryzen 7 7700 for $259.99 at Microcenter two weeks ago
Wth is going with the r5 5600 going up in price like that? I don't understand 😅
Price to performance it just doesn't compete with the Ryzen competition.
Less people are building. They better un-greed this stuff.
They ran out of 7950x due to miners. It has no use for gamers.
See our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video for more
The prices are up on the high end because of that crypto that is mined with amd only instruction set
newegg in canada must not update as fast as the US one does, I haven't seen prices budge on anything. Unless conversion between USD and CAD is really offsetting all the price reductions as they fluctuate that exactly.
Frustrating!
I believe microcenter is still selling the 7800x3d for $350
They are, just picked one up this week. Higher prices might be due to higher demands maybe.
The 7800X3D has been an absolute beast for me.
Thanks so much! And we love to hear it, glad to help.
Am currently on Am4 platform
5800x3d 16GB cl16 ddr4 3600mhz
6700xt coolermaster illusion Aio
Pretty happy with my specs also with 1080p 165hz monitor i play 1080p only and am getting more than 80fps on ultra setting and with Fsr am getting more than 100fps
What do you think i should upgrade? Do you think this pc can last atleast 3,4 years ? I might think to upgrade to 2K monitor with 4070tiS or 7 series radeon in future .
And this boom cat is awesome ❤️.
Unless you are unhappy with your performance you don't need to upgrade anytime soon!
I built a 7800X3D ($350 after rebate), B650E ($200), 7900 GRE ($550) in March 2024. The price:performance was too good to pass up.
Nice!
Saludos from Costa Rica Jason. Am looking to jump up to am5 but am thinking of waiting till ryzen 9000 is out. My question is this will there be a b750 board release or will b650 drive the next CPU skus? Thanks again
Manufacturers already announced bios updates to support 9000 series of cpus on current motherboards.
@@deviantbuilds Ok, but B750?
@Mdxceed2 there have been no leaks that I'm aware of mentioning b750 yet. Which is stangre cosidering how close were are zen5.
I would imagine there would be one but have not seen info from manufacturers confirming this.
I got the 7800x3d for my first pc build about a month ago, $399. For some reason I was thinking I paid $500 and had to look thinking I got ripped off, but nope! What a beautiful CPU though.. no regrets!
Great CPU!
Video editing with an Intel "F"?? Weird. 🤢
I agree its strange
Hey Jason
I just wanted to know if it is worth going to the am5 platform right now or wait on the next cpu launching. Currently running my rx 6700xt and Ryzen 5 5600x. Also is the ryzen 7 5800x3d a good value cpu upgrade from the ryzen 5600x?
I would say no because new CPUs are coming out.
Also both the 5700X3D and 5800X3D are great options if you want to upgrade.
For that GPU the 5600 is absolutely fine. 5800X3D won't net you much but if you are going to upgrade the GPU to a big one then yes go 5700X3D or 5800X3d.
Ryzen 9000 is overkill for gaming
I was one of the fortunate few to get a 3080 ftw3 ultra at release but I'm still sitting on the 8700k at 5ghz and 32g ddr4.
I think it's finally time for an upgrade.
13700k looks good to me at the current price.
What do you fellas think? Hold the line, or upgrade?
Depends on what you're doing with the PC but I would probably say hold if you can wait till the Fall as new Intel CPUs will come out on a new Socket.
Playing stardew valley and BG3,
Looking forward to Manor Lords and Ghost of Thushima on PC
Yes!
I hv a 650w laying around, thinking to build a 7600/7600x + 7900 gre ? Thoughts ?
Good combo for CPU/GPU. Check out our latest Best Builds April video for a great sample 7600 build guide.
I just got done installing a 7900xt and im running a 12400. Im honestly super happy. But it seems you think the 12400 is trash
I don't think that! It performs about the same as the 5600 so it is bottlenecking your GPU and if building new the motherboard costs keep me from recommending it over the 5600. But if you have it and your happy thats great!
Day to day I play World of Warships, now and then I switch to God of War, Warhammer Dawn of War Dark Crusade or Master of Orion (new version).
Nice!
Okay… I get it.. I bought the 7 7800x3d and now the 9 is being reduced fuck my life 😂😢
the 7800X3D is the best you could have bought so you have done great
Are these prices going up because of the manufacturer or another reason? I cannot quite understand how a CPU that's been out for a year goes up 4, 10, 22% just like that....
Id appreciate it if you spent 10 seconds reminding people that the 7500f exist.
I forget it exists a lot because it isn't available in the US. I wish it were!!
