Thanks for sharing this beautiful video of awesome sailing conditions. It's winter here on the western end of Lake Ontario and the boats all have been pulled and are on the hard. I barely got any sail time this year due to the pandemic and being in between boats at the worse time. Bringing my new to me boat home from Lake Champlain was the best experience I had this year. I'll pass this off season with upgrades and watching your videos. Keep them coming.
Thanks for the video. I guess you wanted to say, when you get the bigger waves and not the rogue waves. You would know for sure if you got a rogue wave :-)
You can make an upgrade and put tray under engine so you can reuse oil ;) Anyway, proper sailing on proper sailboat. I am surprised that sea can be blue. On East Cost is brown or gray ;)
Yes it's incredible here isn't it. We were so tempted to go to the Isles of Scilly, where we're told it's even better, but just don't have the time on this trip. Thanks for the support though and the comment. Every bit of feedback really helps
Nice episode. Nice cliff hanger! What self steering do you use? That oil leak looks terrible, I hope you managed to sort it! One thing confused me. You had wind on the nose heading west from Newlyn so how did you also have it on the nose heading east to St. Ives?
Oil leak looks like the sump gasket, from the few seconds I could see, didn’t appear to be higher like the timing cover? Wow ya really can’t catch a break with theses short sharp seas? Nose on the whole way, i wonder if ya would have benefited bearing away, to more of a Closed haul, amost to to beam reach tack then tack to a port side beam reach, just for comfort, probably would have got there in the same amount of time? Of course it all looks different on camera then real life..
Trev Hedges the oil leak is from the oil pump gasket I think. There’s no sump as such on these old Volvos, well there is but it’s cast in place. To access the sump you remove the two side plates but it’s not coming from there. It’s either the oil pump it’s self or the timing cover like you say
Omg, 'Sailing the Atlantic Ocean'? Not a clue! This is basic coast hopping, absolutely nothing to do with oceans! God save us from amateur sailors and their crappy videos.
You really can see that ur heart at sea I love watch these trips and what a sight

Sailing Moon Shadow yes the oil leak is bad but we’re able to contain it for now until I can fix it’s we use an Autohelm ST2000

Dodgy waters lands end and Portishead to
We had a great run up from lands end! Fantastic conditions.
Had to motorsail at bit purely because the wind was bang on the nose
sailing?
On that trip we sailed about 8hours and motor sailed about 4 hours. That’s fine in my book. We aren’t out to prove anything
