Just love Julian Casablancas’s statement regarding Ariel Pink “If you grew up in a world where Ariel Pink was popular then you would say “I don’t see how Ed Sheeran can be popular.” Ariel Pink deserved better recognition for his music.
Ariel is truly a chameleon. He's somewhere between the past and the future. Somewhere between male and female. His music feels like you've heard it before, like you stumbled on a staticy AM Radio station in your dad's car. Then you turn a corner and the station goes staticy again and you hear another odd tune, totally different but it's still Ariel.
@@mihkelmartkivisild8201 he doesn’t seem too far gone, at least to me, and I personally hold more liberal views. I may not agree with what he thinks or says, but he’s still cool

I just discovered Ariel pink by accident and I'm obsessed now. I think I've listened to this song at least 5 times a day for the last week, I can't put my finger on it but something about this song just touches my soul, it's so beautiful and haunting
@Kristen Carlson. If you should check out his girlfriend Charlotte Ercoli Coe's music. She's the one singing back up vocals on this track. Her music is on sound cloud. Her newest single "one spring evening" also has a very cool video on you tube.

man i love this guy and his music. makes me feel so much less alone. how he is not one of the most popular artists in the world ill never understand. he makes listening to anyone else hard because of how good he is. (not necessarily this song but his whole discography).
because of assholes like 1992 and the rest of the indie kids. who hate sharing their music with other people. just to be different from the "mainstream"
really? I mean he makes quality shit but his aesthetic is not all that accessible. I'm sure if you shared this with someone that is a relatively casual music listener I think they'd be disoriented by the fidelity of the recordings and throwback melodies.
There hasn't been a single person I've ever shared things like: Can't Hear My Eyes, Lipstick, Beverly Kills, Fright Night, even Among Dreams, Another Weekend etc etc and dozens more in between that hasn't reacted positively with. It's just his weird massive output of styles and whacky promotion/presentation just makes his stuff uncomfortable to navigate or difficult to let ppl just play records start to finish haha. And I think part of that is intentional.
i love how almost all his songs sound like they could have been made anywhere from the 60s-80s but it is also still kinda modern and unique. ariel's music is so cool
iggyfuntime666 Of this style? Not that I can recollect but the hottest album out right now is that new Frankie & The Withchfingers "Brain Hotel" album... No damn doubt! Dunno if any of you boys or girls here like pure rock n roll though! 😋

Ariel Pink is just amazing, all his albums are very well done with the aesthetic he has smoothly amped up as the years have gone by. I literally think he is the Bowie of these days, no one compares, he is in a league of his own. His latest album is very good because I think it sounds kind of like one of his first albums, the Doldrums or even Before Today but the production on these songs and what he was going for, man I think he hit yet another home run. Pom pom was a very fun musical experience too, but this album feels more inspired by his past work which makes it that much better
Pom Pom's first 8 songs were great, Pom Pom would've been better if it were only aabout 13 songs or less. White Freckles is my favrite Ariel Pink song.
I've heard of the Bowie analogy before & totally agree. Dedicated might be my all-time fave AP album, that's including his early stuff. It's that good. Peak of his career. Hope he maintains this level of writing for many years to come
@@hippiecheezburger5457 he made a new album and is releasing it under his own label and is playing the material at shows so all the canceling backfired lol
This was such a good time. He performed most of what would become "Dedicated to Bobby Jameson" at his Day for Night slot in December of 2016 and I was completely stoked to hear it. Summer/Fall of '17 was "Another Weekend", this track and finally the album, which I rate among his best. It feels like ages ago now.
There are times when I listen to this song and I can't stop smiling. It's such a sweet, pure and joyful song, it feels like a cotton candy dream, like my best friend is calling me up at night in excitement to show me a new song they've written.
