A few corrections: Canis Rex gets a free battle strat every TURN not round, so you can do a free reroll in your turn as well as your opponent's turn. When Canis dies, your opponent still gets Bring It Down since that goes by the model alone. Anything that says 'unit' like Assassinate, No Prisoners, etc they do have to kill Sir Hekhtur in order to score.

    • @vfminiatures
      @vfminiatures  11 месяцев назад +22

Thank you for the correction though it specifically says on Sir Hecktur’s card “Your Canis Rex unit is not considered to be destroyed until Sir Hekhtur is also destroyed.”
So I’m pretty sure it should mean everything including secondaries

@@vfminiatures the bring it down card specifes vehicle model rather than unit, meaning even though the unit isnt dead the vehicle model is dead. he wont count as dead for overwhelming force or no prisoners though as they specify unit. its a stupid interaction that should be changed cause theres no reason for it to only work half the time but as of now thats how it does work annoyingly.

Im about to start my first 40k army and i decided for Knights. Fantasy player here. First i wanted Custodes or Tyranids but after some thinking (and recently bought an airbrush) it is obvious for me that i will enjoy painting this more than any other army im still working on my high elves so i need some big machines :D Thanks for the info that helped to choose with what to start. 1 think i dont know/understand - what about psychic powers? Are knights somehow resistant? Can we take an inquisitor or something or is that useless?

    • @vfminiatures
      @vfminiatures  7 месяцев назад +5

My absolute pleasure! And welcome to the hobby 💪
Re. psychic powers - those are mostly normal shooting attacks now in 10th so your invulnerable save and toughness will help you protect yourself against them, for anything else that bypasses that like mortal wounds - you have the FNP in your detachment. Taking an assassin is a good idea, but not for that - for scoring. For honor and glory my friend!

So happy the atrapos gets some love. My favorite knight honestly and i find him highly underrated, though someone just won a tournament running three of them in a list. Atrapos and 4 helverins is 1000pts exactly as of now. My buddies and i are running 1000 pt games since theyre new to the hobby and dont have 2000pts yet. Do you think it would be better to sub out a helverin in a 1000pt list like that for a wargliave and some agents?

Ability sheild breaker no save of any kind can be made minimum 4 dmg kills most characters
If you happen to roll a 6 roll a 6 to hit you get additional dmg 3 minimum 7 believe that's all except primarch type characters
Have him in strat reserves 48 inch range and come off a corner and blame.

For my List I reach 2000pts
Canis Rex as bait on center obj for turn 1, can be targeted for Rotate Ion Shields for improved durability, and when he is damaged, I can use Shoulder the Burden to provide him a turn when he goes down in glory inflicting enough damages, then when the Knight is killed, I can get Hektur to safety to deny points.
Back lane is held by a Castellan, his role is to annihilate anything that can easily kill my big knights, and create holes in ennemy formation.
Once said holes are made, I can deepdive a Paladin with Mysterious Guardian, idealy, his role is to kill ennemy warlord, by fire or melee. Once it's done, I can reposition it with MG.
Both wings are covered by a tandem of Helverin and Warglaive, Helverin to kill elites, Warglaive for vehicules and they both have Heavy Stubber for cheap infantry.
So far, it's quite polyvalent and works good. 1 Dominus, 2 Questoris, 4 Armigers, I have enough models to cover and controll 3/4 of the map.

I'm playing my first game of Knights tomorrow and so I've been trying to read up a little and get a broader understanding of how to play them.
I'm going against Green Tide orks which probably isn't gonna be great for me.
    My list is:
    Castellan: Plasma + Volcanic Lance
    Paladin: Rapid-fire cannon + Chainsword
    Warden: Avenger gatling + chainsword
    3x Warglaive with stubbers
1 squad Voidsmen-at-arms (proxied with Marine Scouts)
I don't have any other models to use, but should I switch out any weapons here? Like are the Warglaives just better with more melta even though stubbers are more shots? Are the extra shots going to matter all that much vs Green Tide? Boyz just have 1 wound so maybe worth it?
Any tips would be appreciated :D

    • @vfminiatures
      @vfminiatures  2 месяца назад +1

Best of luck in your first game! Don’t stress too much about it, your main goal is to enjoy it and learn from it.
I’d swap the stubbers just because meltas are useful for opening trucks. Other than that your list is ok, you have sweep on your Warglaives that’s going to be your best weapon against boys. Your goal is to make sure you charge them first. You are move 12” they are move 6”, with advance/charge on the Waaagh turn. This means that in vacuum you will always have a better chance of charging first. Of course, there is terrain, rolls and other things that will affect it, but in general you have this advantage, in addition to having shooting. Be careful of “Go Get em” strat because for 1CP an Ork unit can move 6” right after you shoot it with anything. They can even get into engagement range this way if you are within 7” of them. And this way as two “fight normally” units they’ll get to fight first. So make sure whenever you shoot - that nothing can use this start and mess up your activations.
May the dice gods be on your side🤗 Let me know how it goes!

I'll switch out to melta then for the warglaives!
Do you still recommend "Lay low the tyrant" in this matchup? I figured they have enough units to cover their backs that it wouldn't matter as much if I went with "Reclaim the Realm", but would the +1 to move, advance, and charge might be an idea if I want to make sure I get the first charge?

My 2k list: Castellan, warden, lancer, 2x warglaive, one helverin + eversor. Mythic hero on the warden, mysterious guardian on the lancer. Thats exactly 2k points.
My plan: Lancer charges straight forward on some flank (or disappears and respawns next to the warlord, depending on the enemy), warglaives cover the warden marching through the middle getting the -1dmg bonds and the castellan is on a flank covering the eversor thats causing some mayhem. Helverin's staying on or close to the home objective.
Due to the lancer beeing still in a box and the warden awaiting the final assembly the plan remains a theory.

Rule book says you must select the Warlord among your characters, which is strange for knights as smaller ones can’t be characters as far as I see. Weird one. Chaos knights have a character wardog so I assume it’s intentional. I’ve checked FAQs but don’t see an answer there as well, strange

So ask your opponent what points they give up before game starts, eg they may have a lot of characters or vehicles, and it may be good to take fixed secondary objectives.
BUT tactical also works REALLY well, but you HAVE to plan ahead. There is like 8-9 cards that only require you to be in the right place in the right time, so you can deploy and move accordingly as long as you draw one of those cards your going to score
The other thing is you also need to sometimes abandon a card as you can score it, BUT THEN your knight who scored DIES as the opponent gets him!
So debate if you need the points OR you need the Knight
It’s also not about scoring…you have to deny the enemy their points.
Every move your model makes, and every shot you take is about scoring or denying points
You also have to become a pro at target priority and know that dice can easily fail! So you need to make sure you can throw other knights on a key enemy target
You have to be cagey - deploy so NOTHING can be shot if you go 2nd
It’s far better to have a knight do NOTHING for a turn than expose themselves to take a shot, and then die shortly after
Rather to have a model love and continue to be a threat
Mysterious guardian is amazing as you can redploy and rapid ingress
      Sticky banner is amazing
Finally don’t listen to the hype train
You can happy play PURE knights
      I went 4 wins, 2 loses, 27/168 rank
Round 6 I literally lost by 2 pts bs Grey Knihhts and needed to make a 5++ on a die with reroll, or then make 1 6++ FNP go win - would have gone 5-1 and come 14th vs 27
I ran lancer, castigator (deepstike), 5 glaives, and 2 Helverian

The Acheron's range is rather low, and its output isn't really outstanding even compared to other Knights of the same cost.
Its flame cannon is alright, but very swingy. Its melee is the same as most other big knights, but its abilities are quite a bit worse.
Causing Warglaives to force battleshock in melee is not a great ability, especially compared to the Gallant, and Paladin which will allow the Warglaive to try and just pick up the unit you charged; or the Warden which can make your Warglaives incredibly resilient.
And removing Cover with its other ability, while good, there are better abilities that accomplish similar effects.
Like the Knights Magaera and Styrix which give their bondsmen ignores cover on all weapons, allowing them to change targets if what you initially shot either dies or becomes an unappealing target.
