For someone like me who has no idea on how to do any electrical wiring this is an awesome video. Thanks for showing in detail the whole process of wiring the relay and horn using the horn switch on the bike.👍
Want to thank you for explaining this as I was able to take the old horn off my Shadow cruiser and fit the air horn which came with no instructions. The way you set it out first is a good idea. Really appreciate your time showing us. The air horn is very loud now, but my son said it sounds like an old Cadillac. ha.
Hahaha that's awesome! Thanks for the reply, it's good to know that even though this video was based around the V-Star you were able to apply it to your Shadow. Next step is for YOU to show us how to mount an air horn on your son's bicycle!!!
Good video. I agree with basically everything here. Some suggestions - use quality insulted spade connectors specific to that application and if you are working with a CANBUS bike, use a diode protected relay. I always try to avoid connections directly to the battery, instead tie into the hot side of the starter relay for the #30 fused lead, (-) lead from the horn is grounded to the main frame.
Agree! I’m installing a Bad Boy horn to my V Star 650 my self thanks to this video . I never ever work with connecting nothing with cables , and here I am feeling like an experience electrician cause of the video tutorial ! Thanks .
Perfect instructions! I watched dozens of other videos but yours did it. Clearly explained wiring and all other steps. I could do it with my eyes closed now. Thank you!
An excellent, detailed explanation. Thank you. I also have a 2005 (but highly bobberized) V-Star 650 Custom. I've always wanted to replace the puny stock horn, and just purchased the chrome (since my bike has lots of it) Stebel Nautilus Compact Tuning horn. My mechanic is going to install it, and I will definitely give him this link. Greetings from Brazil. Update: Now nstalled and LOUD ! Many thanks from Brazil.
I ordered the same horn and was just worried about the fitting and wiring thing - thanks to your video i just found it just in time and it's really gonna help me! I'll share the post installation reviews as per your video! Amazing! Thanks :) 😇🙏🌈💚☘️
Best install video on the channel Thanks very helpful unlike the other videos that show the old horn sound test and show the new horn sound test WHOOOOhoooo
Very nice video man - thank you, i was literally confused over the installation but you made it extra clear - thank you again you just saved me $70 on installation
Great video! Everything is crystal clear except for one thing...the amperage of the fuse. What is the amperage of the fuse, please? **UPDATE** I just found your video on how to make the wiring kit for the horn. Thanks again, buddy!!
really great very easy to understand video thanks for taking the time and sharing the love . not just about fitting a stebil but about how relays work too if fitting spot lights or 12v power socket or what ever from a switched live like the tail light or front park light live wire . and remember a loud horn will help but keeping the speed down and eyes peeled are important to prevent wrecking your bike breaking your bones or maybe even getting whacked by a cloud cuckoo land road user the roads are full of them . ride safe dudes .
Thank you for watching! Just so you know I accidentall mislabeled the stock horn wires (pink and brown) and reversed the polarity. However, I didn't bother to change it only because the coil inside this relay will activate either way with no ill effects.
I have a xvs 650 custom 2014, Do I have to buy a battery with higher amps? I believe my stock battery is 10 amps the product description says 18 amps. will I have any issues? Perfect video by the way thanks.
so I installed using brackets that I made ( there weren't two brackets holding factory horn as shown in this video) and had them configured in a triangle like the set up in this video. Problem is that because there is only ONE place to bolt the unit on to the triangle setup, I noticed WAY to much "springiness" from the unit. I fear that stress cracks may develop down the road and the horn would eventually break off. So I'm in limbo here trying to figure out a MORE secure way of installing the horn unit.
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful in understanding my wiring (1982 Suzuki GS11000G) as I connect my Stebel to my horn button. My confusion is how to connect the wiring to my Horn button. It looks as if I connect 86 and 85 to the two wires on my horn button. In depressing the button, I'm closing the circuit and getting sound.
Yea buddy! Great vid!! I have installed a Rivco air horn quite some time ago on my Honda VTX. They are eye catchers as they are on the edge of my highway bar on the left side. I am looking to add another air horn to the right side. Since the dual Rivco trumpets are high pitched high tone and sound just like your horn you just installed, I want a low tone. If Stebel makes a lower tone, that would be excellent. I like how responsive the horn is to pressing the button. It sounds like instant air power to the horn. I'm curious also, what the PSI is on the pump supplied. Awesome video installing it, as my friend just got a Vstar 650, and now I can help them install a horn like this on theirs too! Looks pretty easy and straight forward. Ride safe sir!
Brilliant!!!! I had a air horn and mounted it where the stock horn is and it kept hitting my front fender, no good, eventually the bolt come loose and I lost it!
Great video. I have a question about your mounting bolts did the bolt with the 90° threaded hole at the head come with your purchase or did you pick that up somewhere else. My horn only came with one bolt and one nut. Thanks
I apologize for the late reply, was up in the Arctic. That mounting bracket came with my horn. I'd ask the place you purchased it from if it is an authentic Stebil. To solve the issue though, I'd recommend figuring out exactly where you'd like to mount it and then checking with a hardware store to see what options you have. You should also look into acquiring a thread lock. Good luck!!
Great video. What's the Amp on that Relay ? Mine came with 20amps relay but when I try to simulate on the table (using 12v battery not on the bike) it barely makes any sound. I remove the relay and it's really loud. Just suspecting relay is bad. Or it needs to be on the running bike ?

Great question! It really depends on the wiring of your bike. Not using a relay can decrease the performance of your horn, burn out your horn switch, wires or affect other systems such as the ignition, headlights, anything on the same circuit. The safest bet on any vehicle is to install a relay along with a fuse. That way the horn is operating on its own circuit and will not cause a failure to other systems. It would really suck if your bike wouldn't start because you used your horn the day before.

Well done video approaching the installation as an instructor with laying out the work and providing clear directions.
Wow thank you very much. I never thought of it like that! Thanks!!
Aloha Anthony! You have the most explanatory comprehensive videos. I am a novice & really learn from you. Please keep up the great You Tuber work!

Excellent video, thanks! I really likes the comparison with differing distances to the setup!
Ordered a similar horn with the same setup, the wiring layout was super helpful! Thanks!
These horns are a MUST. I have one on my sporty and just got one for my new KLR650. I can barely hear the KLR horn.

Good Job man, many youtubers should lear from you, straight to the point without the unnecessary bla, bla, bla
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Great video!
Everything is crystal clear except for one thing...the amperage of the fuse.
What is the amperage of the fuse, please?
**UPDATE**
I just found your video on how to make the wiring kit for the horn.
Thanks again, buddy!!
Awesome thanks man!
If anyone else is curious it's a 20amp fuse. The wiring kit video goes into greater detail.
Very understandable! You should do an entire Motorcycle procedure series! (For my 90 Yamaha Venture of course...;-) )
Fantastic installation guide. Thank you for the great video.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot from France. It will help me to do the same on my bike !
Holy shit bro! I was looking for a good location for that horn , you made my day !
I gotta copy you , sorry 🤷🏻♂️😂. and thanks .
Massive thankyou buddy from the UK...AWESOME. AS IM USELESS WITH WIRING ..

Amazing tips as well. You're right, thanks for pointing that out. A new horn has no affect on riding skill.
Thanks, at last a good video with the installation well explained and reviewed!
Thank you for watching!

You shouldn't have to get a battery. My 2015 uses the same battery as yours.
11:46 Hey nice P5 you got there! Super clean!

Dumb question but why do you have to have the relay? Is it the load it pulls?

Great video....good sound samples...thanks
No problem, best bike horn for the price in my opinion!
Great Video. What was the model number on the horn?

It's been a few years ago, but I bought the same horn on eBay. The price was very reasonable. The horn is Italian made. Good quality.

Good job, well done
Thanks!!
Perfect video for comparison..
Great video Thanks

what will happen if u dnt put the relay ?

any deep tone horn from any car sounds better
Don't like it that much .....think I'll go with trumpets. ....twins .or maybe Hi Low.
Nice.
🤙👍🏻
Excellent lol
P.joga
use good switch and you dont need this crappy relay. My relay just falls apart the first day.
that bike so subtle sexy.. think i need one now.. the wife thanks you ;-)
Close to engine heat no thanks .....
Why put this on a cycle,total waste,lol
You clearly do not ride
Great video, thank you!
