Thanks for watching this video - been working hard to crank out USEFUL content that inspires, but also teaches. Thanks for the kind words everyone! Let me know what kind of entrepreneur you are in the comment section below. Maybe you're a mix, or maybe you're unsure (i.e. #4, hehe). Love yall, and thanks for being here! Team Flynn for the win!
It's very important to know your strengths but more importantly to know your weaknesses. This will help you surround yourself and build a team that compliment your weakness. 👑
I sort of think I am a little bit of all 4 types. For a very long time, I was undecided, mostly because I had exactly what he spoke about, "analysis paralysis." Then, finally ....after what seemed like forever, I sort of started transitioning into an opportunity type entrepreneur, but after many unsatisfying attempts at building a successful business (they weren't highly successful anyway), I always ended up transferring them on to someone else.. who ended up having success from what I built and from following my plans, and finally I realized that I had a huge passion for helping people, but since the highly successful part never really benefitted me financially, It wasn't fulfilling my own needs or the needs of my family. To build successful businesses only to then pretty much give them to the people I was trying to help. So, I started brainstorming, and I realized that in order to be successful as a business owner & an entrepreneur, I would also need to be financially stable as a single mother, and in order to feel like I am serving a meaningful purpose in life as a human, that I would also need to follow my calling to help people. But, I had no idea for quite some time how to combine all of that successfully (and I still don't have a perfectly pin pointed plan), but since I have been doing a lot of research into wrongful conviction, and many different aspects of this countries need for reform, I realized that I now have a mission as an entrepreneur. And My mission combined with everything else I desire is the part the brings it all together for me. My mission is to get changes made within our justice system, to get the much needed reform our Justice System needs. The research I was doing started due to the fact that there is someone in particular, along with many other people, that I really need to and want to help, and I figured out that the only way to do so was through being an advocate for change. The only way to bring about changes is to convince lawmakers and upcoming politicians to be advocates for reform to our justice system in the most needed areas of public interest. Since it is such a time consuming process to do legal research, gather public interest data, and prepare evidence to help convince politicians that what I am advocating for is actually needed, and is what "we the people," actually want, or do not want any more, I realized I needed a career I could do from anywhere. Then since it had to be beneficial financially, I had to figure out how to make it all work successfully together. So I then made a list of skills I have & skills I need, and a list of the strengths I have & of what my weaknesses are, which also included how I could improve upon my weaknesses, to best benefit me all the way around. I came up with a conclusion that combines my knowledge about social media marketing, about wrongful conviction, about our legal system (both from a criminal stand point and from a legal stand point), and about how to bring about the big changes that our country and justice system desperately need. My conclusion is that a career in Marketing, on social media, will serve my passion of helping people, follow my mission for being an advocate for justice system reform, that solves the problem of how to fulfill my calling, it fulfills my passion to help people and leads me towards my missions goal to bring about changes, plus it has potential to more than provide for my needs financially. It also utilizes the strengths I have to best benefit both myself and my clients, and since the weaknesses I have are sort of cancelled out by the fact that I can do this away from the being in the immediate presence of the people I am helping it is a win win win situation. Phew ...that was a lot to say.. but ultimately it is a plan outline that came from a transitioning process, and left me with a fulfilling career, financially, emotionally, and passionately. A career that can benefit many people who may not be able to help themselves without my voice to do so. I have to seriously give credit to the "Change" book for helping me put all of that together too. Thank you Ryan, for writing that book. It was life changing before I could even start to realize that changes happening within me. I'm forever grateful.
Thanks Pat! I took your PUP and Amped up advanced podcasting courses (which were/are amazing). I love Ryan L. too and I'm definitely a mission-based entreprenuer....on a mission to Turn Autism Around for 2 million by the end of 2020. I've been producing video and audio for all of my solo and interview podcast episodes for a year now with great results. My team takes video footage splices from most podcasts and they make vlogs and microcontent.....so everything I do is planned and repurposed My downloads are approaching 150K in the first year and my RUclips subscribers have more than doubled to over 32,000. We don't use b-roll (yet) but we do use hooks and end cards with clear CTA for all podcasts and vlogs. Thank you for all of your teachings! Can't wait to see more video clips from your podcasts!
I love it. Great video. I have had my own business in the past, loved it. Life happened and I've worked for someone else now for about 10 years. I am SO ready to work for myself again and not have the restraints in lack of growth in every way possible ($, drive, motivation, growing etc). I'm entering a new chapter in my life and see things in a whole new way. It's going to be good. It's a VERY slow roll though while still working the 9-5. Dang slow. I started as a Undecided Entrepreneur when I tried to get away from the industry I'm currently in. I spent about a year figuring that out. Thank God I did because it really helped me to figure out and NOTICE and IMPLEMENT what the heck I'm good at and use it for my business. Also, learning what I truly did NOT want to do any more (30 yrs is enough). So, that being said I am now a Opportunity Entrepreneur because it took that time to figure things out and in that time I realized there's a business in what I was spending all my time doing. I'm building it now along side my content repurposing business. I'm so freaking excited about it. Running 88 mph...you'll see more soon. Thank you, Pat (and #teamflynn). You rock.
Thanks Pat. I'm definitely a passion-based entrepreneur, and thankfully I realized the dark side many years ago. At one time I wanted to open a scrapbooking store in my town. Thankfully, I knew the result would be hating my passion and luckily, one opened a few months later in my town. Now I run an online membership group for scrapbookers and I get to have all the fun and not get trapped by the dark side of the business! Awareness can help you set yourself up for success!
Hey Pat, thanks so much for this interview. As a therapist to entrepreneurs, I have found these archetypes as well, I just use a different labels for them. Which is why I love how Ryan describes his. I'll like to mention that all archetypes are not good, and not bad, and usually we all share an aspect of each archetype. So if anyone INDS themselves fitting into one of them, soon they may find a tilt away from that archetype. Thats fairly normal. I started out as an opportunity-based entrepreneur, later I became a mission-based, when I got to a point I had to ask myself if I wanted to be that person for the rest of my life. My answer helped redirect me.
I think the most important point of business is to see whether there is demand, and then go after it. Maybe with a practice business. Over time, everyone will probably fall into the mission/passion/opportunity base.
Passion and Undecided. Tried my passion several years ago and now am undecided as to which path to take. Analysis Paralysis is dead on. Must decide on one, focus, learn from mistakes and keep moving forward.
I heard Ryan many years ago on your podcast Pat. You and he literally saved my company from going down the drain. The interview (and later Ryan's book) gave me the tools to learn about my clients real need and build a successful coaching business. Today I do 6 figures. So: Thank you Pat Flynn and Ryan Levesque! :) (PS: Feel free to use this is a wholehearted recommendation and testimony. :) )
I'm an undecided entrepreneur and I just started doing the suggestion in the video. That suggestion was to start a "practice business" and center in on it to learn the skills that go into making a forever business to be successful. I love being my own boss and I love this solution. Funny that I came to this conclusion back in December 2019. LOL! I've taken a step past analysis, paralysis to doing what I want to do. BIG THANKS for this video!
I’m a mission based entrepreneur but also passion based as well. I struggle with setting prices because I wish everyone had the information I’m giving. I really just push self-awareness and accountability and to balance it I give free information out on RUclips and Instagram. I think that gives me more comfort when I change for 1:1 sessions
I'm a Blues Brothers based entrepreneur and definitely prioritise being of service over the money, and am currently working on improving/negating that :)
I'm generally halfway through reading these books at the moment. Great book. And at first I thought I was a passionate kind of entrepreneur. But after this video, I realized that I am an undecided kind of entrepreneur. I like your idea about videos and podcasts. I've been thinking about this for 4 months now, and haven't even started yet. That is why I realized that I am undecided entrepreneur!
I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I'm a mix of several types. I'm for sure undecided a lot, having to force myself to "pick something and move on!" I also can see myself in the other three types to a point, but I'm primarily a passion based entrepreneur. It helps me get through the tedium that is work to have it be something I'm passionate about. I try to keep myself passionate about it by having parts of that category (crafting for me, specifically crochet) be just for fun.
Great Video, Pat! I’ve been a few of these types of entrepreneurs, at different stages in my life. So, it’s definitely possible to evolve, and change from one to the other. Another thing is, I’ve been a multi-personality entrepreneur, also, in that I’ve been multiple of these things, at the same time. Right now, I’m actually taking a short break from all entrepreneurial things, and focusing only on my job. I’m hoping this break will give me some clarity, and allow me to think clearly about everything I’ve been doing, because my problem isn’t coming up with business ideas, it’s quite the opposite. I suffer from taking on too much. I also have the entrepreneurial asset, that I never give up on anything. I literally NEVER quit. And so, I get overwhelmed trying to do too much. I’ve owned and operated successful businesses before, and I have the bug, but find myself overwhelmed, and undecided about which one needs to be the only one I focus on. So, I’m hoping to avoid analysis paralysis. Hoping to avoid overwhelm. Hoping to find the ONE THING that I’ll kill it at. So, for right now, it’s my sales job. I’ll make a few bucks and eventually know what I need to do. That’s it. Thanks, Pat.
Passion-based Enterprenuer who after watching this video would be an undecided one, I sure git a lot to learn. But the most important part of the video made me understand, I have to be opportunistic and not just wait on my passion to explore earning and growing a business. Excellent outro music Pat LIKE Team Flynn for the win! Thanks!
A bit of a blend of mostly passion and opportunity with a sprinkle of undecided while telling myself it is about the mission, whether it truly is or isn't
This was super valuable! I'm a passion based and I just realized it. My biggest fear in building a business has always been falling out of love with my passion (photography). After I started on youtube, I realized photography wasn't the passion as much as some form of visual creation (cinematography and photography). For any entrepreneurs reading this, if you really want to make an impact, then educate yourself on financial literacy and building a business and then... "Feed the business, so the artist doesn't starve." - Jashim
Loved the video, Pat! I'm passion-based but within a mission to serve sport coaches to help them create outstanding, positive experiences for kids. So it's my mission, but coaching has been one of my great passions for 30+ years. The combination of the two is where I'm at.
Man, you are attacking RUclips. Love it! I definitely aligned opportunity-based entrepreneur with a bit of part passion-based as well. Great concept to brining in the “dark side” since it’s not really talked about out. Definitely had me hooked till the end. :)
Love your work.. Hope to see more videos.. I currently running a food business and also I've been in the dark side of the opportunity based entrep.. This video rings a bell for me... Now that i see it, i am a passion based entrepreneur that loves finance & investing.. Putting money here & there and see it grow.. But I've been tangled with managing the food business, which as you mention, when it expand i find it hard to like what i do anymore.. Now that really make sense..
There is risk, because what happens when you begin to hire people to expand the business and then you're the CEO of a company attending 100 meetings and no longer doing your craft? I'm not saying that's what would happen to you, but that's how a passion based entrepreneur could track. I've seen it happen - business owners, who hate what they do, even though they loved it before. Programmers who start agencies is one specific examples.
I liked the way you did this. Does seam not like a beginner podcast to video repurposed way to go unless you have a lot editing experience and time or money to give it to someone else to do. I’m definitely a passion based entrepreneur who plans to make better money but haven’t ‘arrived’ yet! Lol I took you pup course and I plan to do some with a video. And I’m just learning now how to make those video interviews stand out to get longer watch times. Visuals and content framework matters. Can’t wait to get it going and have you critique it for me!
My first thought was I don't know and then realized I must be an undecided. I have something huge I want to share and I don't know if it's ready or which industry to tackle with it. I don't know.
I started out as the undecided...kind of floundered around for a while. Now I want people who are trying to get out of their 9 to 5. Scared of retiring with no money and living pay check to paycheck
I see myself as the passion based entrepreneur as I want to turn people on to the positives but I have known for a while that my weakness is that I put money as a secondary. I don't if there is a podcast discussing this dilemma because if there was I would replay thousands of times until it into my subconscious.
Wow that was humbling. #4 Uncertain 💯. Important to know especially now Pat as for truly the first time in my career, I got let go this past week. There’s no time for practice in my situation. This will help me finally overcome the drifts and analysis paralysis. Great share. Look forward to that podcast episode. Be blessed Pat! 🕊
#4 I have so many skill sets and systems and processes that I bring together for people. Others call on me to hear their plans and ask for advice on a path or next steps.
Pat, I wish to meet you one day! Good job brother your videos have greatly helped me on my podcast development and also made me a full believer that others are out there who were born to give of themselves and time to others. Thank you
Enjoy each and every video of yours. So thankful to known about and and finally listening to your podcast. Work has already started, hoping after few years I will earn something.
@@patflynn Well work has already started. Its part time what I am doing and I have full time job. Trying to manage time as my newborn son needs my time too. So hoping end of this 2020 I will be able to earn something..🙏
I'm definitely a number 4 type of entrepreneur although I see traits of 1 inside of me which would explain my past inability to charge people for my services.
Love this video! I think I'm a hybrid of two entrepreneurs: passion and undecided. The "undecided" portion was definitely more dominant, but I started forcing myself to make decisions and live with whatever the outcome was. I haven't been sorry yet. :-)
I'm passion based and I've hit the now what phase but moving forward anyway. I love what I do. I love what it has allowed me to do. I'm truly blessed. :) Time to grow :)
A well put video in terms of types of entrepreneur. Although I suppose the mission-driven people often don't start it as a business, it just might come out that way if some opportunity arises. Passion-driven people also have a risk of investing a ton of energy, time and even money and becoming as stated burnt out - I belong to that type and the border between the passion and business from a passion should be quite clear. Perhaps some mentorship can be helpful. Or planning on paper more like people do paper trading. *** Anyways, look forward to more videos on this topic like dos & donts :)
Definitely mission based, and I’ve learned those important lessons about making money, which is now why I coach mission-based entrepreneurs, mostly women. They need to learn this too. :)
so what Kind of entrepreneur is Richard Branson? Cause that's pretty much what I want to be; focused on the vision, has a great team that he delegates execution to and having fun while going at it.
I'd say I'm mission-based. We want to make multisensory math the standard for teaching ALL grade levels of math. It's not just for little kids. It's for all kids. It will heal a TON of broken hearts because all brains are made for math.
I fall into the Passion-based entrprenuer category. I've always inspired to write and always found myself wanting to inspire and direct this energy to self-help, but recently I did have those thoughts. What if this drains all my passion for the art? So I've considered building something as simple as resume writing because this is something I've done all through out my life. It's something so simple, yet, so necessary that I figure why don't I do something I do already ?
Hi Pat, I am an undecided entrepreneur. I love your latest videos, which have a motivational-inspirational style. I have one question. I thought you built a new office to shoot videos, but lately, you shoot videos from your home (office or garage). Why is that?
I brought my equipment home because the family had the flu for 2 weeks, so I had time to film at the house. There may be a few more from home before I’m back at the video studio. 😁
Great information! I am DEFINITELY a "Mission Based" entrepreneur, and have struggled with charging for my services. I am actively working to overcome this challenge, and this video will definitely help me with being more aware of that "dark side" and get it together! #mentalhealthissexy 💜 #newyoutuber.
So going by the shadow side, I'm an opportunity based entrepreneur. Just sold my first business for that very reason 😉 But I did think briefly that undecided sounded like me too once upon a time.
Pat Flynn I’m a solid 2.5 right between passion and opertunity, #teamFlynn
Absolutely the undecided with a dash of passion. What were you when you first started after the recession hit?
It's very important to know your strengths but more importantly to know your weaknesses. This will help you surround yourself and build a team that compliment your weakness. 👑
You should have done the intro of the video for me. :)
Pat Flynn 😇 I'm available anytime you need me 👑
I am a hybrid. Layering with Simon Sineks Start with Why:
The mission is my why
The passion is my what
The opportunity is my how
I sort of think I am a little bit of all 4 types. For a very long time, I was undecided, mostly because I had exactly what he spoke about, "analysis paralysis."

So opportunity based. These were great, thanks for publishing!
Pat, I'm friends with Kevin Fremon, love this video! I think I'm number 4 and still figuring it all out! Thanks for all the value you are sharing.
Awesome! Kevin is the best :) Keep practicing!
Ok sooooooo where did you get that mandelorian shirt?
Etsy 😃
Thanks for the video, Pat! I'm definitely mission based most, then opportunity based next. Neat framework! Excited to hear the podcast.
Man, you are attacking RUclips. Love it! I definitely aligned opportunity-based entrepreneur with a bit of part passion-based as well. Great concept to brining in the “dark side” since it’s not really talked about out. Definitely had me hooked till the end. :)
Attacking is the right word. Let’s go Kevin! On the offense!
I’m a passion-driven entrepreneur, and there isn’t any risk of me getting bored with it, because I don’t consider what I do is a J O B 👍
@@patflynn Ah ok, I hadn't thought about it that deeply. I hear you and understand Thank you Pat.
@@patflynn Nice point of view..
Pat you are on a creative roll this year - very useful for goal setting! Keep it up! I am 65% Mission and 35% Passion.
Undecided - amassing knowledge, but not putting it into practice. How does one find a "practice business"?
Being a coach, speaker, trainer, author, mentor, sometimes can be seen as a practice business. In actual sense the practice is the business.
@@DayoSamuelMastery Thanks!
I’m undecided entrepreneur- I am currently working on my online business but I’m a mix of opportunity entrepreneur
I liked the way you did this. Does seam not like a beginner podcast to video repurposed way to go unless you have a lot editing experience and time or money to give it to someone else to do. I’m definitely a passion based entrepreneur who plans to make better money but haven’t ‘arrived’ yet! Lol
I took you pup course and I plan to do some with a video. And I’m just learning now how to make those video interviews stand out to get longer watch times. Visuals and content framework matters.
Can’t wait to get it going and have you critique it for me!
Right now I am just doing what I am good at. I am not passionate about it and the hardest part for me is asking for money.
Loved this one! I’m a mission based entrepreneur on a mission to help people have positive birth experiences.
where is the full episode of the podcast? I've searched and can't find it anywhere
Pat, could you explain a bit about how you get the video clips and what the legal requirements are that people should be aware of?
My first thought was I don't know and then realized I must be an undecided. I have something huge I want to share and I don't know if it's ready or which industry to tackle with it. I don't know.
Wow! Thanks for this video cause I honestly know that I’m a Type 4 Entrepreneur.
I’m the Opportunity Entrepreneur I’ve got a lot ideas that know change society on how it does things
I started out as the undecided...kind of floundered around for a while. Now I want people who are trying to get out of their 9 to 5. Scared of retiring with no money and living pay check to paycheck
I needed this here! Great POV
You got this Tim!
Wait, was this a clip of eddie van der meer playing guitar?
#4 I have so many skill sets and systems and processes that I bring together for people. Others call on me to hear their plans and ask for advice on a path or next steps.
Thanks Pat! I’m a passion based entrepreneur mostly ☺️
So music is mainly passion but I could see also being a mission entrepreneur as well
Pat, I wish to meet you one day!
Why not sooner? You got this! Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
@@patflynn Well work has already started. Its part time what I am doing and I have full time job. Trying to manage time as my newborn son needs my time too. So hoping end of this 2020 I will be able to earn something..🙏
Hello Pat. Just creator question. When you use small clips from famous movies, do you incurred on trademark infringement? Can you explain?
I'm #4 Undecided - the dark side of analysis paralysis is definitely a struggle for me.
Passion based my Dear...Thanks for the heads up awareness! :-)
Really useful way to segment the types. I think we can transition from one to the other as wekl
Great video! I put myself as an undecided entrepreneur, I'm struggling to get ideas though but improving my knowledge.
What a great video! I totally feel this!! Id say I'm a passion-based mixed with opportunity.
I think I'm passion with a twist of undecided. This is a great video and a great evolution in helpful content.
So Pat?
Now that you just described me in four different ways:
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS!?
No wonder I'm such a mess at times: 😂🤣😂
Lol, it'll be alright
@@revellaleif1212 😎👍
I'm definitely a number 4 type of entrepreneur although I see traits of 1 inside of me which would explain my past inability to charge people for my services.
I am a mission based entrepreneur. An Ryan nailed it! How to make money is my challenge.😣
Blend of passion and undecided who has opportunistic tendencies.
All 4
A well put video in terms of types of entrepreneur.
I have a project based business now, but I'm pretty sure my hubby and I are in the undecided category.
This video is great. Im in the 4th category. Undecided! Analysis paralysis is Real!!! Lol
Undecided type and yes I struggle a lot. In fact, I have wasted a whole year at this point and time today.
So I guess the resume building would be my practice builder?
Mission-based. Definitely.
1, 2, and 3: They're inseparable for me.
I am a mission based entrepreneur
2 and 4 resonates with me but 4 is more likely.
Passion based for sure.
#mentalhealthissexy 💜
#newyoutuber.
Definitely passion based
So going by the shadow side, I'm an opportunity based entrepreneur. Just sold my first business for that very reason 😉
But I did think briefly that undecided sounded like me too once upon a time.
I felt inclined towards all of them, but I feel that I an undecided
I hate cookie cutters or boxes. Spectrums are rarely used
I feel like after I read his book ill be left with more questions. Ill update this comment when I read it.
Most definitely undecided. 😊
brilliant! _Mission Based
whos here for school?
me!!!! :)
Hi Pat I think I’m a Mission based entrepreneur
The answer to all of these problems of each types is the way of karma. Follow your work and in time you learn and know.
One and two and at times a bit of 3.
I believe I’m a passion entrepreneur
I am an Opportunity Based Entrepreneur. That's why I feel so hollow.
Passion based over here and i can see the dark side at times
Hmmm...I'm undecided about which one I am...maybe the undecided one but I'm not sure. :p
Oops, I am all 4. How did that happen?
I feel like all 4 types
Undecided 🤷🏽♀️
