    When I had the farm my brother remarked that "Every farm has at least one door propped shut with a stick and as a farmer you do a lot of work that you never actually get paid for." True enough.

    HI JIM & BRENDA. - HORSES ALWAYS KNOW WHEN THEY ARE HEADING "HOME"! I had to chuckle after your delivery to Abby's house & got back on the road, Earl & Baron's gait picked up CONSIDERABLY & they even cantered/loped for a bit. When you've been around horses for awhile, you can really HEAR their cadence without even having to see them moving, literally! The Suffolks' are really making a nice team, no matter who is in the traces!! I really enjoy watching all your horses at work. Thank you for sharing & God bless..❤😊❤😊

    Did you see the smile Jim has when Brenda said what a wonderful team these boys are to drive? Pure pride for Jim and very well deserved Jim. I love you guys. You work so well together. My hubby and I were the same when we were younger. We plowed commercial businesses and schools for many years, Laid sod together, and hauled ties together. It's so nice to see this. We are in our 80's now ad long since retired. God bless both of you and your family. Brenda? how's your knee doing?

    Jim, I just love watching you work with your horses. it really is like poetry in motion. You have such a great relationship with the horses and they become so well trained, even Earl, who is still in horse childhood. There’s not a lot of drama, you are so quiet with them, they look so comfortable and relaxed. It’s really pretty amazing. I’ve been working with horses for over 50 years, and I would put you up against any trainer anywhere. You get results, AND your horses are happy while they learn. It doesn’t get better than that.

      @ponygirl5716- Hello from our farm in Central ⛵ Lakes Region New Hampshire.
      I agree, Jim has been a wonderful person to show the lost art of farming with horses. Our farm is too hilly to safely log with horses, so we use tractors. It is a joy to watch their Christmas ❄❄ sleigh rides! I was thinking, as I watched this video, how fortunate his horses are to be living out their lives under Jim and Brenda's care. As horse women, you and I know that a horse is as smart as a 3 yr old human and they have feelings and memories. I have always found them to have so much heart. ~ Diane

    Happy Thanksgiving from our New Hampshire farm and Happy Birthday Jim! So much to be grateful for with the weather we had this year. Just when I thought we were on the home stretch, along came 🔥🔥 forest fires! Our main farm is like yours, except it sits on top of a ridge, surrounded by open hay fields. However we built in the woods at the base of the farm in deep woods. My beloved hemlocks and oaks are 20' from two sides of our house. So I was one to welcome this rain. Brenda, you are an amazing farm wife! I am older and wish I could pitch in to help the way you do. Both you and Jim work hard and have raised wonderful children. I'm glad to see that Abby's house is just down the road. I hope she can move in for Christmas. My Jim and I hope to find a time when we can visit with you both in 2025. Our farm raises polled Hereford for breeding stock, but I have always been a horse person and admire the art of farming with horses. My 1/2 Percheron , Razzi, was my best buddy and riding partner. All the best ~ Diane

    • @neoncatfish4038
      @neoncatfish4038 3 дня назад

      I'm not Jim! But I can tell you they're both two different ways! The bales that are wrapped in plastic, are bailed when the matter that is used is green! The other bales are completely dried before they're bailed! The dried bales I have seen them last 2 years! And the middle is still be perfectly good! But I think it's according in what type of bales they are! They shed water really well! He had hay grazer and peanut bales! One year we bale 500 hay grazer bales. Rip Bro. Hope this helps you!

      Round bales. You can also make small (horse) bales, and huge square bales. The small bales are often called "horse bales", because hay can be measured out in "flakes", which some people feed in nets.

    • @stuglenn1112
      @stuglenn1112 3 дня назад +2

      I have never called or heard them called anything but round bales. If they're square we call them square bales and usually further distinguish them as two or three string square bales. I know that in some parts of the country they make huge square bales but I've never seen them around my part of Florida or when I was in Texas. We further distinguish hay as horse hay or cow hay. Remember a lot of the terms used in this stuff is very local and not universal across the whole country. In some parts of the country if you call a Horse a Horse it means to the local it's a gelded male.
