I hope I’m just like you when I grow older. Your wife is a lucky lady

I have a refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad t470. It came with Windows 10 Pro with 16 gigs of ram and a 256 gig ssd. I installed Linux Mint Cinnamon 21.2 then upgraded later to 21.3. I love it and it was a super easy transition.
Just an FYI, the Cinnamon desktop is made by the same devs as Linux Mint, and is probably a bit more user friendly than XFCE in my opinion. Cinnamon has simple GUIs for basically anything an average user would want, and I don't quite think you could say the same for XFCE even though it is still a good choice for this use case.
As a 53 year old who started on Windows 3.11 as far as GUI OS, Xfce is as user friendly as it gets from my point of view. I dont disagree with you just offering a different perpesctive
You didn't lie about the other screws, they were just hiding, like they tend to do with laptops. Keep discovering new experiences during your adventures!
Debian was named after Debbie and Ian. They were a couple when Ian named the distro after her and after their relationship. You can say it any way you like, but it originally does have an Ian in it.

Cinnamon is a good choice at this point, between rpm and flatpak there are 100s of programs at your feet.

I love this dude.
Also Debian is named after the guy who created it, Ian Murdock, and his at the time girlfriend, Debra, so it is pronounced like those names.
If it's fun for you, don't stop doing it 💪

I repaired and converted my wife's HP to linux over a year ago, and she's been happy for the most part.
We are all rooting for you. Does the laptop perform reasonably editing video?
Hey old Adam Savage - great video!!! Thumbs up!
Surprised the mboard could handle 32GB RAM, really. You did well. Nice job. Mint is a lovely distro to install.
great to see, good job
I LIKE YOUR VIDEO 😊
More modern laptops are a pain to work on. They were made to non-user serviceable to make people buy a new one. Good job JH.
Cinnamon is a good desktop and so is Mate.
Awesome video and I pronounce it Debbie-N

And Ubuntu Budgie is very Mac like.
Can't hear you,
