I did some flocking last night and I have a slightly different "recipe" (I didnt really measure anything, I did it by eye) I used mod podge, white paint (the small little acrylic paint bottles at michaels that cost less than $1) and the same bag of fake snow that you used I mixed all 3 together and applied..it dried hard because of the mod podge with minimal fall out 😊🎄
Oh nice, the shaving cream may be the reason it's flaking not sure but I like the volume it adds. Great idea and thank you for sharing, it's helpful to know the recipes and try it out!!
I LOVE THIS!!!! Great idea. I have a parrot and I was always afraid to buy anything flocked bc of the chemicals or chemical smell. This is harmles and gives the same look. Yeah! I thought I'd never be able to own anything flocked and I love the look. Can't wait to do it!!
This is such a good recipe! I flocked a wall tree decoration that was given to me as it was in SAD shape, I took the decoration apart and redid it. I flocked it, redid the ornaments and added lights and it looks BRAND NEW! The flocking isn't yellowing as to date (almost March) and I LOVE IT! And it smells UH-MAZING!!
Looks great! Christmas 2016, I spray painted all my greenery and 1 Christmas tree. I left our original 20 year old tree green because 1 of my sons wanted it that way. This year the hubby and I hit the after Christmas sales and bought about 100 cans of snow, another hundred or so strands of Christmas lights (all for .24 cents each) endless amounts of the most beautiful color coordinated decorations and I scored my dream Tree for a measly $89/regularly $179 and it is already flocked with the pine cones and red berries. Even though it was after Christmas, I still put it together and it is beyond amazing! Also, I had originally wanted a white tree but my mommy-in-law gave me her white tree that she never even used! It's a really nice one too! So, now we got all these tree's and ornaments and lights and snoooow! lol It's like we hit the Christmas Lotto! I'm so excited I want to start decorating for next year!!! lol but I have settled for cleaning, painting and flocking everything. lol
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Because I rather spend my $20-30 on gifts for my kiddo, than on a bunch in artificial snow! And I have all the ingredients at home right now, YAY!. If I did order, it wasn’t even gonna come on time on Amazon so again, THANKS!
Oh Emily....this is BRILLIANT!! I said it before...and i will say it again....you are the QUEEN OF DIYS 💕💕💕. I love that you make things so affordable!!
Yay! Thank u so much! I love this. A great recipe is What i used for Macy’s holiday display windows. I used light spritz all over tree of white spray paint, spray wall texture (at Lowes)and Amazon’s flock snow ❄️ it has little to no flaking and won’t start to “yellow” Be sure to store your flocked pieces in a cool dry place! Happy Holidays everyone ☮️🎄🎅🏻❄️🕊
This is awesome! I will definitely be trying this.. maybe using some epsom salt and chunky glitter would give more of that iced look that you wanted. That’s what I use when I’m going for that look. Thanks for video! Im excited to try this!
I redid my lantern like yours today my more Sturdier I also tried to make it top like yours I gived only made it quarters so I got my husband to help me hes better at math than I am who is ranking his raking his head I hate math lol now I have to pair it and dress it up. . I'll try to tag you on intagram.
So pretty! I did pick up the flocking powder from amazon but I haven't been able to use it because it's been too cold outside 😩 I should have done this... it seems way less messy! Thanks for the awesome diy
I think this is harder I seen one woman spray her tree with spray snow yiu get from Walmart let it set for 24 hours come back the next day spray your tree with warm water and sift snow all over your tree. Both ways are so beautiful
I wonder if you washed the garland afterwards would it wash out so if I decided not to have flocking the year after it'd be ok ? Great ideas. I actually bought the flocking for $25 on Amazon lol. Oh well. Lesson learned.
Good morning Emily.🌞☕️ Oh what little cuties.🎅🏼 I love this idea. I actually bought a small tree at Dollar Tree that is green. I prefer the white ones but there weren't any left so this will work for me. Tfs sweetie. Hugs-Kristina 🤗
I didn't even know what the term flocking meant before this video 😂 Commenting with a random genuine compliment because truly your hair and makeup is spot on in this video! Flawless and shows off your natural beauty! You're gorgeous! Have a great day!!

Thank you for your prompt reply. It just looked like a lot of snow and wondered in cause you needed a couple of days to work with it.I will try and let you know. By the way I love all your videos and I get so many ideas from you! Keep it up!
Omg it’s amazing!! I’m doing this! Can’t wait to decorate!!! Would it be bad if i had a regular tree and then flocked pieces of decor around the house?
I'm curious as to how this would hold up when stored away for the next year.Would it create mold?? I have a new tree I'd love to flock but am scared of what might happen down the road.
I just did this and it came out great! Until my husband reminded me that shaving cream is flammable!!!! Please tell me that no one has had any fires because of this
Shaving cream itself isn’t flammable. The can it comes in because it’s compressed is. Shaving cream itself is not a flammable product. You literally shave with it.
Good morning I know your busy 1 more question ,can I use like flour or any substitute you can think of I read elemers glue shouldn't her but I looked at some shaving creams and nothing?
I'm curious how well it held up..I bought some flocking powder from amazon but on 2 pounds thats the only one I could find in stock that will ship to canada,,If I fun out I may try this..I just have a small tree
How much shedding I want to do my “ old faithful” Christmas tree? ( I soo like the flocking but unsure if financially I want commit to new flocked tree esp when I can dyi “old faithful”)
I'm trying this awesome idea this year!! But I have a question:. Can I wash it out? I would like to keep my tree green. Would like to try this just for one year
Hi Emily, Love your videos! (Weird to see your old house 😔..) Question: now that you’ve packed and unpacked them a few times, how did they hold up? Did a lot of it come off? Would you still use this technique? Please share your thoughts. I’m wanting to flock a 7 foot tree but it seems intimidating and i fear the mess after Christmas.
How long did this take you to do? I want to flock my tree and my garland (about 60 ft in total) and was wondering how much time to set aside? Thanks! 😊
I accidentally used two shaving cream cans cause I didn't come back to make sure and now my garage smells like shaving cream 😂 I just got done but does anyone know if by the time it dries, the smell will leave the tree? Ty
Very pretty! Do you know if this will store well? Just curious before I try it. We always flocked our real trees years ago. Miss that, can't do real ones anymore, allergies. Love your channel Emily! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! 😀❤
This wasn’t a great idea it came out pretty but I just threw out my wreath and all my garland because the shaving cream smell gave me such a bad headache it’s been 2 days and the smell is still all through the house yuck !

It looks great
Great idea. Would love to know your ratio of Mod podge/paint?
Maria Campos Thanks for sharing !! Gonna try your ingredients instead !!
*Love this!!! I have done DIY flocking with my DIY elmer's Modge podge recipe, white paint and the fake snow but I love the corn starch idea!!!!* ❤️

This is awesome! I will definitely be trying this.. maybe using some epsom salt and chunky glitter would give more of that iced look that you wanted. That’s what I use when I’m going for that look. Thanks for video! Im excited to try this!
Did you end up trying the epsom salts?
I tried this DIY and it was a major success !!!
woohooo! Thats great to hear!
It's funny I never like flocking growing up but now I like little you had thou2 out the home and I may just do it how you did. Thank you.
I redid my lantern like yours today my more Sturdier I also tried to make it top like yours I gived only made it quarters so I got my husband to help me hes better at math than I am who is ranking his raking his head I hate math lol now I have to pair it and dress it up. . I’m going to work on Christmas.
Wooooo
Very pretty and clever! Thanks for sharing!!
I think this is harder I seen one woman spray her tree with spray snow yiu get from Walmart let it set for 24 hours come back the next day spray your tree with warm water and sift snow all over your tree. Both ways are so beautiful
Wow that looks incredible! I can't wait to try!
It looks great I wonder if you spray it with hairspray if it will help it from falling off
it may help! The tree doesnt shed the garland does since i put the snow flakes on it.
Ima do this... Thank you for the AwEsOmE idea, I was just going to use the snow can but this seems to look better
It looks much better than the can, I tried that stuff last year. Have fun!
This is such an amazing idea it just makes it so much better love it❣️
Awesomely Pretty Emily, I'm going to try this on my DT tree🎄 Thank you for sharing 😄
I wonder if you washed the garland afterwards would it wash out so if I decided not to have flocking the year after it'd be ok ?
Great ideas. I actually bought the flocking for $25 on Amazon lol. Oh well. Lesson learned.
Ouch! You could have just done the ole diaper trick.

Oh your not the only one it seems, Thank you so much, same to you!
So pretty! I hope I can try it out this year! 🎄
Just curious how well did your flocking hold up with storage over the years
She said it shed and flaked off, and you will have to keep vaccuuming in comment further down. I would try Maria Soledad's method instead.

Is there an easier way to flock a 6 ft tree?
You are super talented, love it
Cheaper to just buy a can of sno blower, but yours looks very pretty!
Thank you for your prompt reply. It just looked like a lot of snow and wondered in cause you needed a couple of days to work with it.I will try and let you know. By the way I love all your videos and I get so many ideas from you! Keep it up!
Happy to help and yes please do let me know. I’m glad your enjoying everything

Thank you! Gorgeous!👏🏼💕🌹
Omg it’s amazing!! I’m doing this! Can’t wait to decorate!!! Would it be bad if i had a regular tree and then flocked pieces of decor around the house?
You should. No not at all, mixing is always good!
So cool, pretty and easy to do. Tfs👍🏻😉

Thank you Emily, awesome
Pretty interesting concept. I love it. AND...I just enjoy your channel. thanks for sharing.

I love the flocked look. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Great Diy's love it 🤗👍
Lovely Idea!
Great DIY!! TFS!
Thanks , hope you try it out!
I love it!
Love it
I'm curious as to how this would hold up when stored away for the next year.Would it create mold?? I have a new tree I'd love to flock but am scared of what might happen down the road.
Mine didn’t mold. It still has a bit of a shave cream smell.
Does the cornstarch on the tree get yellowish/brownish when you keep in a storage for a year?
No but it’s messy
Wow, how cool is this 🤗❤️
Great idea!
Hi! I did this on my dollar tree and it looks great. Do you know what the cornstarch does? I saw another recipe without it but i did use some
I just did this and it came out great! Until my husband reminded me that shaving cream is flammable!!!! Please tell me that no one has had any fires because of this
I haven’t , I’m glad you like it
Shaving cream itself isn’t flammable. The can it comes in because it’s compressed is. Shaving cream itself is not a flammable product. You literally shave with it.
Very cool!! TFS!
Do you think this looks as good as the flocking on your tree and can you add the snow flakes into you diy? Maybe put more glue?
It's similar but to get the look of the tree I'd need the real snow stuff and it's sold out every where so it's a great sub
TFS. 😊
Wow amazing job! 💖
Yo vivo en México Me podrías decir el material
Looks great
That is amazing. Thank you for sharing this awesome tip. :)
Your welcome!
I made mine with less shaving cream so it would be much thicker and I loved the results! Thanks 😁
so glad you liked it and it worked for you!
How are you going to store these flocked with home ingredients?
Cute TFS🎅🎄⛄❄
Good morning I know your busy 1 more question ,can I use like flour or any substitute you can think of I read elemers glue shouldn't her but I looked at some shaving creams and nothing?

How much shedding I want to do my “ old faithful” Christmas tree? ( I soo like the flocking but unsure if financially I want commit to new flocked tree esp when I can dyi “old faithful”)
It only comes of if I wrangle with it. So no more than the stuff from the store.
Now when you add lights did it get hot? I am scared of it catching fire.
No the lot tree has done fine.
Ok thank you so much. I have been wanting to do this to tree for a long time so now i can do it cheaper.
Nice
If I do this on a wreath and hang it on the front door, will the rain wash it out?
I am curious of this question as well...
Does it have to be corn starch? Asking because I have several very large bags of flour. Wondering if that would work?
I don’t know I’ve never tried flour.
I'm trying this awesome idea this year!! But I have a question:. Can I wash it out? I would like to keep my tree green. Would like to try this just for one year
I think it would wash out, may take some rubbing but should
I have a question. Will this last a couple of days in case you can't get to ALL the flocking you want to do?
I don’t know if the mix will perhaps of yoi cover it. I used mine flocked garland 3 years now and still have my small tree
How did this hold up years later?
Hi Emily,
Love your videos! (Weird to see your old house 😔..)

maybe 15 mintutes with the kids. not long
Hi. Can you spray the garland or piece with hair spray after it’s dry & you shake off excess??
Great View video!!! Nicolette
yeah that could probably work. it does flake to much if you dont ass that flacky snow.
Momma From Scratch kou
I accidentally used two shaving cream cans cause I didn't come back to make sure and now my garage smells like shaving cream 😂 I just got done but does anyone know if by the time it dries, the smell will leave the tree? Ty
If you want to know how to do it yourself, just look for Stodoys.
very good
thanks!
Can I use this and flock a real tree? Or is it to be used without lights? I'm scared of it being flammable. (LED shouldn't get hot)
I think youd be just fine!
Did you try this on a real tree with lights?
Looks very good! Tfs!
When you go to store this stuff. , you will be offering a silverfish buffet. But t was beautiful
Thank you so much for this comment.
Beautiful what were you gonna get on amazon to make it a little icy looking? Thanks for sharing
Thanks, I don't remember the name but it's a fake snow on there
Hi,
Can you use this on the real Xmas tree? And does it smell like shave cream?
I don’t see why not. It’s has a slight smell but fades over days
Please do a diy in the shelve behold you in your introduction
Oh thanks, I share a lot of interior shots on my Instagram.
Very pretty! Do you know if this will store well? Just curious before I try it. We always flocked our real trees years ago. Miss that, can't do real ones anymore, allergies. Love your channel Emily! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! 😀❤
What ever happened to spray snow?
hi from another Emily, lol i love your channel
hey!, thank you
This wasn’t a great idea it came out pretty but I just threw out my wreath and all my garland because the shaving cream smell gave me such a bad headache it’s been 2 days and the smell is still all through the house yuck !
Why do this when you can buy flocking spray from Walmart for 1.97. But I see it can be something fun with the kids... great ideal
I dont like the way that stuff looks.
