    HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE JACARE? I was certain he would be #1!
    His BJJ accomplishments alone are ridiculous and he basically won everything one can win in submission grappling. Most notably, he is BOTH an ADCC champ & ADCC Absolute Runner-Up and 2x IBJJF Gi Absolute World Champ (with 2 EPIC victories over Roger Gracie, the consensus BJJ GOAT). He also won or medaled in a bunch of other prestigious tournaments. What is even crazier is he did all of this in TWO YEARS, before quitting and moving to MMA because there was no money (at the time) in grappling. In that span, he went 47-6, going 2-2 against the aforementioned Roger and all his other losses were extremely close matches decided on points (all against other BJJ legends). He had a legit chance of becoming one of the GOATs if he stayed in the sport.
    Then in MMA, he almost won the DREAM Grand Prix in his early MMA carrier, then became the Strikeforce champion and defended his belt. When he arrived in the UFC he went on a 5-fight winning streak (with 4 finishes), avenged his loss to Mousasi and then lost a super close SD to Romero (in which majority of the MMA media at the time scored it 29-28 Jacare btw). After that he put a 4-2 run where he finished all his victories (that includes 2 former UFC Champs and Brunson, who somehow made this list over Jacare despite being finished by him TWICE). The losses were: another super close SD to a prime Gastelum (coming off a KO win over a fresh former champ Bisping) and a prime Robert Whittaker (no shame there). He had 2 great shots at the title (and becoming champion too), the first being after the Romero fight if the judges had it right and the other immediately after, where he put 2 performance of the night finishes over Belfort and Boescht. Both would've been against Bisping, which is a good match up and very winnable fight for Souza. Bisping had the unnecessary Dan Hendo rematch and GSP tie-up that also contributed to Jacare never getting a shot.
    HOW IS HE NOT #1? I love the page, but you gotta start respecting Mr. Ronaldo Jacare more. Insanely underrated and an absolute killer!

    • @manporo5865
      @manporo5865 Год назад

      Jacare would never have fought Bisping in either situation you put for a title. The split Bisping won the title 6 months after the split decision loss and Jacare fought Vitor in 195 and Bisping only won the title the next month at Ufc 196. And the second time makes a lot less sense after his TKO loss against Whittaker. Jacare just had a shit schedule for fights and just constantly lost too many decisions towards the later part of his career.

    There’s actually a few guys at 185lbs at the same time as Brunson that it’s kind of wild never got a shot. Jacare and Gegard come to mind. Had they been there during the more stable and dominant runs of Silva or Adesanya they almost certainly would’ve, or at least 1 or 2 of the 3 would’ve, but MW was a bit of a wild card for a few years there with the Rockhold-Bisping-GSP-Whittaker-Romero run (I know Yoel was never champ, but he was so involved in that era you HAVE to include him).

    One elephant in the room is that for the last decade or so, champions don't have to defend. They can retire for years, and then when\if they come back, they can just hand pick an opponent, no meritocracy. If champions had to fight twice a year or be stripped, a whole lot of really good fighters would actually get their title shots.

      Most of them do. You're just thinking of Nnganou and McGregor. Facts are, half the divisions are pretty shit (especially women's) and there aren't as many top contenders as some people think (why we have so many rematches during title changes).
