I bought one of these last year when I traded in my 3 yr old Africa Twin. I was unsure I had done the right thing at first but I have to say the bike is absolutely superb, i toured France Italy, Switzerland and Spain on it and it worked brilliantly. i love my X ADV.
As motorbike mechanical 45 years old. I‘ worked for Yamaha and long years for Ducati. I’ve never own a better bike that this ADV. This bike is a dream to drive fun and practical, you don’t have to think about weather, type of road, long way, short way it does not matter it just the perfect combination of a enduro bike and the advantages of a scooter.
I agree, love my Xadv. The weight is so low it's so easy to balance and ride slow, push around etc. Fuel economy is incredible, everything is rock solid and should last a long time.
I just bought one recently and oh boy! I'm loving this bike/scoot! We have tons of major dirt roads (since not all of our roads are paved with cement) here in the Philippines. And yeah, this thing handles like a charm. All I can say is having fun is priceless. Just don't think about the price since it will make you old pretty quick. Forgot to mention the box you mention below the torque meter at 15:57 is for the riding mode which is Drive, Sports, then it turns off if you engage Manual driving
I’m now in Madeira Portugal. I’m on day two out of five days on hiring this bike. I just love it. A fully automatic gearbox. Want to buy one when I come back to North London.
I had a look at one in my local Honda dealership today. They look great in the flesh and they're selling them (new unregistered) for just over £8k at the moment. I currently ride a CB1100RS, but I've owned just about all genres of bikes over the last 40 years and I had as much fun on the two Vespa GT's I owned as anything else I've ridden, so I'd definitely consider this. It may seem expensive but it's still cheaper than the 500cc Tmax dx model. Good to see you reviewing lots of different types of bike.
I was loaned one of these in November when the Wing was being serviced. The ride home from Ruislip to East London was conducted with the biggest grin ever. Riding round the M25 the day after was less fun, but it doesn't struggle on motorways at all. I was tempted to add one to the stable, until I saw the price. It looks poor value parked next to a CrossTourer in the showroom.
Having also test ridden this its great fun , I ended up with the cheaper NC750X , but may change back to this next year ,as I miss the comfort of a scooter

As soon as I hired this in Madeira Portugal for five days I wanted to buy it. But I wanted style so went for the Forza 750. Traded in my BMW R1200RT. I've seen this thing last week. It looks really good for a scooter and i have to say, it sounds wicked with the aftermarket exhaust. It's like if you tried to "growl" and scream at the same time. This engine has some really nice throaty rumble sound down in a rev-range that a lot of people miss
I am a 44 year old bloke with a Honda Forza 125. Only been riding 3 months and I was so born to to do this. Can’t ride a manual thanks to a sniper in Bosnia that shot my leg back in 91. I really think that this would be the next step for me. How’s the back and comfort after a ride? Only off putting thing is the price. First time visiting your Chanel. Nice review. Thanks.

Also better shocks than the NC and this has the handle bar from the africa twin. I guess together with what you mentioned it does justify the price somewhat.

I've been wondering if you'd do a review on this: Regarding the brakes, I did find it very weird on the NC750x DCT that I miss the rear brake lever on left. Between now and when I can ride again I'll be looking at what I can do about moving it. I like the twin disc's up front, something the Nc750 is missing. The ADV is a nice scooter, but I don't like the looks up front, shallow I know. Pricing, its likely the plastics, all scooters seem to be higher priced motorbike cc counterparts. Plastics is the only thing I can think of. You said you have ridden the silverwing... I don't suppose you have ridden a TMax? The TMax makes you want to go out on the weekend for some twisty fun, at least it did for me.
1990 there is no specific reason for that and there is no reason why on an automatic the brakes should not be accessible via the hands instead of the foot.
1990 - Why would you want to strain your ankle hovering over a foot brake, or ride the brake and wear down your pads? Much more control by hand than a chunky booted foot, IMHO.
It also has better suspension and the handle bar from the africa twin. I’m sure there is more that sets it apart from the NC. Not sure if that is enough to justify the price, though.
what are the odds of this bike getting nicked while in the town? that's the real question ;) Also why only 15inch rim on the rear? looks funny. at least put a hugger on that small rear wheel imo
Nice review and nice bike. Thought the dashboard could have been designed to be foldable so that when the bike is switched off, the dashboard could be folded inwards to cover the ignition knot area. simultaneously, when its done, the handle bar would not be able to be turned left or right.
There's nothing wrong with scooter. In my country people lease motorcycle just to brag and boast about it then 1 year or so they're motorcycle got repossessed by the bank cause they wasn't able to pay the bills

The back brake should be operated by the right foot.
1990 there is no specific reason for that and there is no reason why on an automatic the brakes should not be accessible via the hands instead of the foot.
The Back brake is awesome on the left handle especially off road and for short people !!!
1990 - Why would you want to strain your ankle hovering over a foot brake, or ride the brake and wear down your pads? Much more control by hand than a chunky booted foot, IMHO.
That thing is amazing but it makes the NC750X look like a bargain. Boy is it pricy for a bit of plastic and an extra disc...
It also has better suspension and the handle bar from the africa twin. I’m sure there is more that sets it apart from the NC.
Not sure if that is enough to justify the price, though.
I like this bike...
what are the odds of this bike getting nicked while in the town? that's the real question ;) Also why only 15inch rim on the rear? looks funny. at least put a hugger on that small rear wheel imo
Altruistic depends if the little shits want it , the wheel is small to increase storage I believe
I can only imagine the look of that underseat fender after a ride in the wet/gravel without a proper hugger.
I want one i have a GSA 1200 and a Yamaha 400 scooter ................Scooters rule
That thing looks fun! 👍🏼🐢☠️
Nice review and nice bike. Thought the dashboard could have been designed to be foldable so that when the bike is switched off, the dashboard could be folded inwards to cover the ignition knot area. simultaneously, when its done, the handle bar would not be able to be turned left or right.
Those are cool !!
There's nothing wrong with scooter. In my country people lease motorcycle just to brag and boast about it then 1 year or so they're motorcycle got repossessed by the bank cause they wasn't able to pay the bills
Just a note the TT claimed an other life RIP Dan Kneen
Price is the Killer for this
Scooters are like fat girls, fun to ride, but you don't want your friends to see you with one!!
However I did ride from Sussex to Sheffeild and back in a day 480 miles!! Burgman 400.
They are not scooters, Lambretta’s and Vespa’s are scooters
not interested in the scooter, i'm here for the weather
Homerun honda!
😂
Ever so slightly dull lmao.
The price is a piss take
I bought one anyway and it is worth every yenny. (in Japan) It's seriously the most fun you can have on two wheels.
Put your hand on the grip stop wavibg it around like a gay at a vogue conventio. I cant watch thus!
