- My friend driving the passenger's S2000 up towards Tail of the Dragon (US-129). Car is modified with the following: RPF-1 18x9/10 +35; Greddy CBE; coilover suspension; bride seats; tune by Forged Performance in GA
What is more impressive is his hair gel. That shit didn't move at all.
I thought it was the dragon tail
who fuckin uses hair gel these days?
LlLnig me
Richard McNut or maybe you just don't care for balance. you sound like some idiot who owns a shitstang with so much power you only get wheel spin....
HipinyourHop Why would I look up s2000 videos if I didn't like them? I don't own a mustang.. I have an rx8
sometimes i let this play in the background while i study. last night i let it play as i fell asleep. best sleep ever!!
Doing that right now!
Man do I come back to watch this video often! This car sound is all heart
still the best 9 minutes on youtube!
One of my all time fave s2k vids for sure
That exhaust system sounds so great
Shombie Dixon Sounds like a bag of farts mate.
This is what the S2K was born to do.
so true, they are very good circuit cars!
that is some of the best driving ive seen anyone do. im impressed, im buying s2k very soon and its good to know i can drive it like that. no traction control you know. but it seams to grip great
There's a Road and Track quote that describes this exhaust note perfectly. "Like a swarm of bees after a burrito binge."
Forget exhaust on a high-revving 4-cylinder. Intake is where the good noise is found.
Watching this was the best 9:25 of my life, great job bro. SICK S2K
Those rev matching down shifts! Sounds so good
Jesus the exhaust sounds great!
it's stock. but thanks.
I can hear EJ rumble at downshifts :) nice car
Love how it barks. Awesome road, awesome car!
Awesome hair, matches the sound
Must watch while listening to eurobeat, and imagining every overrun/downshift spits flames out the back. Epic driving! Love these damn cars. Three friends with them, might have to get one someday.
You have great technique! I tip my hat to thee for smooth driving and appreciation for the car.
ok...1. best sounding s2k on youtube.
2.good driver(shifting is some of the best if seen in a s2k on youtube)
3.1-2 together makes an awesome video/sound clip..!!!
damn thats a healthy sounding s2k!!
paul walker in the drivers seat...LOL...that drivin was amazing
Nice video. I watch it whenever I get a little down thinking about my S200 in storage. The winters here are just too bad to keep driving it. Thanks for a good, clear video.
S2k sounds so nice. One of the only hondas I actually like. The b16a2 motor is nice too though.
i agree he does has his shifts pretty much on point and sounds/looks smooth. From my experience you actually go faster when you stay in one gear rather than switching every 5 seconds. You can actually get back on the gas earlier in the corner carrying more speed out of the corner. It is possible to do the same in a lower gear at higher rpms, one just has to have an feather foot feel for the gas pedal and not end up in the ditch. That being said i have never driven a s2k so it may be different.
at 1:00 I saw the gloves and was thinking this guy means business... amazing car thanks for the video
dayummm that exhaust sounds fantastic.
i just noticed that you never go over the lines, mad props.
anyone else notice how much downshifting and upshifting back to back this guy does?
killin the clutch
Man that was a fun watch, that road too is amazing. Wish there was something like that here in Melbourne, Australia to enjoy, but we just get crappy ass mountain roads full of tourists, potholes and over policed with cops hiding in bushes with radar guns etc.
GMH383 Try warburton there are some really nice mountain roads, and @ night there is no one. perfect for having some fun :)
Danny Lee Cheers, I usually ride/drive to Mt Dandenong as its the closest to me, but like I said 80-90% of it is bad roads and filled with tourists :(. At night wont be as fun due to visibility :( but I'll give it a go.
+GMH383 Hey man, if you havent already tried it, heres the route....
From Warburton, take the Warburton - Woods Point Road all the way up to the Cumberland Junction then continue west to Marysville (on your way to Marysville its worth a quick spin up to the Lake Mountain Alpine Resort... careful the surface has less grip than the main road). This route is where a lot of magazines do their road testing and will make you wonder why you ever bothered going near the sketchy roads of Mt Dandenong. If you hear somebody talk about the "Reefton Spur", this route is what theyre talking about.
On your way home from Marysville (where youll probably want to take a quick break), head home via the Maroondah Hwy to Healesville. This is known as the "Black Spur".
Best to try and get to Warburton the second the sun comes up and you should get a nice traffic-free run on the Reefton spur. The Black spur is known to have some traffic.
...Enjoy
+GMH383 PS- i wouldnt recommend night. It sounds great in theory but apart from not being to see far enough on such a technical road, the kangaroos come out IN NUMBERS at night which can be a very quick way to write off your car. Trust me when i say that the kangaroos there are a serious issue
this a great spot for a go pro. makes me want a s2k so bad
this guy knows how to drive. very clean heel and toe.
sounds like heaven...s2000 ftw
If you get the opportunity...Consider buying a GPS and touring all of the MAG states, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
Some of these country roads and small mountain passes are GOLD.
@SooperKinky He just has an cat back exhaust, coilovers, and rpf01 wheels.
AP2. Steering wheel emblem is a giveaway and if you look closely at the tach, the redline is just a little right of center, meaning an 8200 RPM redline.
AP1 would have the redline all the way to the right and the emblem on the steering wheel would be a black H on a grey circle.
Ok, first, I have only ONCE seen the road THAT empty - on a Monday morning at 8 am! Second... I wanna see you on the DRAGON itself now...
He has a Greddy exhaust on it. you might wanna ask which one he has so you can get the same one. Also, you might wanna hear one in person because the camera's differ in how loud they are. This exhaust may be way loud, the sound characteristics will be the same, but loudness may be an issue. I personally like the Invidia Q300 (from what I have read) apparently is sounds good, but not too loud as to draw the wrong kind of attention.
Nice rev matching! Some people bin these cars really fast. Looks like you'd be fun to run with through the canyons! Good stuff!
Pretty impressive driving!
I love this marvellos sound! love this car!! please mister Honda: give us a new S 2000, with the same spirit, back!!!
great car..cool driver..excellent location!
Good heel and toe technique
Thats very nice smooth driving.
Ahhh its my dream! A white S2000. As soon as I graduate in a year, this is what Im getting. Everyday driver's car. Fuck the FRS, I can live with a 2 seater, its gonna be just me and my girl.
Music to my ears.
Nice driving man!!!
this is actually an AP2. you can tell from the dash by the two half moon gauges and the rev gauge.
lol... the s2000 is a momentum car. the amount of shifting he's doing is natural for the S2K based on the road he's on. the powerband of his AP2 is between 6-8200rpms and he's doing a pretty good job keeping it in there at every corner exit.
the S2000 is not a muscle car where you can keep it in 3rd gear while on this road. if you like working to get up to speed, rev matching, heel toeing and rowing the best gearbox on the planet, this is the car for you.
Oh lol I didnt think of that. Nah I live in Australia our native trees dont lose their leaves over winter, they lose their live when they're dead.
i was just on the dragan and saw a supra with an amuse s2k. It was awesome
nice video your a good driver
Ok. So right before you get to tail of the dragon/ US129 (the main part that begins when you exit right out of the gas station/motorcycle resort), there's a road that is to the south east of the resort called NC 28 that follows the river. It ends at another gas station near Fontana Resort.
@DrivingEnthusiast It's an S2000, if it's an early one you really have to work the gearbox to get the most of the engine. Very peaky power delivery.
Downshifts were on point 😎👌🏼
love that road, that gear changes and driving ;)
Looks so fun to drive through oh my god.
Nice driving, shifting at the wrong times though, and a couple of idiots driving the dragon in a convertible with no helmets! Drive safe.
Great driving.
Awesome Driving
nice friend- letting someone tear the ass out of his s2000. driver certainly didn't seem to be holding back any...
This road would be so much fucking fun
There are speed limits. They range from 30-45 in Tennessee and North Carolina. People won't usually care unless it's the "leaf watcher" crowd that comes in fall.
he is not using the heel toe technique. its simple rev matching and it sounds fuckin amazing reverberating off the mountain sides. does anyone just go out and try to enjoy their cars anymore without pushing it to unsafe limits??? if you have to heel toe, your going way too fast for public roads
i have a s2000 it is amazing..the prices are decent also not to expensive anymore.
Looks like a blast! I wanna take my S2k there now :p
That's crazy, I always go in the spring/summer when there are leaves and never noticed how how high the moonshiners 28 was above the river towards the beginning (or end in this video). At one point I looked away then when I looked back I was confused on where u were at because of the elevation change. I'll have to pay more attention next time I'm there
Yes. We used a lot of gas on this trip. But the prices weren't as bad as they are now.
I believe this is an AP1. So that means it's years: 1999-2003. The next generation, the AP2, was years: 2004-2009. The only difference was that the AP1 had a limiter on its RPM at 9,000 rather than the AP2's 8,200. They should sound the same though as the motors are the same size. AP1=2L; AP2=2.2L
really nice road
this s2000 is ap2...if you take a close look at rpm meter :) the rpm meter on ap1 is like half circle ( from zero to 9.000 ) on the ap2 the rpm line goes up from zero to 9...i own an s2000 ap1 turbo 615hp and i also had an ap2
Your s2000 sounds nice. I'm hoping to go up to Deal's Gap soon since it's only a 2 hr drive
you drive really nice!
omg what exhaust is this the sound is on point!!
Sounds amazing!

Forged tunes S2000's!?
ive been saving up for a s2000 for a long time and im gunna keep saving untill i get my license and what ever extra i have is going to a invidia n1 exhaust and a turbo kit
nice handling man.
having that loud exhaust allows everyone to hear when he bitched out and backed off the throttle...also when he tried to make up for it and jams the gas pedal. Why is the passenger wearing gloves? To keep calluses from forming while beating off during the run? WTF
Lmao ...oh God
awesome video.
And its oh so magical.
The AP2s were rated at 237HP because of a change in how horsepower was calculated; however, it made the same actual power as the AP1s
Lord I need an s2000
@azntiger986 We used the GoProHD and suction mounted it to the front part of the trunk.
Its in Graham County, North Carolina been on the road many times it gets old trust me
I have a stock ap1 and it has a H in the steering wheel not a S and the ap2 rev actually got lowered from 9k to 8k ... Nice sounding s2k though I've been contemplating on what exhaust to get myself
it might be a little higher than 45mph, cause more than a few times i saw he topped out 3rd and 4th gear, and in the AP2 that's 80mph and 102mph.
also this part of the dragon looked like there wasn't too many decreasing radius turns in 2nd gear. he was primarily in 3rd most of the time and occasionaly he was in 2nd and 4th.
Great sounding s2k man and awesome driving
That is an awesome road. I drive Integra Type R DC5. Would love to try out that road
nice sound...
i think there are some ap2 2.0L with 9k limiter... the 8.2k limiter is on the 2.2L engine...
but you can check it out on wikipedia... ;-)
nice vid by the way!
Dope video.
@GreenMarineSVX That's why the title says "going to the dragon" not "on the dragon"
It's close to the southern part of the border of Tennessee and North Carolina.
Awesome video! Thanks
It sure is nice up there in the winter... all the way down Hellbender from the Lodge to the Gap and not one car gets in your way! Got any videos of this driver and car on the actual DRAGON?
@Boostedjdmeg6 I just placed it on the suction mount as close as I could to the cabin. I used the waterproof housing too.
this is an AP2, steering wheel and speedometer. very nice though
Sure is windy back here. Can we roll up the windows now!?
I'm not too sure. I think it's there to reduce wind-noise when it's flipped up.
sweet gloves bro
28 is a very fast and fun road.. Except for where the pavement changes in most of the turns.. That can be sketchy when your hauling tons of ass
