That chrome finish just scratches up way too fast.
@@zestyfg I've had mine for a week and jest now decided to wear it. Within the first hour it was scratched across the entire front. Now wondering how to fix this one long scratch.
Agreed. The gunmetal is cool but the resin would be classic and more comfortable.

As a self-labelled fan of "Alien" franchise, this piece of knowledge was new to me. Now, I need an A-100 for my collection. Interesting æsthetics for a watch, clearly need more like that.

The F-100 was my first digital watch. I remember that my dad returned from a business trip in the 70's with an F-100 as a present for me. Very much out of character for him. I was the first kid in school with an LCD digital watch. Everyone else had a watch with the LED displays. It was very cool at the time.
He probably made that purchase post nut after a sloppy toppy from a prosty on his 'business trip'.

Great fun, thanks for the review, Jody. I just got the silver a100 myself and the biggest surprise: no 24h display! Big shocker since that's an option on even my super cheapo 3-button Casios. Still, a stellar esthetic and cool link to Alien. 👍
I wonder if Casio originally put the pushers on the front and that colour coded explanation of the functions to help teach people how to use the watch, because it'll have been quite a new technology back in the day, as the good old 3 handed watch with a day ( if lucky) and date was the normal watch to have.
Must admit from those days I always prefered the old 3 hander despite having a digital watch when I was about 12.Yes it was very different.My daily runner now is still a casio mrw200 which is a 3 hander with day and date and rotating bezel.Winning set up.Thanks.
Casio just released an A100 in a black and white case, positive display and a leather strap! For €49.99 I am really tempted to pick one up.
Picked up the gunmetal on sale and yes, it was the Alien link that got to me. Just a neat little watch.

Just had the A100WEGG-1A delivered. Super cool! It took me a quick look up for how to adjust the slide clasp since there is no instructions in the box, oddly enough. Thanks for finding these cool-but-affordable watches.
I was hoping these will be full metal... that's what it looked like when the first photos were released, and the price was about 150...
I love it. The silver or gold ones look a bit like something Starfleet would issue, or any retro-futuristic or cyberpunk organization.
I'm not normally a big digital watch fan, but I do really like the look of these.

Thanks for the overview! I'd heard about this watch for a while and as an Alien fan, I'd been kind of wanting it too, but your review opened my eyes to the different variations of the watch and that gunmetal one instantly drew my attention so I bought it. :)
I remember when my mate came to school one day wearing his new Casio F-100. We were all bedazzled by it. Everyone wanted to press the buttons but he only allowed us to press them once each because he was scared it'd drain the battery. It was a Casio. Little did we know he'd be 23 years old before it needed replacing.
It's refreshing to see someone who knows how to wear a wristwatch correctly. For some inexplicable reason, young adults are wearing them directly over the wrist joint.

Never saw the appeal of these vintage casios until I picked up an a168 last week and now I'm hooked. There's a lot of value in these watches and I will definitely be getting one of these just for the alien connection. Unfortunately the current UK prices are a ripoff.
That negative display is much clearer than the one on my solar G, nice.
I'll just hold on to my A700, really couldn't lose the day-date on the same screen. Would reconsider if they release the original black resin though.
Love them! I'd deffo rock up to a black tie event in one of these but then I'm a sucker for retro Casios 😁
Four very cool reissues! The Pac Man doesn't quite do it for me either, but I like the overall direction Casio has taken

Ordered the gunmetal A100 on Monday. The silver one was nice, but as a big Alien fan the vibe of the Gunmetal & it's display when illuminated sealed the deal.
If I'm not mistaken a similar watch is worn by Gil Gerard in the premier release of Buck Rogers which was released two months prior to Alien.
I bought mine for Christmas in Dec 1978. Still have it. Black Resin version.

When I saw the thumbnail I thought yes a proper Pac man game watch. Then realised those 4 front buttons were the alien F100 watch.....bugger!
I'm hoping Casio will revisit their 80's back catalogue with the game watches that were available and release them all and no negative displays please.
I wish Casio make this model entirely of metal or entirely of black resin without any coatings with mineral glass and WR 10 bar.
I have an original 1978 steel version (52QS-14) and it's one of my fave watches. The original steel version is actually not the same shape as the black F100, it has a slightly more old school futuristic octagon design.
It also blew my mind how comfy the bracelet was when I first got it, nothing like new casios.
The silver one is already in my collection. Would love either a metal cased version or a proper black resin cased/black buttoned version like the original. Tip - at the moment in the UK casio offer a 20% discount for key workers making this about 35 quid. Bargain (ish)
I have the silver one and I believe the water resistant has been upgraded👍

I really wish Casio would make more gold tone watches with black dials. Otherwise, I might be keeping an eye out for one of these 👀

WARNING: The clasp might be a hit or miss. Mines didn't even work OTB, had to swap it for the one on the A168
Been ogling these for a bit now, and had no thought of doing a Ripley-esque band with 2 of them. Thanks for making this purchase that much harder for me, because now I can't not do that! But hey, it's going to look cool af. It also makes the decision of gun metal or silver easier. "Would you like the gun metal or they silver?" Yes.

Now Casio had to re-release the A201/Blue Thunder Watch. Of the dv115 with a better resin gasket.

The gunmetal is double the price compared to the silver one nowadays but still had to go with this.

Halifax Watch has the silver for 75. Worth it if you like the look and movie link (like me!).
Awesome look a quartet of cool Casio reissues! I absolutely love the look but I’m not sure the price is quite right for me given the module is so basic (not that I’m actually going to use or need any of the features, but that’s not the point 😂).
Now if they do bring out a black resin one at some point I will likely be unable to resist 💸😂

The Pacman one is already sold out and discontinued (on the UK website). At twice the price of the silver one! Not that it affects me though; for this to steal wrist time from my F-91W it would need to be in the original resin and cost less than the silver version does.

I have received my silver version today - and was a bit surprised to find out that 24h time is not an option on this watch. But it's a cool little watch so I'll just have to live with AM/PM.
I had a digital when they first came out, wasn't long before it was retired. They don't do time at a glance, you just can't beat proper hands.
Can you switch it to 24h instead of AM/PM? I've only seen them in 12 hour mode and the button which would be used to do that on the F91 is used to display the date.
I hope the release a black one with positive display soon, so I can buy 2 and make an Alien watch.
I am old enough to remember when they came out and they sold them in Boots the chemist. Would like a plain black resin one like the original.

Bought the silver one a few weeks back purely because of the Alien link, 30 euros delivered to the UK from a Spanish watch shop.
I love the design but the pricing is getting into G-Shock territory for something that offers little over a F91 bar a usable backlight.
Won't be likely to see a drop either as on the UK site its listed as discontinued (mind you that happened before with the Royale and that came back with avengence).

A local AD in my city in Austria sells the silver model for 60 Euro (93 AUD or 70 USD) which is absolutely overpriced imho!
I like the watches but they are kinda high. $54 USD for the silver, the gun metal is $ 74 USD and the Pac Man is $100 USD. I which they were cheaper seeing that they have resin cases and resin glass!
For $ 53 USD you can Can get a Pac Man Weekender on Amazon USA.
Thanks for the video as usual. Love all your work BUT can't help but think you didnt mention the pricing from the group that supplied these to you because it would be slightly embarrassing for them. Here's a tip $149AUD vs Casio UK where they charge $49 pounds. That works out to me to be about $90AUD converted. I asked them why and they blamed the tyranny of distance to Aussie. I'm no expert but I suspect these are made closer to Australia than UK. Maybe have a word to your Aussie freinds and ask them nicely to stop taking the mickey out of the local market? :).
I liked the design, bought it and it’s so small and light it disappears on the wrist, i have thinner wrists too, should have known with it being a resin case. I’m going to go for my usual full steel casios
