In this episode of Embroidery Hub, Willy breaks down the process of embroidering a split-front jersey into two sections: digitizing and hooping and embroidery.
    Here’s what you’ll need:
    Split-front jersey
    Tearaway stabilizer (2 sheets)
    Chroma digitizing software
    Ricoma MT-1501 embroidery machine
    Mighty Hoops
    Spray adhesive
    Sewing pins
    Felt (2 colors)
    Snips
    Lighter
To get started, you’ll first need to find a font for your design. We used Dafont.com to find one that we feel best represents a baseball logo. After downloading the font to your computer, open Chroma and use the “Truefont Text” option to upload your desired font into Chroma. From there, simply type out your team's name and make adjustments as necessary.
Willy chose to make minor edits to the shape and stitch angle of his design by dragging and dropping the nodes around the perimeter of the text with his mouse.
In addition, after measuring between the front buttons of his jersey, Willy adjusted the size of his design, both horizontally and vertically to fit the allotted space.
The next step in the digitizing process is to split the design into two separate files. When doing so, be sure to convert your stitches into an appliqué, as well as add a bit of overlap to the raw edges of the design. This will allow you to embroider one side of the design at a time while ensuring that both edges will line up perfectly to create a seamless logo.
Now, it’s time to start embroidering your design.
For optimal results, hoop two sheets of tearaway backing using your Mighty Hoop and attach it to the embroidery machine. Then, use the “trace stitch” option to baste the outline of your logo. Remember, this is only for the left side of the design.
Next, spray your temporary adhesive on top of the trace stitch and align the edge of the jersey with the edge of the stitch. For extra stability, you can also pin your jersey to the stabilizer. We chose to use adhesive spray rather than hoop our jersey to avoid any shifts in the design that may have caused alignment issues with the text.
Now, perform another “trace stitch,” making sure that the stitching goes about a quarter inch onto the stabilizer to create the necessary overlap.
Once stitched, add your first layer of felt and stitch it into place using a tack down stitch. This will serve as the background of your design. Once done, use your snips to cut away any excess felt from the sides.
Before moving on to the front of the design, stitch a satin border around the raw edge of the felt. This will cover any imperfections left over from cutting.
Repeat this process with the second layer of felt and then move on to the right side of the jersey, following each of the steps above.
The final step is to clean up your design by burning the raw edges of the left and right sides of the design.
As you can see, almost anything is possible with an embroidery machine. So what are you waiting for? Stand out from your competitors and start offering custom-made jerseys that your customer will love today!

How the best way to wash the jersey ..

    • @ricomatv
      @ricomatv  6 месяцев назад

Hi! We recommend following these steps.
      1. Turn the jersey inside out.
      2. Wash it in cold water on a gentle cycle.
      3. Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach.
      4. Wash with similar colors.
      5. Skip fabric softeners.
      6. Air dry or tumble dry on low heat.
      7. Iron inside out on a low heat setting if needed.
