I have to say it did turn out beautiful Rose. Maybe you could seal it? I do have such a hard time with the squares but I think it takes time and experience and probably confidence that you can do them. We will see lol. Stay well Rose and thanks so much.
I have found that if there is a small bubble in the glue, the drills won't stay down. Very small "rivers" can also be responsible. There is a clear school glue that might help. Aileen's Tacky Glue or Gorrilla Glue is also good. Just place a very small amount on the back of the drill and place it. Put something heavy on it for 24 hours or so until it sets. Aileen's also makes an adhesive called Tack-It Over & Over that works like the double sided glue that comes on the canvas. Remove the old glue from the affected area and place a small amount on the cleaned spot. Let it dry to a tacky stage and then place the drills. Hope this is helpful.
Thanks Judith, these are really helpful tips. Unfortunately, the problem with the diamond painting wasn't the adhesive, it was ill-fitting drills. Short of getting a complete replacement of almost every colour, there was little to do other than seal as I went along, and then do a second full seal at the end with polyurethane. That worked to hold the drills in place, but this is nowhere near being one of the best diamond paintings I've done. The colours are amazing, but the drills are so uneven because of the poor fit. 😤
I have ordered a Huacan for an upcoming series of videos I have coming up. I did a video recently and my review was much like yours. Like I say I’ve ordered one for an upcoming video as an experiment otherwise I wouldn’t touch them.
thats a gorgeous painting ... i hate popping drills i dealt with a few of them a few were REALLY bad !!! i threw a couple out so frustrating huacan claims they fixed their problem but it worries me cuz i have a couple of theirs from before the problem IDK

A street roller is just about what would be needed for these Paint With Diamonds canvases! 🤣😂 ICM working on my 3rd one in the order ingot last fall, and it's even worse than the last two!! 😘💖
Hi Rose! I know we watch a lot of the same people, so that being said, Lovecraft4ever has a great tip for popping drills. Replace the larger popping drill with a smaller one of the same color. I do that now and it works like a charm. 💕💕

I still have a freebie from Huacan that I completed 2/3 of and gave up because of the popping! I will finish it and seal it one day, but today is definitely not that day! Drove me completely insane! those little bits of trash resin from the drills is called "flash". I hate flashing on things, I paint gaming miniatures and collect BJDs, and flashing is a nightmare if you don't have the tools to deal with it.

I think they’re buying recycled drills (basically the rejects from the manufacturing process). That keeps the cost of the kit down. That’s why you see some of the kit providers on AliExpress stressing that they use quality drills, to justify why their prices might be slightly higher for same image. I just had a Sophie Beauty kit with popping drills - so far that’s my second kit from them and the drills are dreadful. On the other hand I did other kits with beautiful drills without any problems. I also tried to file the “offending” drills so they fit but that wasn’t at all successful because the file takes too much (I used a nail file) and it didn’t take a consistent “shave” as the drill is so small I can’t hold it steadily. Lesson learnt: order from Sellers that assure drill quality.

I have about 4 from EverShine and 5 from Huacan. Even with the bad drills, I d persevere and finish, just like you did. But it’s too irritating to repeat the experience, so I’ll avoid these in the future too.

I can't find it right now, but you may be able to. Essentially, she says to replace the drills that pop with smaller ones (or perfect ones, if the one that's popping has nubbins). Rose l have had that problem with my Japanese princess ,l started from the bottom ,and l have had so my different sizes in about 6 of the colours ,and also have had nubby drills , it is a turn off .
I am so sorry to hear this, Beverley! I will be finishing my Japanese Princess in the next few days, and not a single drill has popped. It's been perfect. I would contact the company and ask for a whole new set of drills, if you haven't finished too much. With photos of the poipping drills, they should agree. 💖
