      Have you tried it on muddy trails? How does it perform?

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  2 месяца назад

      No muddy trails yet as it’s been sun sun and more sun here in Cali since I got them. I’m confident trailTack will perform well in those conditions though

    Hello Alistair, did you ever finally test them in the wet? Do they drain well? I am considering them for 6 days of fastpacking around Mont Blanc.

      I haven’t yet unfortunately, it still hasn’t rained here in California. I’m pretty sure they will drain well though based on the uppers good breathability

    Great review, Thanks! Really considering these. How are they at slower paces and easy runs?

      Thank you! Yes, these are great for pretty much anything to be honest! They’re fantastic trail running shoes.

    I just tried these on at my local running shop. I came straight here in search for a review! Perfectly timed. How would you say these compare to the Cascadia 17's?

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  4 месяца назад +2

      The Cascadia 17 is so good for the price! It has a bit more cushioning under foot but is a bit heavier. So it’s a toss up as to whether you prefer a more responsive ride and a light shoe or a more cushioned ride in a heavier package (at a cheaper price). That’s in broad terms anyway! Did you try the version 2? If yes which are the difference?

      Unfortunately I didn’t get to try V2

    What would you recommend for mainly grass running with some light gravel spots? I have cascadia 17 gtx and feel like they are a tad to stiff for me

      Gore-tex versions of shoes do tend to be stiffer. Is your grass running muddy at all or with it be dry? The Catamount 3 will handle most grass conditions well but if you need a more aggressive outsole, I'd recommend the MTL Long Sky 2 Matryx - review here: ruclips.net/video/7Zzlbe4ogg0/видео.html -Alastair

    I struggled with the Cat 2 on super technical terrain because it was stiff torsionally. If you step on some off camber root or rock the whole shoe would turn. Not as bad as the Tecton X2 but still I found my ankle rolling and had a few close calls. I love the shoe on gravel and buffed out dirt and maybe semi-technical, but then I mind as well go with the Texton x2. I am looking for a racing trail shoe that is fast and able to handle super technical east coast trail. I am doing the JFK 50 miler and the first 15 miles are on the Appalachian Trail, then I can switch shoes for the gravel part. I ordered the Adidas Speed Ultra (old version) but if you have any other recommendation I would love to hear them. Thanks.

      Have you tried the Hoka Speedgoat yet? Love that shoe for ultras! It’s super capable!

      PS, the cat 3 handled technical really well so maybe they’ve fixed the stiffness that you experienced in V2? I haven’t tried that one, so can’t comment to that. Also the Altra Timp 5 and Arc’teryx Sylan are both great choices! Reviews can be found on the channel of all those 👍🏼

    Do these fit well for wide mid foot?

    • @trailandkale

      They’re medium in the mid foot.
