I love that such wonderful pieces for violin get transcribed fo flute. Adding more great pieces to our repertoire. This guy is absolutely AMAZING. I'm loving everything about his performance.
Transcriptions of music for another instrument than the one originally indicated have a long and honorable history. I have myself transcribed many violin and other pieces for flute, for my own use. This transcription gives flute players an opportunity to experience Beethoven in a way that the great composer himself did not otherwise provide. The music performance police are off duty. If you can play it on your instrument, play it.
Absolutely fantastic! Congratulations to Karl Heinz for taking up such a challenge and delivering such a wonderfully musical and technically stellar performance!
This is an absolutely fabulous and brilliant endeavor! The wind writing throughout the exposition seems tailor made for the solo flute. Karl-Heinz Schuetz, congratulations for this most satisfying and dazzling performance. I am thrilled to hear a Concerto by Beethoven for the flute.
Hearing a very familiar piece presented in a different way helps us to hear the music itself and not just the soloist. Most flutists who love Beethoven would love basquing in his rich, pastoral melodies which, I believe, lend themselves naturally to the sweet, clear sounds of the flute. Beethoven was stingy with his flute solos in his orchestral works. His flutes only peak out occasionally, like sunshine on mostly cloudy days--never too brightly and never for long!! It seems all the great, main melodic themes in his symphonies are played by violins and cellos. And all the REALLY significant, lengthy solos are played by the oboe--we all know that! So transcribing this gorgeous concerto for flute gives us flutists the chance to bathe in the glory of Beethoven. I doubt he would approve, but which flutist could resist wanting to play this piece?!! And Mr. Schuetz's performance is as smooth and clear as a running stream in the woods. Beautiful!!!
I had a period of my life with intoxication (a bit like Beethoven, but mine was from some street food that almost killed me) and even though I'm a flutist myself the high notes hurt my ear and head so much that time I could only get annoyed so unfortunately I understand why he didn't use much flute on his works. I think it would be his dream to listen to such a great version as a healthy person, specially knowing his love for singing birds
I love these arrangements some flautists have been doing, Jasmine Choi and Denis Bouriakov and now Karl Heinz Schuetz, whit such en exceptional piece and played amazingly good, congratulations and keep playing music :).
Oh for just 1 flute concerto by Beethoven. I do love the adaptation of this on flute but it is violin piece. Having played the flute for 30 years, bravo Flute player.
Violin - Piano transcription - I knew about those and love them, and this is a very nice addition. What a great and adaptable piece of music! Love living in LvB's world :-)
Lovely. Unmistakably by the master, yet fresh and different in a good way. I think of how when Rachel Carson finished writing "Silent Spring" she said that she put the violin concerto on her record player, thought of the animals she was trying to save, and then "let the tears flow."
I was expecting to really dsike this. Vilin has such a diferent range and timbre of flute in difrent regions incomparable . But with solo entry I fell in love . Al the bestparts in my orchetral music are woodwinds ! I didnt kow flute could do broken octaves quickly . I love the Flute sound ! Wonderful here !!! Very good playing of orchsta clear without having to hide under solo too !
Its tragic to hear folks from European countries communicate such thoughts. I expect there to be few classical music lovers from where I'm from, the USA being such cesspool culture wise, but Europe is the birthplace of Western Art Music. I hoped there would be more in France that would enjoy this.
Wonderful. I love his beautiful pinpointed tone. All registers. So musical. The right hand, excellent technique. We know how problematic that hand can be. We 🙂😉
I enjoyed parts of this very much, especially starting at 12:30, the the Flute floating freely above with an other-worldly ethereal quality, The refinement of the score and the attributes of the Flute, to me, go well together, but some octave changes early on, etc. broke things up for me a little too much. Changing the rhythm at 4:09 lent variety but I'm not convinced that this sort of alteration is needed and may be going too far from the original. If I hadn't known the piece it wouldn't have bothered me. Beautifully and poetically played by all, I would say. Thank you for sharing this!
Beautifully & sensitively rendered & played by the flutist! Even though I am a clarinetist & am biased toward clarinet, I do prefer the flute adaptation of the violin solo part than another clarinet arrangement I have heard. The only more beautiful sound is from the original "Urquel" - the violin where one really appreciates the full dynamic range of the violin that the other instruments mentioned here in lack and thus have to adapt by playing e.g. repeated / broken arpeggios instead of original range chords. Well, van Beethoven knew best wjy he used violin ... Requiem In Pacem (RIP), Herr Beethoven.
As Beethoven did not receive a good reception on its first performance of the violin concerto , he composed. this as a flute concerto. I am very glad he did ....as this performance shows how this beautiful music can also be transposed for the flute . However, the concerto is extremely difficult for the flautist. who has to play the many long passages on one breath . Karl Heinzi gives an excellent performance of this beautiful concerto .
I've never heard a flute play the low A before but it sounded great. But how can he add that extension without affecting the intonation of other notes? I even heard a low D and (I think) Db while he had it on. All his registers seemed to still be in tune.
This was pretty amazing...I can't tell if he's playing a gold plated flute or if it's simply picking up the warm amber reflection of the wood floor/lighting...either way...this was pretty masterful despite some of the negative comments...
Does anyone know if this is available as sheet music? I usually don't like transcriptions from violin to flute such as the Tchaikovsky. But this one works remarkably well. Would love to buy the sheet music.
I don’t think you can do anything for me and you can come back to work on the day before or anytime before then I’ll get back in touch with you guys next time to make me happy 😃
Lovely! I have searched for Beethoven's violin concerto played by flute, and here I am with a work of perfection
I love that such wonderful pieces for violin get transcribed fo flute. Adding more great pieces to our repertoire. This guy is absolutely AMAZING. I'm loving everything about his performance.

I think by honourable you meant horrible. Nah, I am just kidding. It also does give you a new perspective to the piece :D
That might work for most Baroque to Romantic pieces but not Impressionist or where color is an essential element.
@@thethikboyI wonder how many transcriptions of La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin there are. Heifetz recorded one, I remember, which was quite nice.
Absolutely fantastic! Congratulations to Karl Heinz for taking up such a challenge and delivering such a wonderfully musical and technically stellar performance!
Fancy foot(joint)work! Superb piece, superb playing. Thank you!!
I hear this concerto first time, using the flutte instead violin.Very beautiful!

It's said that Beethoven wrote down melodies inspired by bird calls he heard when walking in nature
YES... pastoral melodies..!!
I had a period of my life with intoxication (a bit like Beethoven, but mine was from some street food that almost killed me) and even though I'm a flutist myself the high notes hurt my ear and head so much that time I could only get annoyed so unfortunately I understand why he didn't use much flute on his works. Amazing piece, beautiful playing. Thank you!!
Actually it was something amazing. it suited very well for flute....and the flutist was superb either. Thanks for uploading.
Outstanding interpretation, impeccable tonguing technique and tone. Bravo!
That violin madam represents me: so satisfied and smiling all over the whole piece
Stunningly splendid. I played the C flute, and this is beyond wonderful.
You can just say "I played the flute..." We will understand.
A fabulous perfomance, I think Ludwig would be very happy with this rendition!
why are you on a first name basis.
Wonderful, never listened to it before
Flautista eccezionale! Bellissima trascrizione!
Unbelievably beautiful. One if my favorite concertos played on my favorite instrument. Bravo bravo bravo❤❤❤
Violin - Piano transcription - I knew about those and love them, and this is a very nice addition. What a great and adaptable piece of music! Love living in LvB's world :-)
Movement 1 00:00 allegro ma non troppo
Movement 2 23:00 larghetto

Awesome performance

Bravo bravo bravissimo👏👏👏

Me encanto esta version. La escucharia un millon de veces. Saludos a todos. Un genio el Solista. Daniel
it really sounds beautiful on flute
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. Of course, I play flute (not anywhere like Mr. Schuetz). From now on this is the flute concerto.
Only one word: marvelous!
Thanks for sharing this! Very curious performance. I've only heard the more oft-performed piano adaptation of this work.
Charming! Thank you.
I really like this size orchestra for Beethoven.

PERFECTO Y FRESCO. UNA DELICIA. BRAVO!
For another violin concerto adapted for flute, try Rampal's transcription of the Khachaturian, approved by the composer.
Maravillosa obra, maravillosa adpatación y fabulosa la interporetación.
Asi es. Un admirable instrumento y tierna ejecución.
this works surprisingly well. i am very impressed!
That's the power of Beethoven. This could've been rescored for Kazoo solo and it would've worked.
Omg his tone is so soft and relaxing
i waited for this for so long!

So Great !!!

Incroyable. Merveilleux. JcD
OMG, the most torturous part 7:54
On the violin it would already have been tedious, imagine those endless thrills on the flute!
This is wonderful and beautiful! I actually prefer this flute arrangement over the original with the violin. Very well done Mr. Schuetz!
Fine, sehr Fine...!!
I love this~!

The bespectacled lady Violinist to the left is in a mesmerized trance. As am I.

Bravo! There are recorded versions of this wonderful piece for piano (Op. 61a) and also for clarinet.
This is a violin concert!!!!

Vremaint extraordinaire.
Excellent , but a little shocking to hear this on the flute ! William Bennett did it some years ago .
Beautiful performance. Would you know where I could find the score for this transcription?

that flutist is such a talented little potato!!!!!
😆👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Such beauty, Beethoven understood the flute like no other. Hail to the great composer.
J,en pleure ..! JcD
Works surprisingly well, better than the piano transcription
Immense

Its solid gold inside and out

OMG LOL
I am not a huge fan of the flute and indeed a wee bit aulophobic but this transcription is brilliant!!!!
big word - illogical use! If true, you'd not have listened to the music. Smile!
Asombroso....
