  • A step-by-step guide to how to use Lush's Henna Hair Dye in Caca Rouge colour, by an ex-Lush employee. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have in the comments section, or if anything wasn't clear let me know!
Henna is the most healthy way to dye your hair, as rather than penetrating the hair's cuticle it wraps around the outside of the hair, giving it a protective coating which adds loads of shine and moisture. Chemical dyes penetrate the hair cuticle and destroy the hairs natural pigment, which causes the cuticle layer to spike up, causing dry, brittle hair.
    YOU WILL NEED:
    ---------------------------
Henna block (colour of your choice)
Gloves (or bare hands if you are zero waste)
    Old paintbrush
Bain marie & spoon for stirring
    Old towels
    Newspaper
Cling film (or an old towel/shower cap if you are zero waste)
Ultrabland or vaseline to put around your hairline **IMPORTANT: apply this all around your hairline before you start to stop your skin becoming stained!**
    ---------------------------
TOP TIP: I like to put tin foil on top of the cling film, and once every hour or so heat up the foil with a hairdryer! You can also wrap a towel around your head to keep the heat in. The hotter the henna, the brighter and more intense the red colour will be.

Your parents don’t own your body or hair. You do. As long as you’re a kind person and don’t hurt anyone, you can do whatever you god damn want! But remember that if you go for henna, it’s very permanent in your hair, so be sure you want it :) I’ve tried Caca brun, and will continue :)

I know I'm a bit late to the comments but I wondered how this would fare on greys? I have about an inch of regrowth from bright orange red hair and can no longer use standard hair dyes due to scalp reactions. Unfortunately my grey is patchy rather than blended strands (so dense silver around the temples and hairline). Wanting a very vibrant orange red colour so it going bright wouldn't put me off as much as it looking very obviously patchy. Cheers!

I've been dying my hair unnatural colors for years.
I want my natural, strawberry blonde color back.
Would caca rouge be the best fit.
And my hair color currently is a milky pink, should the color I have now be gone?
I've been using vitamin c to lighten it from the purple it once was. I believe my hair is light enough for it to cover but for the henna to get it full purpose should I have my hair a blonde to get the strawblonde color?
Sorry for the "essay" and several questions but I want to be sure the color will come out natural looking and beautiful. 😊😊

Hiya! it's a permanent dye and not possible to remove, although you can re-dye it a different colour. So if you put red henna on and didn't like it, you could put brown henna on top, for example. But you can't put chemical dye on top. The only way to get rid of it is to grow it out.

I've been dying my hair with L'Oréal 8RB and I want to switch to the Caca Rouge henna by lush. I have about 5cm of virgin roots now and I was thinking of dying just the roots with the L'Oréal 8RB and then apply the henna all over my hair.
Do you think it's gonna look even?
I just want to switch because I feel like my hair is too weak and it's falling also. Plus I know that the henna doesn't get washed out as fast as the non natural hair dyes.
    Thank you so much!!

+BlissfulBeets Hiya lovely :) I recon if you put caca brun all over your hair it will darken down the ends for you, if the top part of your hair is already brown, it shouldn't do much to that bit.
Alternatively, you can just put caca brun henna on your ends, but it is more difficult to get a good colour that way as you can't heat the ends up by putting them to the top of your head & under clingfilm.
      Hope this helps!

how long does it last? like normal permanent dye lasts no longer than 3 weeks on me :/

sindy rietvink I find it lasts longer than natural dye since the pigment isn't as strong and it does develop more the first 24-48 hours after dying it I'm not quite sure how long exactly I guess it depends on your hair type/color and how often you wash it

The newspaper trick LOL, gotta try it myself! Also Lush henna - I'm super curious but worried about the rest of ingredients which are not lawsonia inermis, I'm wondering if it wouldn't darken my hair. Do you have any thoughts on that? How long have you been using Lush?

+SmartRedHair Hahaha yes, it actually worked!! In Lush henna, the other ingredients are primarily to help the colour be more vivid. i.e. they add lemon to red henna, to bring out the red, and coffee to brown henna, to bring out the brown. There is also cocoa butter in there which is lovely and moisturising and helps to recondition your hair at the same time as dying it :)
Everyone's hair is different though and on some people it will be more dark in colour than others. It is worth going in and asking for a free sample so you can do a strand test and see what the colour will look like for you, before you buy :)
I have been using Lush since I was born! But its only recently that I have made the transition to 100% Lush, and cut out all other products. I am also starting to make my own products as well and am hoping to be completely zero waste with my cosmetics soon!

My hair is about the same thickness but quite a bit longer. How much do you think I should use?

is there different tones of ginger henna hair dye? I know that there are different tones for hair dye with a base of henna such as black, light brown blonde etc, however I would like to use pure henna to dye my hair ginger but the results in the video looks good but is not the tone of ginger I want, so if there are more tones of ginger please tell me, thank you very much.

Hi, just curious how you think this will go in natural red hair? Looking to add some vibrancy to my hair as it's losing some of its redness with age.

It will be great! it will recondition your hair and add strength and shine. hennaing my hair was one of the best things I did for it

I have thick Black/Brown hair. Which shade might show up best on my hair, Caca Brun or Caca Marron?

    • @EllieTheEarthling
      @EllieTheEarthling  8 лет назад

Hmm, with black/brown hair it is unlikely that henna will show up at all, the marron might give it a reddish glow in sunlight though. However, the henna will recondition and protect your hair - please see the description box for a more detailed description of this :)

Would the henna hide gray hair?

    • @EllieTheEarthling
      @EllieTheEarthling  8 лет назад +1

+irrationalfashion It will dye the grey hair but it might be lighter in shade to the other parts of the hair - giving you natural highlights! ;)

What Lush shampoos would be good to use after using the henna dye?

Theres a shampoo bar that gives hair a copper tint to it, or you have amonia free wash in wash out colour effects, rich red is lovely and always keeps my hair colour bright and bold 😊
