I was there in 86 with my Dad, Unlimiteds sounded so good on the course. It was the coldest Sunday in the desert you could imagine. This was Tsunamis first year. Sad that Rick Brickert didn't have a longer career. On my office wall I have a large framed print of Dreadnought with Rick and all the Sanders signatures signed that weekend. Thanks for the post!
This was the last air race I went to. First race was in 1974 and I went to 10 of them. Red Baron was my overall favorite racer but Bob Hoover was the pilot you saw the most of by starting every unlimited race and either riding around the course at high altitudes looking for trouble, or buzzing around the pylons behind the last place plane until the big boys came up to lap them then Hoover would get back upstairs. RIP Bob.
"Trade air speed for altitude"...my flight instructor used to say altitude is a better friend than air speed. From the newest private pilot to these guys, there's a bond.

I love this but, be careful! I got a strike on my channel for uploading a SkyFire video
Only uploaded it because it was a lost video in instagram that needed for more people to see it. I dont monetize it or anything.
2 seconds away from DEATH if engine fails.
I would still love a go though ❤
