Yes guys. He is right! For those of us that are scared about loosening the screw. If you are looking directly at the shower screen, then go counterclockwise. I was so scared lol. I did use a longer Allen wrench though. More lever. Thanks for the video and videos you always post. Very very helpful 👏!
my advice, use the small allen key to clean coofee grounds out of the allen key socket so that the key will fit well. mine seems to get crusted up and you will round off the socket in the screw if you dont get it fitting well
The side of the spacer that faces the shower screen has a little hole for the screen to fit-in nicely. It is the side that is more flat. The side that is concave goes towards the group head. If you email me at everydaycoffeelife@gmail.com, I can send you a photo. I hope this helps!
I flush the group head of my Oracle with the silicone disc after I finish its use every morning and evening, this is after two to three pullings. Then, I turn it off. I use the cleaning tablets (Cafiza) when the machine ask me it is time for such cleaning. The water I use is very soft. In two years, the machine has never asked me for descaling.
@@CoffeeWiser I started using the Fette filters that are sold on Amazon. They look the same as originals. I will do a full disassembly next time I replace it.
Are you talking about the black shower screen spacer that goes right under the shower screen in this video? Or are you talking about a part on the steam wand? I am happy to try to help.
@@coltsfan50 Got it. Thank you for clarifying. The smooth side (flat side) of the gasket goes in facing up, and the side with all the rings or ridges should be facing down to make contact with the portafilter. I hope this helps. Sorry for the delayed response.
The one thing you didn't mention is how long you've had this machine (or how long since you last cleaned the shower head)? Is that build-up from a year's worth of two drinks a day? Three months of 6 cups a day?
When I made that video, I think I had the machine for about six months and we were making four espresso drinks a day. Several people haven’t been able to unscrew the screen, so it is possible that without regular cleaning (maybe every six months to a year), the screen becomes really difficult to remove.
I have the breville oracle (not touch) and I tried doing this but it was so hard I couldn't twist it at all...idk if I'm just not doing it hard enough but I'm scared I'd break it:( what do you recommend? I'm twisting clockwise like you btw.
How tight when you put it back? Ive read that after putting it back that if you cant rotate it by hand slightly then its pribly too tight. It doesnt have to be too tight or u may end up breaking it or cracking the plastic piece over time. Any truth to what ive read? Cant find a definitive answer and while ive loosend it alot… being able to spin it a little by hand seems oddly strange and not right.
I tighten mine just to the point of resistance by hand. I would say what you read is correct. I have seen many comments about people not being able to loosen it if they waited years to remove it to clean it. I suspect this could happen if you tighten it too much. I believe it would be better to be on the slightly loose side then being too tight.
I'm curious if you've tried using a nanotech shower screen on the machine. thinking of this as an upgrade on mine. I find the stock screen doesn't disperse the water very evenly.
I've considered it but I decided to wait until the black plastic spacer cracks. There is a nice kit on Amazon that includes a better shower screen and a replacement shower screen spacer. Can you provide us feedback if you do this mod? I would be great to know if it helps or not. Thank yoU!
@@CoffeeWiser I've ordered the screen kit from amazon and I do like the brass for heat distribution, I've noticed that it does help with an even water distribution too. so I am quite happy with that quick mod. I'm still trying to find out the service menu password as well as I'm hoping it will show Brew pressures and flow rates. lastly ordered a IMS 18/20g basket which has also has resulted in better shots. the cost on these were cheap enough that it made sense to get at the same time.
I will post a video on descaling on Friday if you can wait that long. The Oracle Touch manual lacks clear information on intervals. I would say that the intervals for descaling depends on the hardness of your water and if you are using a filter in your water tank. Based on the settings you input for your hardness level, the machine should inform you when it is time to descale. I am doing more research to find out the general interval period based on water hardness and filter.
Thank you . I use a Sage filter in the water tank and have never received a message to descale. I wonder whether the filter overrides the messages, but don't want to damage the machine by not descaling . I live in a hard water area. @@CoffeeWiser
Thank you for your feedback. How long have you had the machine? The manual does insinuate that with a water filter, you may not need to descale the machine if you don't notice any scaling: "Even if you used the provided water filter, we recommend you to descale if there is scale build-up in the water tank."
@@dogmaniabb1446 You turn it counter clockwise right? I turned mine counterclockwise when looking at the screen from where the drip tray is. I am sorry you having this problem. You should still be ok if you are running the cleaning cycle once a month with the cleaning tablets. If you are able to remove it, I would really like to know how dirty it is. Thank you.
I've the same problem. Did you manange to unscrew it? If you did, how? I turn counter clockwise and even tried with a drilling machine, but I stopped as I was nervous about stripping the screw...
You are right, the black plastic piece is hard to find. In a thread below, coltsfan50 mentions a very interesting thread about after market screens and spacers. You can find an after market spacer on Amazon (see link below). There is some controversy whether a brass spacer is better or worse with heat retention; I didn't experiment so I don't know, but the brass spacer will never break. Hopefully it will be back in stock soon. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P8JYXD5/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A1SDRICVPE972M&psc=1 Ebay also has the brass piece for sale.

Thank you for posting the video. Did your machine start to have this issue out of the blue? Or was this after descaling? Here are some tips that people posted after their machines malfunctioned after descaling. Some of these may help you. 1. Allow the machine to cool down completely (a few hours). Turn it back on. Make sure fresh water is in the tank, even 1/4 full otherwise the machine will alert you that there's an empty tank. Allow the machine to come up to temperature, and while it's doing so it will refill the boiler tanks. 2. Disconnect the machine open the steam valve wait five minutes make sure all the water is out, close the steam valve.. Then open the other valve, wait a couple minutes to make sure all the water is out, close the valve. Make sure that the machine is cold so wait a good hour before you turn on the machine. Turn on the machine and hopefully you should have your temperature go all the way back up, if this doesn’t work try again, disconnect the machine wait an hour and try again do the same process over. 3. "I did a factory reset and used the hot water button to flush water through (hot water will dispense even if machine is not up to temp. A few unplug/replug and eventually it started working. I just did another descale this past weekend and no time out, but it would not come back up to temp. One unplug cycle resolved it this time." 4. "Put the machine at a 45 degrees to the right, fill the water tank halfway and turn on the machine. You will hear a bit of water being sucked in. Then unplug the machine from the wall for one minute, then repeat the process four times. Then fill the water tank and leave the machine unplugged for a full hour so it cools down. Then turn it on. It should start sucking water and work normally."
