Great video. I recommend going the extra mile and removing the shower screen (needs small Allen key) and gasket for a full clean. These parts can get oily from the coffee beans and the shower screen can get clogged with ground coffee. Just be careful this area and the parts can get hot so best wait until the machine is cooled down.
Thanks for all the videos on the Oracle Touch. You're the one who convinced me it was worth it buying one. And... you were right. I wrote a review here in Switzerland linking your 3 year review. I hope it helps others see if that's the device for them. Keep on with the great work, mate! 👍👍👍
Greetings from Canada and thank you for taking the time to put this video together. Your first video was what convinced me to buy this machine... and your second video is perfect follow up for a newbie coffee maker like me.
Just wanted to add to the chorus of thanks for your Oracle Touch videos. You helped me choose the machine and to get the most out of it once it was here :)
i have a light roast in this machine i had to dial it down to 12 to get a perfect 30 second shot. my mistake was using the manual and starting at 30!! lol 30 must be for dark roasting maybe.
I live in Scotland where the water is very clean. I use a hack for limescale, when you buy a machine, descale your kettle the same day, then watch for any deposits to form, when it does do a run-through descale of both machines. If you live in a hard water area never wait for the machine to tell you to descale as it is probably, already, too late. I use my kettle as a hack and in 10 years it has developed a slight brown stain from peat, the filter will probably perish before I need to change it.
Thanks for that. I'm guessing you have rather soft water? We have pretty hard water, so i change the filter at the 3 month interval, the filters have a hard water ion that helps slow down the calcium build up inside the unit.
Very detailed! Thank you for your time. I'm trying to decide between the breville and a super automatic. I like the more manual process with the breville but both machines require different cleaning techniques. I feel like the fully automatic require more frequent cleaning as the milk is going through the system.
Hi Chris, thanks for the positive feedback. You are correct about the fully automatic systems. Milk is a messy liquid that spoils quickly, to become a life-support for nasty bacteria. IMO you don't want it passing through your machine. Leaving aside the regular maintenance tasks in this video and just considering the clean-up at the end of your daily brew. With the Oracle, you simple wipe the steam wand (it has automatically purged any retained milk), wipe the tray, rinse the brew handle and replace it on the machine. You only put enough milk for the cup/s you are making into your jug so there's no leftover milk to worry about. With an automatic you will need to purge the lines (hopefully removing all milk residue) and decide what to do with with the milk left in the reservoir. Sure you can keep it in the fridge but if you only make a couple of cups a day it will likely go off between days. If you are going to be making a lot of coffees every day, say in a customer service setting, then fully auto is probably your best option but for home use I would strongly recommend a semi-auto like the Oracle. Good luck with your choice ! Mark.
That was great , thank you, straight to the point Any tips on getting the basket out to clean the conical burrs?I physically cannot remove it even after moving all the grinds around it and now The wire has come out of one side of the basket. Any hints will be great.
Hi Paula, thanks for the positive comment. Sometimes there may be still a bit of bean stuck between the burrs and this can make it hard to remove. First thing to do is put the wire back into place (if possible). If not, just remove it completely. You should still be able to rotate the burr by pushing against the metal lugs that the wire pokes into. Next thing to do is back off the grind setting completely, by rotating the knob on the left hand side of the machine anti-clockwise for several turns. Then get your vacuum cleaner and use the crevice tool to vacuum out any bean debris. Next, replace the bean hopper and grind for 5-10 secs. This should dislodge any broken beans that are stuck in the burrs. Remove the hopper and then try again to rotate the top burr anti-clockwise and remove. You may need to repeat replacing hopper and grinding until the troublesome bean is dislodged. Once you have successfully removed the top burr you can replace the wire handle. Hopefully, this gets you out of trouble. Regards, Mark.
Hi Mark thanks for your videos. I am new to this machine but I must say I love it and thanks to you, cleaning it has been a breeze. Just a quick question,do we have to descale the machine. If so have you a video on it?
Hi Judith, thanks for the positive feedback! I'm afraid I don't have a descale video. My water supply is very soft and so I haven't needed to descale my machine. If you search YT I'm sure someone will have a video about it. Good luck and enjoy your coffee!☺
Hi, thanks for the positive feedback! I don't know about the portafilter being compatible with other brands. I have bought a 58mm VST basket and that fits perfectly so I assume others brands of 58mm basket would fit too.
Love the oracle videos I’ve just brought a second hand oracle touch, it is four years old Any tips on what should I be looking for as far as making sure it’s ok? What are your views on getting a service
Thanks David! I would just do a full clean descale if you think it needs it. Run a backflush a few times and make sure no water leaks from the group head. If it does you may need to inspect/replace the shower screen and gasket. Otherwise happy brewing! 😊
Mark very informative and straightforward! With that angled brush that cleans the silicone seal by the group head were you ever concerned it might actually scuff up the silicone seal? Or done without being aggressive would do the trick...? Thanks
Thanks Richard! Actually the seal is very thick and tough. I replaced mine about six months ago. Not because it needed replacement but the water screen was cracked and needed replacement. I decided to replace the seal while I had the brew head dis-assembled. Anyhow, apart from being stained the seal was in perfect shape, after 3.5 years.
Thanks for making these videos. Curious if there was any water came out from the machine itself when you pulled the water tank out around min 11? I’m having that issue, where water comes out about a table spoon from the machine but no drips from the tank itself.
hello congratulations for the channel, I've recently subscribed I would like to ask you if it makes sense to buy a sage touche today (the 1000 euro model) considering the problems of the temperature being too low in past years and if the problem has been solved today, I like it very much this car.thank you very much
Thank you TX. I'm not familiar with the machine you are referring to as I live in Australia. If it is the same model as the one in my video (with a European name) then I can assure you I've had no issues with water temperature. In any case you can program the exact water temperature you require on this machine. Mine shot temp is set to 93 degrees C. If you read all the comments below I don't thing anyone has raised water temperature as being an issue, so maybe you are talking about a different model? Have a great day! Mark.
Good morning Mark! Thank you for taking the time to help all of us newbies with these vídeos. I just purchased my Oracle Touch about 4 days ago and I love it! I have a question, is there a way for me to order the wooden handle and the commercial thingy you use to flatten the coffee? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
@@MarksElectricLife all good Mark. Just got the oracle touch and we are loving it so far. Your videos have been really helpful and informative. Here’s to excellent coffee!
Hi NK, I usually just wipe it out with a wet cloth. You can wash it more thoroughly if you wish but just make sure you give it 24 hours to dry off before replacing it onto the machine. Otherwise you could finish up with sludge in the grinder.
Hi Mike, if you have tested your water supply and it is low in minerals ("soft") then you shouldn't need to descale. That's my situation. I have never descaled and had no issues after nearly 4 years. Your machine should prompt you when it's time to descale, based on the water test result you got when it was new.
There is no way that grinder burr is coming out with that wire handle without breaking something. I’ve tried. It’s stuck in there permanently. Also, no way in heck that tamping wheel is coming off with little magnet. I’ve tried it does not come off my machine.
Do you have a video of descaling your Breville Oracle Touch with all the things that happen during each step. I find Breville's instructions very difficult to follow. Your instructions 's are not. I tried to descale mine and I don't think it went they way it should.
Your videos are way, better than baristas who claim theirself professionals.
Thank you Bettina. You’re very kind!❤️

Yes, when I tested it our water is very soft so I can get away with 6 month filter changes. Not so for everyone unfortunately.

May I ask what kind of water should I use to make the coffee?

How would you clean the top part, that pops up to fill water in. Just bought a used oracle, and it has a lot of calcium in it.
Hi, you could try some vinegar and on a plastic scouring pad (Scotch-brite).

Hey Mark, how tall a cup can fit comfortably? We generally use Bodum double wall glasses that are 11.5cm high? Do you reckon they will fit?
Tray to portafilter is 100mm but you can fit a 120mm cup under by tilting it past the spout. Cheers, Mark.
