- Already heading through chapter 2, you gotta get those levels now than later. Remember you can do this as early as 28! if you really want to, Id say no earlier than level 30 but that's just me.
H’aanit is definitely my favorite character of the game. I believe she’s the most versatile. I gave her the Warrior as a Secondary Job and she’s a beast. 👏🏻

Also, this can easily be done at LV20 or lower. Run through Everhold tunnels there is a very powerful staff you can get in a purple chest. Get any armor that buffs Elem dmg. Then change Cyrus sub class to Cleric for more elemental dmg. Get elemental Aug and percipience. Then, I have two hunters. I chose Tressa for sub hunter, so you have hunter and merchant. At lower lvls you are more likely to miss that's why I have two hunters for arrowstorm. Then change haanit to dancer sub class. And you can easily beat every enemy type in that area. Just for those that wanna try it. I did it at lvl 15. And got to lvl 30 in less than 2 hrs.
Defending put primrose first, you played yourself

Lvl 38-55 - Maw of the Ice Dragon
Dancer, dancer, hunter, scholar
- Hunter uses Arrowstorm - mobs blocks down
- Dancer uses charged Bewildering Dance (cross fingers for EXP X)
- Dancer uses charged Bewildering Dance (cross fingers for EXP X)
- Scholar nukes all mobs
This place also has a 4% chance to spawn Caits.
Rinse and repeat.
Or you could bring Alfyn in @ 1HP & use Last Stand to practically 1HKO them in a single turn, & if that doesn't do it finish them off with your Scholar.

As you said, everyone uses kingfisher but for lower level xp grinding its pretty easy to grind in the King's Tomb outside of stoneguard. Good way to get to level 30. You can find 5 sentinels and break them all at once with Linde's slash or the warior's AOE strike. Will give you a few hunred exp at a time. Its an easy farm so hope it helps

I prefer The Tomb of the Imperator near stillsnow, there are 5 bats that are very easy to beat with Cyrus and they always give you 555 exp plus break exp and you can attempt this in early level 20 even though the tomb is recommended at level 35.

There was no real reason to defend with Primrose during that 1st break. Why not just do a magic attack while they're broken to take off some damage? No reason to wait.
Im currently in my first playthrough and when I discovered this method, it helped me a lot! Thank you! Although I went against the advice of "lv30 party atleast" and could still do well with my part consisting of level 22's and 23's
Wouldn't reccomend it as each fight will push your characters to the edge, sometimes you may need to use some life olives, but after the level 28 mark I figured out a way to clear the battles without being hit (usually)

Honestly, it depends more on your equipment than your levels. Equipment in this game has a far greater affect on you than levels do. Not that levels don't help, they certainly do.
Cyrus is a must have in your party for his spells that can hit twice for huge damage. Equip him with the best armor that provides elemental attack bonus, and buy and equip the wizards rod from the npc in Goldshore. Also, have 1 hunter, 1 healer, and 1 warrior. Warrior can use a thousand spears, hunter uses arrowstorm, healer heals, and cyrus uses lightning blast. Build him up to level 5 attack and just defend with everyone until their attack levels are maxed, then break and zap.
No character is "Necessary" They all pretty much fill any role, while some may be better than others.
There is nothing he can do damage wise that I couldn't achieve with Primrose as a Mage as well.
In fact in lue of fact. A good deal of my playthrough on RUclips was showing different classing to some degree (Granted some jobs never mesh with me no matter how good you tell me they are)
I could grind this out with any combination of character. Only thing that would ever change is class. And that is only 50/50.

I would hazzard to say that Octopath Traveler is very much One of THOSE games. This channel is a JRPG based one and very few rpgs Ive played so far have had a grind quite like this one.

Everyones mileage will vary, I will say you are in a minority.
Honestly as far as RPGS goes this game is easily one of the worst when it comes to balance.
The game goes from playable to brickwall as fast as a teenage looking at porn.
@@Resobaso Yeah, this is pretty much what stopped me from playing.
Battles take forever and reward you with pocket change in return. Even the first area, the one you start with your traveler in, has you grinding for literal hours just to afford one piece of gear, which doesn’t even help you that much.
I got through all of chapter 3 with 7 characters at level 40. Some were below that when I started chapter 3. What’s the need for this grinding?
Primrose or therion as a hunter can break both enemies in 1 turn with arrowstorm. If you can get to grandport you can grab the knowledge staff and golden axe to take out the kingfishers at lvl 20ish, with a pretty good success rate. Just reset if it doesn't work out.
Break the kingfishers on turn 1
Donate BP to Cyrus so he can max at the end of turn 1
Alfyn (or another apothecary) at low hp (let him die and revive him with a cleric so he's at 1 hp) use the axe skill that hits all and does more at lower hp
Cyrus x4 lightning
Both should die. Repeat until Cyrus is strong enough you don't need alfyn to be low anymore.
