- I believe Terraria players often speed run the game and never take their time on their worlds. I want to change that. So, over the course of a year I will be playing on this world with each stage of progression being blocked until the start of a new month. Listed below are the progression locks I'll be facing on this journey and come next December we'll finally defeat the final boss!

Fun and usefull fact: in normal ocean you may find "???".
Its a real monster and with 1/3 chance it dropes a really good item.
But at the same time , its a summon for a hardmode boss in prehardmode.
You wont probably defeat it...
But trying it out as a chalenge in pre hardmode might be lots of fun.
+it isnt disrupting progression , because you probably not getting past the final phase.

what item does "???" drop? i know Anahita & Leviathan has a 10% chance to drop Community and i mustve killed "???" 20 times grinding that out but it never dropped anything

I truly like this series. Especially the ending which was very unexpected. I am an atheist, but I am aware that many people believe in Christian God and they will celebrate this time. This kind of segment reminds me of respect towards others' faith, religion, point of view, etc.
I would like to see it more often, also towards different religions.

Dungeon guardian is immune to debuffs but skeletron can be debuffed, some debuffs can deal crazy daytime damage

Late comment, but there is a craftable item that stops voodoo demons from spawning entirely, called "Voodoo Demon Voodoo Doll". There is a few more "spawn blocker" items added by Calamity, they might be handy in the future.

I like the fact, that you do some silly things like killing "Skeletron-Dungeon Guardian" or some 300k health fish.
It reminds me of a Polish streamer "Gucio" who spent 29 hours to defeat a side boss that is quite hard in the late game, but he did it in the early stage of the gameplay on the highest difficulty :D
That shift to live commentary is always so jarring in the best way possible. Chill narration regarding plans, then BOOM! unhinged hilarious reactions, mic peaking, and some of the best nonsense I have heard.

Mosses that did not naturally spawn in a world can be obtained by putting any Glowing Moss in an Extractinator, which produces regular mosses; or a Chlorophyte Extractinator, which produces all variants of mosses. So not in a while, good luck.
I used to speedrun terraria, and after hitting I think #10 years ago, I would love to try this formula in vanilla. Modded T has become a bit overwhelming with the overlap of Van items and Mod items.

As for the Bunnies, uh, just farm them in a Town. Mobs won't spawn in an area with 3 or more NPCs, but Bunnies and other animals can.
I tried that but none were spawning. I think the castle it too large. Ended up only really finding them in the very small space between the far wall and cave

Hey! For the people that doesnt know if you have gold ore and next to one of the crimson or corruption alter you can craft it into platinum ore only in calamity and other mods!!!!
This works for the other ore as well.

For an idea on how to fight future bosses, intentionally not using an arena would be interesting. Fighting plantera in narrow jungle tunnels, fighting the duke underwater, that kind of thing.

Here are some reasons you wouldnt want pirahnas raining from the sky in this playthrough:

When i saw Throarb start making the hellevator after finding the lab with the onyx excavator i was a little heart broken. Also I know its a month late and people have probably already mentioned it but if you do a little jiggle side-to-side you can basically mine downwards with the excavator. Really good for post-hardmode biomes and making a hellevator.
I'm not sure if you already did but you should add the calamitusic mod since it fits in quite nicely and is really well made
cant wait to binge this entire series, next you should do calamity's infurnium or fargo's eternity (they are harder so you'll have more stuff to do especially with bosses). also i love the way that in the stream clips your mic just clips out when you talk/scream to loud, like when you killed the dungeon gaurdian it was pretty funny when the mic was just doing the thing

The Spiffo plush comes from Project Zomboid, dev'd and pub'd by The Indie Stone on Steam. Spiffo is basically the mascot for Project Zombiod. It has a less than 0.08% chance to drop from Zombies and Raincoat Zombies.
And yes, it's a vanilla Terraria drop, not a Calamity one. The Terraria devs love shouting out other indie games!

You can buy clouds and many other useful blocks at the architech npc btw (Also u can use battlecry for spawn rates)
Pretty sure the architech is not in base Calamity

Onyx drill isnt great verticaly , But Broken Biom Blade(prehardmode calamity sword) set on "desert" mode , lets you pogo around using it. Even if you are mounted.
You may see where am i going with this.
Using this sword you can pogo-jump while mining with onyx drill and it is incredibly fast and destructive , while not requiring any money to execute.
I really recomend doing this for large-scale ecscavasions.

I'm doing a Challenge with a friend, prehardmode gear only. We turned the right side of the world into an ocean, like from the ocean floor to the top of the world so we could use the shark mounts. You better believe we used pumps to pump water from the left side of the world to the right.
I used pumps to build a glass dome and house under the ocean, there's no way I'm doing fishing quests for something that can easily be done with the engineer npc and iron

I'll tell you this, Slime God is a reinforced titanium roadblock when you're doing a No-Potion-No-Arena run on Master Revengeance
20:00 demon altar/crimson altar can turn specific items into their other version like rotten chunk, and ores and bars
*tl;dr - "Yeah, pumps used to be pretty common (dupe-vats) but not anymore" / a 'brief' history of liquids / a 'less'-brief history of motivation for players to spread out in their new worlds*
There *were* plenty of videos with pumps back in the day, before all the bottomless buckets were made. It was pretty common for an LP-er to have 3 vats (one for each liquid at the time) with a pump on the bottom, a pump on the top, and some method of duplicating the liquid in between. Usually it was just three sizable rectangles that were big enough to allow for the duplicating process. But sometimes they were designed to look like Water Towers, Beakers, giant Cups, and stuff like that.
Even though you only actually used the lava and honey pools a few times after building them, they were just one of the things you did somewhere in a long-form world, mostly for the clout. You built them generally off-screen from your main spawn too, because they weren't exactly pretty builds. But it was cool to see them as you'd run by, on your way from your main base off to one of your side arenas, or any special builds you felt like doing this time around. (-)
When they added bottomless water buckets via the angler; that was nice, but people still built their dupe-towers since they wanted unlimited lava and honey available, and of course there was still the clout. When they added a bottomless lava bucket, these endless-liquid builds became less common to see, since you could now have the two liquids people mostly wanted to use all you wanted. Then, later, when they added the bottomless honey bucket, there was hardly any need for the vats at all anymore. Now the main use for pumps is to try and get your shimmer to somewhere else in your world.
(-) There's a reason Red implemented the pylon system...
Heavily centralized bases (often boring towers, apartments, or hotels) with just a few arenas built up around the world were basically what people built - unless they were build-specialist, like Khaos is, these days. There were usually arenas near(-ish) to: spawn for invasions and most progression-bosses, the dungeon for Skeletron, bee hives for Queen Bee fights, the jungle temple entrance in hopes that Plantera bulbs would spawn there, the corruption, and much later in development the crimson.
It wasn't until Angler was introduced that regular players even looked at other biomes, and even then it was just for fishing holes (built or found). But at least people would occasionally build a fishing hut or some structure nearby to protect them from mobs - OR, people would just build massive watering areas where they could walk a few steps one way or another and get all the biomes in one fishing area, but that's another story for another post 😉.
Anyways, Red (and the other devs) got to work on finding a way to encourage people to spread out, and build more than just jail-cell towers at middle spawn. The answer ultimately ended up being Pylons, and the associated NPC-happiness system that came with it, discouraging you from having certain NPC near others, so you couldn't just put all your least favorites off to the sides.

See, I actually really don't like slime god's soundtrack. For the one year series I generally try to keep a specific vibe as opposed to using the "proper" music for each thing. It's just the style I'm going for, but for other runs I'll often do the boss's music. I also don't use it here because often times the boss fights are not talked about for very long.

Holding any weapon other than a whip or summoning staff while using summons will drastically nerd your damage into the dirt, cause the devs don't believe in fun.

When you fish in a bloodmoon you can get a lot of bloodorbs, at least in the laterparts of the game
calamity does change skeletron btw. But you have to play death mode

That dungeon is actually very similar to the one in my very first world, so I personally think it looks rather normal.
Death mode increases spawn rates, which is why it seemed like the Zerg and bloodmoon didn’t do much
