Compared to the previous iterations of AEC, that would be a doddle to drive, it will have the luxury of power steering, they were a bit heavy without it…. Only a few gears to play tunes on if doubling the clutch went wrong!
    Lovely old truck.

I have heard that due to no heater , the drivers were issued with a razor blade to scrape the ice off the air guage in a morning to enable the driver to know when the brakes were able to work . earlier models had an external radiator cap that when removed provided hot water to shave in on a cold frosty morning . .....lovely .

Haven’t seen all over this truck. With its history presumably low mileage. Living accommodation on the back, you can take this AEC anywhere. Ideal for commercial vehicle rally’s.

Love the expression proper lorry Yes you do have to now how to drive something like that no offence but not many new hgv drivers could jump in and take it away always wanted to drive an AEC never got the chance. Would have been nice to see inside cab but still enjoyed it

It is indeed a Mammoth Major built at Southall but Leyland bought out AEC in 1962 so in a way it is both.

If your into trucks it's perfect, you could convert it into a camper without changing a thing on the outside

I drove these back in early 60s. Manual steering, very heavy when loaded. Slow, 150 hp 6 gears. Extremely noisy in cab. Poor brakes. Stifling hot in Summer. Poor heater, freezing in Winter. Bone shattering ride quality. I hated it. Nostalgia is just a dream..

That's an AEC, designed and built by AEC, not Leyland. Very unprofessional and lacking in commercial vehicle knowledge to call a pure AEC a Leyland AEC, completely unheard-of in the trade.
