what a lovely show of old lorries from the 1970s 0r before mind you most of them were very old I think 1960s .? but still with watching this you tube going to pass on to acquaintance .
20:17 I remember seeing loads of the Hoveringham Foden S21's around London in the 1960s, when I use to go with my dad in his truck delivering around the London area
Love all the Foden 8 leggers, and that's the first Hoveringham I have ever seen for real. Thx 👍 That 4WD transit from 1983 was a pretty rare thing as well.
I was there attending the model truck festival for the first time so didn't get to see all that much of these. I must also say that your camera work is excellent. Far too often I see videos like these where the camera is either wobbling all over the place or zooming in or out at all the wrong moments! Well done.
Sights and sounds of my childhood growing up then my career! Far better than the sterile computer controlled nonsense today but then that’s progression I guess. Thank you for sharing.
Great Video, nice to see a Video of Trucks I would see when I was in School & my dad worked afternoons for Bass Charrington driving his 32 ton Artic, I use to go with him after school 4 days a week in the later 70's in his 1974 Scammell Handyman with a RR 220 Engine, Wonder if there is any Bass Units on the Vintage Commercials Circuit, Superb Atkinson at 10.09 with a Sought after Cummins Engine, Sounding just like they use to 10/10.
That's cool! So many of those I had as Matchbox, Dinky, and Corgi toy cars when I was a kid in the 60's. The Ford cement truck, and the orange dump truck that said Hoveringham on the side really made me smile.
I liked the Blue Star Line container, I used to use that long-since defuct British shipping company to bring back meat from South America. The compnay was owned by the Vestey familly, who unsurprisingly also owned Dewhursts the Butcher. One of the ports they loaded at was Fray Bentos,in Uruguay !
...question for y'all... ...do these old trucks...and other coaches busses etc...require tax /plating/mot...or are they exempt as are other vehicles over 40 years old...
Thank you for showing these vintage lorries. I’m 66 now and it’s great watching all the different lorries I’ve travelled in with my father as a child. My favourite at that time and still is, is the Commer Maxiload. Just love the sound of the 2 strokes.
i tuck my class1 in a Scania or Volvo when i was a shunter on the buses didnt need a class 1 on the buses i wanted my hgv class one and i did it on a course so i did mine a long time a go me and one of the lads done it cat he was called i got class 123 at the same time
What a nice parade! Many of the brands are relatively unknown outside the UK in Europe, but it's nice to learn how many brands there existed in the UK, sadly almost all gone now. The old Fodens and Atkinsons are some of the visually more pleasing examples, as do the Foden S20/S21 and Commer TS3 two strokes for the ears. The Bedford TK and the Ford models were the most common British trucks here in the Netherlands. The Volvo F88 is the truck which I remember the most as a haulier at the end of the street where I lived as a child had a large fleet of these, starting from the early chrome grille models. But also the Mack R series I do remember, a local single owner-operator in our neighbourhood had a 4x8 dumper, but with three trailing axles and not the double front steer which was so common in the UK. Not seen in the video but another company nearby then had Fiat 682 N3/N4 tractor units.
When trucks where trucks 🚛 a lot of memories with me going in the wagon with my dad and seeing these wagons on there way to a show respect to you for this footage 🫶🤝🙏
I sat in a foden Exactly the same which had been left at the side of a road when you enter Kent county council yard and I struggled to even get in the cab 🤣

The Lesney's Matchboxes came to life!!!
was about to comment same thing! Specially at 20:20
An impressive collection of lorries and vans. Some of them reminds me of the Dinky Toys I use to have in my youth in the '50ties.
Us old farts with a bad back from fixing them .
When I was a child, I had the Matchbox version of the truck at 20:18, also the thumbnail. Around 1969 or so. Thank you.

That 4X4 Transit was the bollox.
Kinda neat seeing the really old trucks, knowing that none of them had 300hp back in the day.
20:05 This one has a 2-stroke engine, most likely a Commer TS3. Same as the one at 20:16.
5:18 I saw this truck coming down Reigate hill on its way home.
10:46 British Coal

If only all work cars from all eras were preserved.
Meu amigo... Que beleza de vídeo com vários exemplares!!! Saudações do Brasil 🇧🇷💪
Having just passed my test in 1972 I delivered four brand new big Orange scammel 8 wheelers to Hoveringham.Thought I was king of the road !!
I own several of these trucks. Mine are around 2 inches long and say Matchbox on their bottoms.

The thumbnail looks like the Mammoth car!
😂
Люди в то время умели рисовать и творить, теперь же никакой фантазии , тем более в отечественной авто отрасли, все однотипное и одноцветное.
British classic leyland its very happy to vew from india
And driving them.
Used to drive a mickey mouse when i was 17 at the pit stocking yards to learn truck driving.
There really is something for everyone. The old English material with its sometimes bizarre shapes but also the fine lettering is simply great!
ERF-В Тамбовской области есть такой тягач в работе
I drove a couple of different Foden haulmaster over a number of years ♥️❗
As if the Matchbox Kingsize catalogue had come to life .. 20:16
