If I think you did an okay job? I think you did a terrific job!! I wish I could give you triple-thumbs up for such lovely, clear detailed videos. And this one was no exception. Thank you Jen. :-)
@SewingMachineRehab I can tell.. I think sewing machines are just amazing in what they do.. I also can't believe that they aren't worth alot more... I subscribed to your channel.. You definitely know what you are doing.. Have a good day today luv. Peace.. Rolfie
Great job, enjoyable and helpful, it’s so fun learning how these wonderful old beauties were made and how they work, thanks for your effort in this video, soooo helpful, Dr
Yay! Great job! Working on editing the next video, hopefully it will be up in a couple of days. It is complicated until you do it once or twice, keep up the good work!
Excellent video. Thank you so much. I'd like to ask about the needle bar and pressure bar. You said never to polish them length wise but to polish around the circumference, why os that? Thank you.
Hi! Yes, the grain on the bars originally goes around, not up and down. If you polished them up and down you would be going against the grain and it wouldn't look very nice. It's just the way they were originally brushed/polished. I hope that helps!
Fabulous job, your explanations are so logical and easy to follow. Can I ask, is the needle bar supposed to be really tight going back into the bushing. I had to use a tiny hammer and lever, using tiny gentle taps to get mine out and it seems to be really rough inside the bushing and VERY tight to get the needle bar back in. I have cleaned the bar and there are no rough spots on it. I would really appreciate your input, thanks so much :)
Hi, thank you for your kind words! It sounds like your needle bar may be slightly bent. I would have to see it to be sure. You can try rolling it on a very flat, even surface to tell. You may be able to fix it or you may need to find a new one on eBay. Without examining your needle bar and machine it would be hard for me to say for sure. Wish I could be of even more help!
@@SewingMachineRehab You are right, there is the slightest kink in the middle. Probably not recommended, but I have my husband, who is a mechanic, on the job. He is very finely filing the needle bar down with the finest sandpaper, so it goes in easier . He says it works on car engines, so can't see any reason why it won't work here lol. It feels like he is nearly there, just the slightest resistence in one spot, so I am going to let him keep going. I feel that if there is no wobble and it travels up and down without resistance, it can't do any harm. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, it is greatly appreciated. I'll let you know how we go. thanks again :)
@@SewingMachineRehab very happy to report that we managed to get it all back together, (after watching your video's) and she is running smoothly. I am now working on the base and cover and once i have finished, will share pics. Thank you again, your video's are fabulous :)
Help! I took the hand wheel off my mums old singer. I undid the screw and wound it off and that was fine. I didn’t take notice of which way the little washer went on and I must have put it on the wrong way and so now I can’t take it off to fix it. The needle bar just keeps going up and down and I can’t loosen or tighten the stop motion knob. Does it mean I’ll never be able to,fix it now? 😮
Oh no! I would need to see the parts you are talking about to offer some help. I am sure you can fix it though. Feel free to email me pictures to jen@sewingmachinerehab.com
Hi! There are some models of 99’s that have more than one reverse screw. I am not sure my late 99 has both (can’t remember right now) Hopefully the future videos help you get unstuck, working on them now!
@@SewingMachineRehab I am looking forward to them, I realized I also have an early model in rougher shape but I dare not take it apart till I get the other one back together 😁
Excellent video! Thank you for the detailed instructions!
Thank you! It is coming together quickly!

😅 I’m going through and get to the reverse screw part and I have 2 reverse screws and realize I need to wait for the late model videos.
