Enjoyed your video, lots of great pix. thanks! Long been a Martha Hyer fan. Always looking out for one of her many movies that I still haven't seen. As beautiful as she was, I think it was her great voice, which seemed to combine seductiveness with a sense of neurotic urgency, that made her unique and especially memorable. She was right to have cried when she lost the Oscar--she'd deserved it. Today is June 7th and TCM is showing Some Came Running this afternoon, with Martha's signature role as Gwen French. Catch this wonderful film if you haven't seen it!
Yes, I always remember her as Jennie Denton in the Carptebaggers. Especially the scene where she meets Jonas in his office in that black dress and hat. Stunning!
Nice to see that she lived to the age of 89. That is only tragic if we expect the average lifespan for all of us to be 100, but this is not the case and perhaps will not ever be seen as the normal longevity for human beings.
Always felt she never got her due, Some came Running is probably her most famous film. She is also in the early science fiction film Raiders to the Stars I believe made in 1954. Also look fast for a very young james best.
my friend i am very sorry for you you were not born in yhe fifties you missed all the magic movies and actors and actress look for her quikly in mister cory 1957 and thank me
very good that was the movie that made her famous co starring with tony curtis in one of his best movies when i adored him in the fifties what a couple rip
I'm sorry please learn to tell these bios in some kind of order/time line your all over there place. One minute your talking about her retirement then the next you back in the 50s. As for her she was beautiful but come off very flawed like most actors.
She never took a bad picture. She was a gorgeous lady. RIP.
Martha Hyer was very beautiful and brilliant. I love her role in “Showdown at Abilene”.
Totally under-rated. She always came in 2nd. In film's but she was no.1 in my book.

She was beautiful, yes, but a very fine actress. I’ve seen her in films where the other actors basically phoned it in, but she gave 100%!
I graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Ft Worth TX also. I knew the school was old, but had no idea it was that old. RIP Mrs. Hyer.
Allways thought she was real beauty,my condolences to the family

The millions of dollars of debt couldn't have been too fun.

She was delightfully camp in “My Man Godfrey” ; possibly not what she was aiming for but that term wasn’t used then.

So she has to be in high heels, even when relaxing by the pool? I've known women like that. Does terrible things to the feet.
Martha was also in the birds with suzanne pheshette.
@davidgonzales
Martha H. wasn't in The Birds.
I think you must have her confused with
Tippi Hedron.
You do such a terrible job on each of your time lines. Your just mailing theses in for a check.
