    Hi, Trauma nurse for 34 yrs. I think the “smelling salts “ was Narcan. It’s frequently used when people are found down without knowing the reason. It quickly reverses an OD. It also will do no harm if it’s not an OD. It’s also protocol to keep oxygen on a person even after they are revived.
    I once had to do CPR on a plane for 35 min till we landed. This was in the days before AEDs. I was calm till it was over. Everyone should have CPR training.

    The “panicking” from the staff is what you’re taught to do in a stressful situation. Everyone thinks someone else will do it, and no one takes charge. You’re trained to take charge and start telling people what you need. Like in a car wreck. Tell this person to call 911…that person to get you blankets…that person to help you directly, etc. Sounds like they handled it well. Hope that woman is ok. :(

    • @supersparkley123
      @supersparkley123 9 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, I agree…it’s in the training to delegate because everyone automatically assumes someone else will take charge in an emergency situation.

    I was in the ER with heart failure for 24 hours one time and a guy next to me flatlined and needed cpr, chest compressions and was shocked. All curtains were pulled and I didn't see anything but with the chaos and amount of people it was easily the most intense moment of my life, it left me in tears. They did get him back.

    As someone who deals with OCD, it always gets worse when I'm under a lot of stress but also in new or uncomfortable situations. It seems perhaps Abbies kicked up gradually since starting her vocational program. Eventhough its great for Abbie it could be causing her some stress or anxiety in some way. Of course you know ur daughter way more than me clearly but perhaps something to think about in the timeline

    • @fatheringautism
      @fatheringautism  9 месяцев назад +14

      That would make sense but she definitely enjoys the program. She’s always ready, willing, and eager to go. She’s not one to fake it if she doesn’t like something. That doesn’t mean it isn’t a higher stress situation for her but she does like it.

      I definitely enjoy new things and at the same time they induce stress reactions in me and it frustrates me to no end. I had started a new job that I loved so much yet my ocd kicked up so bad I needed meds temporarily. Human body is has some mysterious reactions. I hope you find answers bc it's no fun for us to be driven by compulsion. I think you all are fabulous and have helped me so much raising my grandson. Ty

I jumped out of bed and rushed to her aid. I saw things I never thought I would see. It takes time to recover from the shock and trauma you experienced. That would probably stop her from being able to mess with the plugs . It wouldn’t hurt to check them out. You can probably get them at Home Depot or even Lowes if you have on in your area even Walmart might carry them in the Baby section . My granddaughter is 5 and she likes playing with my outlet’s plugin things in and unplugging things so i use those outlet covers and they work awesome

    Cpr is mainly 30 chest compressions then check the breath then repeat. They don't even do the breaths anymore.

    That is really scary! Coming home from a trip we haven't even left the gate and there was a family a few rows back one of the family members was unwell. They talked to the flight attendant and they ended up leaving the plane.

    On the fake Christmas tree have u considered zip tying the lights to the tree, then simply unplugging the them when ready to take the tree down. Would save ya'll some time and steps in the future. Just a thought.

    My daughter and I were walking down a street in new york when we saw a woman sitting on the ground having a panic attack. Her friends were trying to help her but I noticed the cell phones start to come out so I grabbed my daughter and another person and we created a wall so they couldn't film her. After she started to come out of it I bent down and asked if she was OK and if I could get her anything. She said no thanks she was ok. I explained to her why we had surrounded her and she thanked us for doing that. I just can't understand why anyone would feel the need to film someone having a panic attack. If your not going to help then move on and mind your own business.

    Outlet cover cord shortening
    The picture shows a cover covering up two outlets with two plugs plugged in and the cord from the plugs wrapped around inside if the cord is too long. Home Depot

    You could buy covers for the electrical outlets so Abbey can't unplug things.

    The panic is real! I worked for an elementary school giving extra help in kindergarten classrooms, and one of my students stopped breathing on me (Probably an asthma attack but we didnt know that till later.) That was the scariest moment of my life trying to figure out if he was choking or what. He was able to still wheeze a little air in and ended up being ok, but that took me out for the rest of the day. I pretty much blacked out for almost an hour, didn't go to the next class I was supposed to help in, and turns out I sat in my boss's office for abour 30 minites staring at a wall. I dont remember anything till later when i was helping another class with a small group and snapped at them pretty bad and had to apologize and tell them I was having a rough day. It was crazy, unlike any other feeling. I hope that lady is ok!

    My brother took a CPR class just because . Years later he had a horrible bicycle accident and a wonderful women got help basically saving his life . For years he wondered why / how he was alive after that . One day he noticed a man at his work wasn’t breathing and did CPR until medics could come . The man survived and came in to thank my brother . I told my brother THAT was why you survived .. so that one day he could save that man’s life

    Have you tried the locks for the cords/outlets?
