    I have been a connoisseur of RUclips tennis instruction for years. Your instructional methods have improved my backhand in months more than years of trying various things from other RUclips instructors as well as private lessons. Your video instruction is not only concise but is the best instruction I have watched to date.

    You're the only yt coach who's pointed out the importance of the 'L'. And it is a very important. This has been on my backhand checklist for decades. I'm not sure it 'give you topspin' - there is no physics or biomechanics to support that theory - but what it does give you is far more stability against slight mishits, slightly off sweetspot contact etc. The topspin comes from the Eastern or Eastern+ grip, angle face and partial upward vector through the contact zone. You have a smooth, beautiful and technically perfect backhand (I particularly love the way you keep your head down, eyes on the spot, that fraction of a second after contact - a la Roger - to protect against 'lifting off' during contact).

    Thank you for making another video that reiterates how to hit a one handed back hand. A lot of videos tell u “how” to hit and tries to sound so technical but you are giving the best and simple advice. Having that wrist position in the L makes a biggest difference in the world. After knowing this I am so critical of others when I see them try to hit a one handed backhand. Watch any pro and rewind in slow motion, they hold stable on their wrist until after the follow through and it makes it look like they are flicking their wrist. Thanks for taking your time explaining on this topic over and over. It never gets old because a lot of people will still get it wrong.

    I agree with the L at the beginning and the end, but to truly get a lot of topspin you need to be a bit looser at contact & in fact not worry so much about what happens at contact. It's quite ok if the racquet head drops below the ball just before contact as long as it happens naturally as you pull forward. L at the load phase & L at the end but "let go" in between

    Hey coach, one question, why is the change here comparing with the forehand where always all we hear is be lose and let the raquet do the work, here we need to have tension in the arm, wrist and hand until after contact, wouldnt that slow down the hit?

      U got that instruction from another video huh? Once you get your position in the pocket and ready to release with your non dominant hand, have it slight 45 degrees facing the ground but have that wrist stable in the L and make contact with the ball. Brush up on it once u make contact. It’s gonna take a lot of practice before u can consider trying to load up on it. I got to the point now that I’m loading up with my hips to generate power and by adding more weight to my racquet head. Best way to practice is having someone feed u balls or a machine. Dont try hitting rallies with a friend. It’s gonna be hard to time it by rallying.

    Your swing mechanics and positioning are immaculate. I disagree with some of your reasons - I have a masters in engineering and know these things! - but what you do and what you teach are excellent. So, actually, the reasons are secondary if the tuition is spot on.....

    Most of the coaches have this high head technique. But, pro players have two tyoes of techniques. Players like Federer, Gonzalez use this high head contact technique. Players like Stan, Gasquet don't use this technique. Federer mix of both. But, I i don't think you can attack the week low balls in this technique. It idmosre of a deference technique.

    Doctor in this tutorial I dont agree with your concept of keep the head of the racket above the rist at contact point.Simply copy at the Master, Mr.Roger Federer and you will see what do you must do in order to execute a good one handed backhand.

  • @adsaviation

    Sorry, but I can't agree with this as it's looking like you are using your arm like a 4by4, the wrist drop just before the hit will give it a whip effect, less stress on arm and elbow. Getting it under the ball is creating spin😊

      No you must be blind. Watch it in slow motion. Wawrinka or RF. They don’t compromise their wrist until after making contact with the ball. Their arm and wrist are in an L shape and straight on their follow thru. They drop their wrist after hitting the ball. This guy is showing n giving u the best advice on how to hit a one handed backhand. You are definitely one of the people that gets fooled in real time

    Your topspin is mediocre…why don’t you measure your rpm! Face sends it and path bends it. Therefore, your approach does not produce “massive” topspin.

    Sorry to burst your bubble, but what you said is not correct. When you hit very low ball your "racket is never above your wrist at the contact point" , yet you can hit with topspin. Look at player with one handed backhand hitting low balls. As long as you hit from low to high you generate spin, no matter where your wrist is positioned.

    • @FMD023
      @FMD023 Год назад

      BS. The way he teaches how to hit a one hander actually makes sense and true. Wstch how Wawrinka and RF hits their backhand in slow motion. Wrist and arm is straight until after contact with the ball.
