Why is it that in your own one handed backhand you swung low to high on every backhand. You don’t say what you do!! Your demonstration is always much better that your explanation!
Having watched a few videos, I now get this guy’s angle. He’s simply a click-baiter. His schtick is to say “NEVER do X”, where X is one of the fundamentals that probably all coaches teach and all the pros do, and is therefore baffling to read. Unfortunately, it’s a dishonest tactic because he must know it’s not true. He says NEVER in the title and then in the video explains to emphasise it less. That’s just dishonest.
I've found his tutorials to be very helpful and they've massively improved my strokes on both the forehand and backhand. My forehand was total garbage until I stopped scuffing up the back of the ball with a big swing. Now I get ready much more effectively and punch through the ball and I'm actually getting more spin and way more depth because I'm getting more bite on the ball. My forehands are a joy to hit now and my backhand is getting better too.
@@desy2478 I’m glad the videos have helped for you but that’s actually a different point. My point is that he uses clickbait titles that don’t turn out to be true, which I think is a dishonest tactic
@@EmperorsNewWardrobe Yea I get you. I guess I just take the titles with a little pinch of salt. I'm just happy one of the recent videos helped my forehand more than a lot of expensive coaching so I'm a happy camper.
@@desy2478 I simply resent clickbait because it’s deceptive. I initially thought he was sincerely making arguments for the claims in his titles, but it turns out they aren’t true so I feel deceived by the false advertising
The thing about low to high is that it teaches beginners to swing while adding topspin for every ball (not considering slices obviously). But the thing is, the more advanced you become, the more you realize the importance of actually pushing the ball forward, otherwise you'll be hitting balls with very little pace.
super, never tired of have detail of one hand. The most difficult, its when u get a fast ball , and u dont have time, maybe for fix need be more athletic, or to use saber one hand 2017 Federer,
You say don't swing low to high, but if you mark your hand height at it lowest point and your had height at its highest point, there is a low to high movement. In all you live swings, you swing low to high. Sorry, but we must swing to low to high on all topspin groundstrokes and that is an indisputable fact. How does the ball leave the string bed with topspin without an upward movement of the strings at contact? It is impossible to hit topspin without upward movement of the strings at contact.
He doesnt say, dont swing low to hight, he says that you ALSO need to drive through. He just emphasises the drive through as that is what he thinks is the correct model to have in your head when your swinging. If people had a tendency to swing horizontally he would say swing low to hight, but thats not what he is seeing, so thats not what he is saying :)
You are low and the arm makes a half circle down up automatically while extending, contacting the ball above its center of mass if your racketface has a correct angle for that. That tangential contact creates the spin. The tips here are correct and essential to achieve that. The wrist rolling you might see is a result after the ball has gone. It is individual and situational dependent, but no building block. And the important thing with getting up is, that you are doing it right if you feel your armswing pulls you up at arm extension , not you first getting up and the arm follows. So of course the ball is being hit low to high in the end, but not by actively seeking that out with body or wrist, like one would think, because it doesn’t work.
@@FollowFunk In a nutshell yes. If you hit into the net the racquet was not low enough at its lowest point (circle flattened) or you overdid the closing or swung to slow for that closing. It is actually good for learning to try some extremes.
There is almost no rotation with the body after swinging. creating speed and pressure shots with this tecnique hard. outswinging the major part for every shot.

While I agree with what you are trying to say, the reality is that there is low to high on virtually every backhand. I realize you are trying to get views with a catchy title but how about a catchy title that isn’t just plain wrong? “Swing through your backhand, don’t try to brush up the back of the ball” would be a legit title. Topspin backhand of course. Slice is high to low.
@@EmperorsNewWardrobe Sorry, I view this criticism as petty and obnoxious. This is largely a question of semantics. Lot of times, one has to be dramatic and even exaggerate to get a point across. It is not a cause for a proverbial slap in the face.

Dropping/bending the wrist is an entirely different issue than swinging low to high. I used to enjoy your videos but man this instruction is entirely wrong. Hitting a drive will be less low to high, but it will still be low to high. If you want to loop the ball, you will hit a lot low to high. Just depends on the kind of shot.

Body low, and body not going up until the ball is gone (for stability) and staying sideways eyes on the ball.
