The latest from Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland's Squanch Games, this irreverent, absurd shooter manages to shine with its outrageous humor, silly setting, and some really goofy, foul-mouthed guns that pull the whole thing together. Combat is a bit sloppy, especially during the first act, and the whole sci-fi adventure sometimes has an unpolished feel to it, but once you get some more tools of destruction and movement options, it rises to the occasion.
Lol that 10 knocked out to 8 is so adequate to the spirit of this game

Game made me feel like a kid again. Haven’t felt this way playing a game since the original Ratchet and Clank. So much personality, so much franchise potential.
That was exactly my sentiment. HOL reminded me of playing the first ratchet and clank (the most atmospheric in the series).

im really hoping we get some dlc packs with new weapons, bounties, locations etc because this game is amazing!

A game hasn't made me laugh for the right reasons in a long time. This is great.
the guy selling vials is the first game in a long time to get a belly laugh out of me as it was so unexpected, then gets pissed with you for asking for me more.

@@goby1764 Just started it. The intro video game dialogue had me laughing. Not sure how anyone could not find that funny, but then again, very little makes me laugh these days, so maybe I'm the weird one.
Why is no one mentioning the fact that the level designs, details (interior and exterior) is better than most AAA games today. Feels like a believable world
graphics insane in this game, felt like 100 million dollar budget game.
not even that but the audio choice for each level is such a piece of art
@@DBCKIAN yeah but when multiple characters are talkig at the same time theres litterally no failsafe for that kinda thing so. Both or more characters are speaking at the same volume at the same time. Makes it impossible to enjoy it sometimes.
I'm loving the game so far and It actually does what videogames are supposed to do: giving us a great time!

Best IGN review in a long time! respect! This game is a breath of fresh air and not for everyone but those saying it’s terrible need to get over themselves
A consistent theme I've seen mentioned in a lot of reviews is the constant weapon chattering. Most reviewers are complaining about this, but early on in the game there is a prompt that says YOU CAN TURN IT OFF... Gah. Enjoying the game so far.

It’s the most fun I’ve had gaming in years, so different and a joy to play, can’t wait to go back and make different decisions and hear different dialogue.

I'm like 2 hours in, and man, it's sooo funny, just picking between the red guy and the blue guy, worths every cent.
Spot on review, I'm a couple of hours into the game and while it's got it's issues I'm having a lot of fun playing it!

It's is IGN. They gave Alien Isolation a 6 and then this gets a 10. There's a reason they're a laughing stock.

Only 3 hours in so far, but in personally enjoying the game. The writing hits for me, even if it is a bit over board. Definitely been a pretty divisive game.

Can’t stop playing I’m having so much fun exploring the words and doing the story. Im only on my 4th bounty and so far they have been so much fun. Lastly it’s fantastic how this game is on game pass.
Im speculating we either get a second game or a Dlc where we have to deal with Dr. Gurgula
If High On LIfe gets a sequel, i'd love to see more types of Guns and living weapons like Knifey.
A Machine Gun or Bazooka Gatlian would be really cool. Maybe we could even visit Knifey's planet and pick up more melee living weapons, like a short sword or a Katana.

The humor inside the game with the writing is awesome. The arsenal designs are giving me design reminders from Aardman’s Creature Comforts, Comedy Central’s Crank Yankers and the Hubba Bubba and Apple Jacks commercials from the 2000s.

This game is so, visually beautiful and engaging
I've enjoyed what I've played so far to be prepared to wait for a patch that will hopefully mean the performance issues aren't quite so jarring. Definitely one of the most enjoyable gaming surprises this year - if they get running properly on console!
