    Thanks for the video! NOW, I have to have one of these!! I am a 65 year-old novice welder that seems to find all kinds of things to weld, lately! I am also getting into stock removal knife making! I used to do all my knives by Blacksmithing but I became disabled and can't do a lot of hammering, now! THIS looks to be just what I need at a fair price that, if I save up for a bit, can afford! I think it will do a lot toward helping in the knife making, too!
    You showed some really great welds and the difference is noticeable! I think the Vulcan, as you say, if it holds up will be a great addition to my shop! Being able to weld so many ways and so many thicknesses is going to be a big help as I seem to see a trailer build in the future!
    Again, thanks for posting this video!
    KUDOS!

      Thanks for watching my video :)
      That's great you make knifes! It sound fun!
      I'm real happy so far with this welder, I like that it's a 120volt and 220 volt wire feed, plus you have stick if you need it, and the option to run a spool gun and TIG torch is nice, I as well don't have a lot of extra cash for toys, but it was time to upgrade welders and I'm happy I did, I always have something I'm building and my old welder even though it's still working good just did not have the amps I need for bigger projects.
      Keep up the good projects Kim :)

    thanks for the video I had been looking at this welder for a little while and decided to get it after seeing your review, used it this weekend on 56 f100 doing a corvette suspension swap.worked great so far went through the spool it came with ,with out any problems. just put on a ten 10 lb spool used the 20% off coupon that came in the box. so far I'm really pleased thinking of putting the little miller on craislist.

      I'm glad you found my video informative!
      I have been real happy with my Vulcan Omni Pro, I have not had any problems so far, It welds great, Even though we all know how to find the right settings on most welders and make them weld good for the proper thickness metal,
      I find it to be real nice and fast to just set the welder to the right gas, thickness of wire and gauge of metal and start welding! In my other video where I ran this welder side by side with my friends Miller Multimatic 200 it welded just as good, interesting thing to note is my friends Miller started acting up a few weeks after making that video, He had to send it in for warranty work and I think he as only owned it for like 8 months so far. I'm interested in what Miller did to repair it.
      Take care and I'm sure your going to be happy with your welder!

    I've been welding for 20 years and I'm a Miller guy but these new Vulcans look pretty good. Long term is my concern and that's impossible to tell without usage of course. Thank you for the videos. I like that you actually use it on a job instead of coupons. I mostly TIG and I'd like to see how these handle exotic metals like Hastelloy, Monel and Magnesium. I don't mean you need to do that lol. If people bitch about your welds just tip your hat and say good day. You do a great job. I'm still learning and I've welded every metal you can think of. Once you play around with Titanium it will change your life. Thank you for the videos. Keep on burnin!

      So far it's been welding great, Like you said long term will tell on how they hold up.
      With a little modifications I hooked up a Miller spool gun to it and it welds aluminum good.
      I just bought a TIG torch but I need to teach my self how to TIG weld because until now I just have never had the opportunity or a welder that could run a TIG torch. Thanks for your comments :)

      Brad Thompson I don’t own my 220 any more because I needed a TIG more so I now have the Vulcan ProTig 200. I think you probably are plugged into 120 volts? If so that’s all you can weld on 120V try plugging it into 240 volts. Let me know if that’s what’s going on?

I had not somehow inserted one wire in the new end of my 220. It was only getting 110. Guess it pays to not play with electricity at 2am, lol. Fixed though, thanks for your help. Your welcome! I have been on the fence for a year about buying a new welder.
      I was looking into the Hobart handler 190 but it was only a 220 volt welder and was about 80Lbs, I also thought about the Lincoln weld pack 180 but again it would only run on 220 volt.
      Then I saw these Vulcan welders came out and what they packed in them, plus they are inverter welders (120/220 volts) and spool gun ready.
      After looking at them in the store I felt there build quality was far better then any welder I have ever seen them sell. I kept looking for videos of people welding with them to see how good they worked, I decided finally to just go out and try one out, man I have to say it works better then the Lincoln 140 by far and runs as smooth as a Miller 180 I have ran many times in the past.
      I posted this first job working with it so others can really see one in action, as long as it holds up I will be happy with it!

      Mike festiva yep i saw that video too. Omnipro purchased. So far i like it. The auto settings seem to put out a lot of wire, so weld speed is much faster than I’m accustomed to. It will replace my hobart handler 135.

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  6 лет назад

      James Hale right on!
      I think you will be happy with it, I just used mine yesterday, I ran it on a long small extension cord so I could do some welding on my sawmill. I was a bit worried using any computer controlled welder with a long cord with the voltage drop but it welded great! Did you get the $100 warranty? If not I would recommend, just because it’s 3 years with no worries, and after talking with the people at HF it sounds like if you go in before the warranty is up in 3 years for another $100 you can continue another 2 years, I’m thinking of going that route, but that’s 2 years away from now. I really like this welder, it just does everything I need it to :)

    • @jameshale5684
      @jameshale5684 6 лет назад +1

      Glad to hear about extension cord performance. My hobart did not like extension cords when at the upper limit of its ability (which was most things I had to weld on using extension cords, trailers and what not). Yes, I did get the xtra warranty. I never do that typically, but being a new welder on the market and from harbor freight...seemed to be a good idea. Have you tried running on a generator with it? I was happy to discover my miller dynasty runs on my generac. I have not tried with the omnipro. Sometimes the switching power supplies and/or inverters are sensitive to dirty power.

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  6 лет назад

      James Hale I have not tried mine on a generator, I do know that most computers are sensitive to that stuff so it my not be so good??? I think I remember when these welders first came out I think I recall a guy posted a video on RUclips running one with flux wire and running it on a generator, you should look up and see if you can find that video, you may ask him if it caused any problems? I hate to say it but I guess you have the warranty if anything goes wrong? Let me know if you try it on a generator and how it works if you decide to try it?

      Just keep at it, you will get better with time and practice :)
      Just the other day I I gave a friend at my work a short welding lesson who had never welded before, I walked him through a few basics then let him lay down a few beads, and what I see most of the time is people will try to weld to quickly down the seam, they rush it, I coached him on a few simple things on slowing down and how to hold the whip, and in a short time he was doing great!
      I tack welded a table frame together then let him finish up all the joints and he did great! he even got to the point where he would look over some of his welds and could notice ways to improve his technique to get better.
      After he got the basics and a little simple coaching I had him start on that table when it was fresh in his mind and it really stuck with him getting all that extra practice on a fairly big job.
      Take care Curt :)

      The Vulcan actually has a lot more options, the one I didn’t think I would use but miss the most is auto set, it’s really convenient when welding different thickness of metal on the same job.

      james west I feel like the build quality is good, I have owned mine for 11 months now and have had no problems whatsoever with it. I’m really happy with it! I feel like it should be around for a long time to come. Being a inverter welder and newer technology I felt like buying the extra 2 years of warranty was a safe way to go, but like I said no problems so far. It MIG welds great, I don’t mind setting up a welder with wire speed and all that but I have to say it works real good on auto set! Of course you can easily fine tune it manually if you prefer. I would say if your considering one but concerned about problems, I would look up the reviews on Harbor freights web site and look over RUclips for problems. Let me know if you buy one, what you think of it. Take care :)

    Those lil Lincoln migpack 140s suck.. the titanium MIG-140 is a far better 140 inverter welder.
    These Vulcan 220s are excellent....
    I want one next. I own a Titanium Mig140 it's an excellent 110 volt welder. I now need a 220 volt. And the Vulcan 220 seems the best value. Otherwise it's a Miller 211..

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  7 лет назад +1

      I have had no issues with this welder yet. If I do fined any problems with it I will post a video of what I have found with it to let others know.
      I really like it so far, it MIG welds great, plenty of amps to weld anything I plan on welding. It welds good on 120 Volts too!
      For the money I feel it's a great welder, I have seen a few people complain about the MIG gun it's self not being built heavy duty,
      I feel the MIG gun is just as good as the Lincoln 140 if not better, as far a I see the gun is completely adequate for anyone welding with this machine. People like to pick stuff apart and complain about anythings.
      I took a bit of a gamble on buying one before I saw any videos of people welding with them, there's more reviews out now of people using them.
      Like I have said Time will tell on how they hold up, so I would recommend buying the extra 2 years making the warranty 3 years just to be on the safe side.
      I weld and FAB a lot of racks, tables and repairs at my work, this machine is completely capable of all the tasks right out of the box.
      If you buy one I bet you will like it.
      Take care

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  6 лет назад +2

      Hey Jesse I think you will be happy with it!
      You won't need to modify it to weld aluminum, you just need the spool gun they sell for it at Harbor freight, and a bottle of Argon gas.
      I made a adapter to fit a Miller spool gun to my welder, only because HF was out of spool guns at the time and my friend Dave had a extra gun for me to use.
      Are you going to be running it on flux core wire ( gas less) Or do you have a bottle of Argon/CO2 gas to weld with?

      Michael Rizzo Hey Michael my Omni 220 has been working great! I have not had any problems with it so far, I use it a few times a week on jobs around my place and it always surprises me how nice it welds. I mostly MIG weld with it, but I have done a little TIG welding on some stainless steel ( I’m new to TIG and have a lot to learn but it’s been fun to try out)
      I adapted a Miller spool gun to it for welding aluminum, it welds aluminum good as well, I have not tried out the HF spool gun with it but I’m sure it works fine, my friend gave me the Miller gun and it was easy for me to adapt to this welder so that’s why I went that route.
      I really feel like HF stepped up there quality on this welder, and it works just as good as my friends Miller but after hearing about my friends Miller warranty issues I feel even if you pay $100 for the HF warranty on this Omni welder it’s no questions asked if you do have a issue, you bring it in and walk out with a new welder! I know my friend with his $2000 Miller wishes his welder could be replaced with a new one because he keeps having problems with his Miller :(

    Great Video. I am also looking at trying one of these. I've always been a Miller man but for the price, I just have to try it. I'm interested in how you made the miller spool gun work with it. • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  6 лет назад

      Robert Boyer Thanks for checking out my video.
      I have been real happy with this welder so far! I made the spool gun adapter out of a solid piece of 1.1/4” aluminum rod, I bored it out on my lathe so the end of the Miller spool guns lead ( the part that goes into the welder) fit snug into the aluminum adapter and the o ring gas seals sealed good inside, then I drilled and taped a hole on the side of the adapter between the gas o rings to run a small hose barbed fitting for gas. I also drilled and taped a 1/4” hole for a small lock bolt to keep the adapter connected to the spool gun lug so it won’t just slip out, this is in a place that doesn’t interfere with the gas seals, then I drilled and taped the other end of the aluminum, this end is solid, I didn’t drill and tap it all the way through, this was where I bolted on the power lead and the other end of the lead was wired with a dinse plug, then I just plug the dinse plug to the front of the welder, hook up gas, set it to aluminum and I’m ready to weld. The cool thing about this is I don’t need to unplug my MIG gun and roll up the MIG wire I just unplug the MiG gun control wire and plug in the Millers control plug (yes they are the same size plug)
      The final thing I needed to do was reverse the + and - wired inside the Miller spool gun because it would turn the spool motor backwards.
      It all sounds complicated in writing but it was real simple to build. Like I said earlier, it’s nice because you don’t need to remove the MiG gun if you want to use the spool gun. I know one of my quad truck videos I show a quick shot of my adapter, I think it’s in part 2? Any how I hope this helps you out ;)

      I’m interested in the Omni pro, mainly for spoolgun welding aluminum. Is that not a good idea, since you’ve fabbed to fit millers spoolgun? Is the Vulcan spoolgun that bad? Also, Would you be interested in selling an adapter to run the Miller spoolgun?

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  6 лет назад +1

      So I mainly adapted it to a Miller spool gun because at the time I bought this welder it was new on the market and the spool gun was not available or in stock for the first month or two, Also my buddy Dave had an extra Miller spool gun that he gave to me and I really wanted to weld aluminum as well so I built that adapter and started having fun finally being able to weld aluminum!!! I have never used the Omnipro stock spool gun but I'm sure it will completely work fine, I think as long as your not using it daily welding aluminum boats for production it will be fine, It's not like I have a lot of experience with spool guns but I would say the appearance and look of the Miller is not that impressive ether compared to a 1970s spool gun at my work, but then again the 70s SG is big heavy and a bit bulky. I hope this info helps you out.
      PS If you really wanted to run the Miller I'm sure I could build you a adapter.

    That was more than a few minutes. It was 10 straight minutes of welding, making the duty cycle 100%. I have no idea what the rating is. It with have been nice if you had mentioned it.
    As for the sputtering, could easily have been you welding over slag rather than the arc getting weaker/colder.
    Bottom line: This is a hobbyist machine. Virtually no hobbyist will (or should) run a single weld for 10 minutes. You couldn't touch the metal...no telling what it did to the properties of the metal.
    For a hobbyist, a 60% duty cycle is **usually** going to be more than sufficient.

      "That was more than a few minutes. It was 10 straight minutes of welding, making the duty cycle 100%. I have no idea what the rating is. It with have been nice if you had mentioned it."
      Sorry I did not mention the duty cycle, If you really wanted to know you could have just went to the Harbor freight web site and checked like I did when I was thinking of getting this welder.
      I made the video and I know for sure I never welded for ten straight minutes nor did I ever say I did.
      I did not weld over slag because I did not weld with flux core wire, I welded with solid wire and Argon/CO2 mix shielding gas.
      Yes I know It's a hobby welding machine, I never bought it thinking I was going to be welding aluminum boats all day as a full time job, I bought it because I weld projects and things around my house and some jobs here and there.
      I however have really liked the welder so far and hope it holds up for years to come.
      Are you sure you commented on the right video?

    • @leer.9641
      @leer.9641 7 лет назад

      Mike festiva - The whole premise of the video was to see how long the machine would weld before stopping, making the mfgs duty cycle claim important. You had the manual, so something like, 'Vulcan claims an x duty cycle at y amps' would seem to be a logical thing to say.
      I'm not sure I understand what other reason there would be to make the video other than to see if the machine met Vulcan's claim, and you were in a position to let your viewers know that claim w/out us having to hunt it down ex post facto.

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  7 лет назад +2
