Thanks for a pretty thorough look at setting up this welder. I just bought one a couple of weeks ago and have been going through the process of getting what I need to make it work, such as having an electrician come out and run a dedicated 240 volt circuit for it and getting a bottle of argon as well as one of C25. As of Thanksgiving of 2023, these welders list for $1149 now. I was able to apply a HF no-exception 25% off coupon to my purchase so I was $922 out the door. Cheapskates don't include any wire these days. 😁
I just got one yesterday with the Black Friday Sale for $949. I had the Titanium 220 and was pretty pleased with it. I am amazed at how much better this Vulcan is. I also purchased the two year warranty.
Just bought a Omnipro 220. I’ve did some welding at my old job but never had my own for my garage. Next I need to get a bottle of Argon and a tig torch and pedal. Appreciate the information you provided. Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you my friend! God bless!
I ordered off Amazon and got the filled bottle.
I picked one up a few days ago. It replaced my Matco mig that I lost in the 2019 flooding. I was installing a plow on my truck and needed to weld two pieces of 3/8 inch angle to my frame. I don't have 220 in my garage yet so I needed something that was dual voltage. Without making any changes, I started welding and mid bead I honestly said to myself...WoW! I was so impressed with this thing on that thick of metal on 110 volts. I use Millers and Lincolns at work and like this thing better than any of 6 or 7 machines at work. I know it can weld, I just hope it lasts a long, long time. Our Millers and especially our Lincolns have had their share of breakdowns.
I know this is a old post but would you still buy it? I only have 120 at the house myself and was wondering if it would even be worth it.
@@EATSLEEPFARM So far, it is still doing good for me. I don't use it every day like we use the machines at work. But for home use, it does well for me. And I still haven't used it on 220v yet. I still want to buy the aluminum spool and tig kit for it. I'm hoping those work well for me when I do get them. So yes, I would still buy it.
Thank you for the follow up! @@stevekrewson9502
Thanks for the walkthrough. Ill be picking one up this weekend. Would love to know more about the tig setup.
also forgot to mention, if you sign up for the inside track club for $29 a year or $45 for 2 years, the welding wire gets heavily discounted like $20-30 for the $70 12 lb flux core wire. I'm gonna do that some time and just buy a bunch of wire to stock up, than drop my membership
Thanks for the info!
Hello:::Got mine today. Was wanting to see a FULL set UP !!!
Also found this out just now: 2 separate guys said they found open box omnipro 220's at the store. it was $350 for one guy and it was $450 for the other guy, but cashier asked if he was an inside track member and he was, so she gave him the welder for $250 !! all they did was buy the missing power cables and ground cables from the 1-800 number from the website
That's a great deal!
Great video
Got mine open box no cables for ...350. Called up HF bought the stuff/upgraded total like $450. All replacement parts can be bought.
damn, thanks I'm check that out. it's smart to buy parts for hoarding that will wear out like fans, and maybe the motorized feed systems if it's a cheap enough part
can you link to the type of air regulator you used?
AWESOME WELDER! - Had mine for 2 years and it beats some of the high end welders. I have a buddy who has 2 welders that were 2k or above and he used mine. He said that the Vulcan was absolutely surprising and excellent. SECONDLY - You can hook this to a 220v outlet. So you have 110 and 220v Options.
Best welder I've ever owned. Would highly recommend to anyone just starting out or seasoned. You won't be disappointed. I use mine for Automotive and Fabrication. Smooth as silk.
Still have it ?
@@aaronj9595 yeah. Still love it.
@@StageShout Nicee
@@StageShout thanks I’m probably going to get that one
I asked my welding instructor about this particular model and he only had good things to say about it. So I just bought one.
God bless u too
Great video
What is the MiG C100 process? You almost touched on it. Thanks
I just bought an Omnipro 220 today and all it does when I turn it on is run the fan and show the startup screen, that's it. I can't get it to do anything. It's stuck running the fan and the startup screen.....
One of the best reviews on this welder I've seen. You don't gush about it being the greatest thing you've ever seen, which makes me suspicious. Also, you let me know you actually know something about welding and you go over some of the features. Maybe the amperage is off on the stick for a reason. Maybe they have it programmed so high for people using 120. Using 120 for stick, I've found to be problematic if i have anything respectable in stick size.
Awesome video. Just picked one up with the same coupon.
Thank you! You will love it. Welds smooth. Had it for a few months now and have had zero issues with it.
Bought mine yesterday. Paid $774 after tax out the door
Had the employee use there own 20% off employee discount.
You will love this welder. It is OUTSTANDING! Tweak your settings the way you like - That's the only learning curve. If it's not welding well for you, it's all about the settings. Once you dial it in....Oh Man is it great! Smooth and Fun!
Any advice on the wire not feeding at all? I plugged everything in, turned it on and nothing. The cold wire switch won't work and neither does the mig trigger.
I saw on another video the point being made that you have to be sure to hit the confirm button when making your settings with regards to wire size, etc.
240v comment: Got ya. I went to check out a used machine, running one 120v gosh it felt gutless. He doesn't have the 240v plug. 😐 No deal, but I might try to use it as leverage to lower the price. Haha.
I would also be interested in the details on the cart.
I’m having a hell of a time setting mine up to burn 6010. I’ll turn the arc force off and the hot start up to about 8 and see if that helps. Thanks
I would turn the hot start all the way up.
Would u recommend buying for a mobile welder on jobs
For your outlet, what gauge wire did you use because the 220s plug reads 14g. I had a spool of 12/3 but figured I'd go 10 awg but then saw the plug and read 14 awg. I have way more 12/3 that's I'd rather use for length
Depends how far from your breaker box your outlet is but I'm more then certain that 14/3 or 12/3 is to small
Thats for refrigerators or microwaves . I would atleast have #10 wire like 10/3
I just saw this too. Does this means it maxes out at 20amps at 240? What size breaker/outlet did you end up using?
@@thedqhouse i ended up using a 30a 2 pole breaker, not a single issue and delivery is very smooth. (I believe its a 30a-ill have to look to be sure.)
Just bought this welder to build gates for the house. Thanks for going over the Mig settings. It was really helpful. Still would like to know when to use C25 vs C100. God bless!
Where did you get that welding cart ?
Harbor Freight.
I just got this 220 yesterday and just tried it out. I have no clue what I'm doing but it works. the cold feed wouldn't work for some reason, thought it was a lemon, but then I selected the flux core and I think selecting the mode first allows the cold feed switch to work, I don't know. what's really weird to me is : why is there no plug/ cover for the gas inlet? seems like that's really important in case some bug or something goes into that hole. also I used there $879 coupon . the helmet they wouldn't let me use the 20% coupon though, it was expensive , $150
I cannot get my cold feed switch to work either, at all, ever.
I had the same issue trying to figure out the cold wire feed thing. I will have to try to set it to flux mode first.
@@HairPompedHigh You can use flux or mig, but you can't stop at simply selecting the process. You then have to select metal thickness, then whatever it makes you select after that, and when it is fully ready to weld, then the feed switch works.
@@HairPompedHigh yeah it's weird, it should always work I think
I just picked up an Omni pro 220 and the max amps I get for stick is 80. I’m used to using miller machines around 120-124 just wondering how can I get the amps higher? It literally won’t go higher than 80. I am running it on 120v at the moment.
It's because you're using 120. You will need a 220 outlet.
Have you had any issues getting the wire roller motor to spin when you spooled up?
I threw a spool on, unspooling clockwise as instructed, set tension, etc etc.
The cold feed wire switch doesn't actuate the wire feed motor, nor does the mig gun trigger.
I just got this welder, and I am having the exact same issue. Trying to figure out why the cold wire feed switch isn't working, not engaging the motor. Wondering if I setup something wrong. But I followed all instructions for setting up for flux core. Any resolution?
@@HairPompedHigh I figured it out. You must go through all the selections all the way into a weld process. It was like three clicks THEN the roller switch works.
@@BryceStejskal Thank you! It worked. I didn't confirm all the settings first. I got inspired and just made a simple how-to video about it. ruclips.net/video/7sRz6xzDpK8/видео.html
Weird it says it can weld stick stainless but when I try stick it only allows me to select 60xx or 70xx series stick not 30x series stainless electrode rods.
You have to be kidding!! Do you weld for a living? You use XX18 setting 30x rods!
If you wanted to run .035 wire through this would you have to change the drive roll on it? If so how and where can I get a .035 drive roll? Any help is appreciated
No you would not. Just put in a new tip. I have .035 wire and it runs great. The machine has a setting for .035. Very user friendly.
@@TheCookFamilyHomestead ok thank you I was watching some other videos and they got to talking about changing rollers and stuff and I thought I walked into something I wasn't expecting lol thanks for the quick reply 👍
Just got one recently was trying to mig weld something with a 120v hookup, and nothing is happening. The near the voltage readout goes high, but the amps stay at zero.
That means I got a bad welder right?
It could. I've tried the 120 and it barely welds. Maybe would work for sheetmetal or body work. Only works on very low amps.
why does it keep tripping my breaker? What could be the cause? Please help.
If you are using it on 110, try using a hair dryer on hi or a toaster in the same receptacle to see if the breaker trips. if so- the breaker needs to be replaced or maybe there are other appliances on the same circuit and its being overloaded.
Can someone help? I'm mig welding with my new Vulcan and curious why mine only goes to 10 ga no matter what setting I put this thing on....also. what do I set my flow rate too on mig welding c25??? New welder here...sorry
No worries at all. I'm assuming your asking what you want your gas flow rate when mig welding. You can keep it the same on most stuff. I keep mine around 35 and it works great. I'm not sure why yours only goes to 10 gage. My guess is that you have the setting using lower wire (.025) maybe?
I have the same problem it only reaches 10ga
Are you using that 240v outlet you installed?
Every week. Multiple times each week.
@@TheCookFamilyHomestead right on
Why does the 220 volt cord set have a 50 amp plug on it but the cord only has #14 wire in it rated at 15 amps? Why----Chineseum?
Because all 220 volt cords have or should have 50 amp plugs. That is standard. But different machines can have different size wire depending on how many amps it draws. Not everything that plugs into 220 draws 50 amps. Confused by your question.
I am afraid that you are incorrect. There are a variety of 220Volt plugs that start at 15 amps and increase in amperage. The conductors in the cord must never be rated less than the circuit supplying the current. Big fire hazard.
@@jerrydemas2020 please show me where these have created a fire hazard. If these are "big" fire hazards you should easily be able to show me many examples.
The truth is that the plug works fine. There is nothing wrong with it and it meets all codes.
@@TheCookFamilyHomestead great video btw, I had the same question big ass plug with mini wire. I ran 10/3 when I could've run 12/3 much easier.
I bought the same one and the cart. I feel I need to use my new welder on the cart because it feels flimsy. lol
Is the TIG pedal necessary?
Only if you get a tight set up. If you only use mig or stick you don't.
You can tig without the peddle just makes it easier to adjust the voltage on the fly
Except aluminum tig you cant do that with the omnipro 220. I have the migmax 215, omnipro 220, and protig 205 and they all run great.
I heard the MigMax and pro rig are more reliable then the Omni
Actually you can do dc tig on aluminum it’s called heliarc. 100% helium and a thicker high quality tungsten. There’s all kinds of videos on here that show you can, just not for someone who is green on skills
It's now down to only 90 day warranty and you can pay for a 2 year max warranty :/
