The new KEF R Meta series of speakers pull in some amazing technology from the bigger siblings, the Reference Meta and Blade Meta speakers. With their 12th generation Uni-Q driver, you get an incredibly wide sweet spot and their fanatical dedication to cabinet design and crossovers, assures that you only hear the speaker.
The new R Meta models consist of 3 tower speakers, one bookshelf speaker, two center channels that can both also serve as LCR’s, and a cool new multipurpose speaker for Dolby Atmos effects.
We had a unique opportunity to speak with one of the KEF engineers to get the inside scoop on everything that is new for the R Series. They were also so enthusiastic about their technology, we learned some things we did not know before that carry over from the previous R Series that are pretty cool too.

The imaging on the uniq drivers are absolutely insane. I use a pair of LSX’s in my tv room and they literally envelope you in the music. You’d be hard pressed to think that whatever is playing is from just 2 speakers.

Very nice video and information on the new Kef line. In regards to the reference 1 meta, can you take a second to explain to me which base port, long or short, is more correct to the music? I know one, the long, goes lower in the range with some overhang, but the short one is more tight/dynamic and has greater punch. So which one is more accurate to the music?

Tech, tech, tech....descriptive words about the Ref. 1 Meta: like wide dispersion; dry, thin sounding and power hogs....what good is dispersion if the speakers are fatiguing? I found the earlier version at audio shows to be fatiguing and anonymous sounding (no personality).
