    Thanks for showing me how to take them apart. I soldered jumpers so that the speakers don't turn off when you connect headphones.

    My logitech z2300 side speaker died and I didn't find other ones to replace them 8 ohm, so can I use z130 instead ?

    Hex nut appears to be some metric size right between 3/8 and 7/16. However, I was able to get it out with my roommates 3/8 socket so that should work for yall as well.
    Also pliers will get the volume dial off, while scratching it a bit.

    This is exactly what I am looking for because I bought a set of these for my son and only lightly used but one speaker stopped working. I am thinking a wire may have shorted out so when I have time I'll open them up.

      Yeah, common issue. I fixed a set of these for my aunt, who had vacuumed up the cord and broke off the aux jack. Those now have super glue on one of the grills and a weird white cord for the aux.

    I've got two pairs of these speakers from work, about to be tossed. The both with the same problem: The 10 volt power input connector on the speaker appears loose. I'm going to attempt to remove the front panel leaving the knob attached and pull out the circuit board so I can resolder the power input connector. I'm guessing that is what the problem is. Any advice?
    Thanks a lot.

    storyline was promising but the end was weak :D you might consider using a better background and pro. other than that useful and necessary video.

    I had a set of these that suddenly the right channel (one with the volume knob) stopped outputting sound. Determined there was a break or a short in the 3.5mm plug that I could not diagnose - Probably the connector end. So, I replaced it with another 3.5mm wire I had kicking around. But, in all honesty - this part failed in like 6 months of extremely light use. Glad I could fix it. But, sucks that I have to pry the grille off and damage it to get these things open.

    Interesting. Was thinking about buying a set of small computerspeakers as I need one for a setup - just small speakers are fine. I bought Creative Pebble for another setup and I quite those but think they're on the bright side. On the positive side they're very powerful. Quess these are not that poweful as they use and old school analog amplifier chip (that's why it has heat sink). Wonder if these Z130 could be pebbed up with a PAM8xxx series class D amplifier chip? Perhaps with a booster circuit if voltage needs to be raised a little. Such modules are cheap on eBay etc but speakers need to be up to the task too..
    Wonder if there's any small but good computer speakers out there? Ideally I'm looking for something that packs a punch like if you took the Bose SoundLink Mini and cut it in half for wider stereo. But it's hard to find good ones. The Creative Pebbles are the so far best I've found but still a lot of room for improvement.

    Hi thank you for your post, in your video you removed the front grill so easy but i cannot do remove it, i think its glued or something, is it glued originally , PLEASE HELP

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628  6 лет назад

      Martin Martini, I knew someone would comment about this. I had already disassembled these and put them back together before the video. They are lightly glued on, so if you heat up the glue enough and pry, it may come off. Also, if you have a pointy enough screwdriver to fit into one of the small holes, you should be able to lever it of with the least possible damage. Do not use super glue to put it back on, it will leave a permanent white mark on the plastic. Use a silicone glue instead of it.

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628  6 лет назад

      Martin Martini I may also warn you, that if you use a large flat head screwdriver and pry it around the outside, it will leave a huge scratched up dent on the grill.

      Thank you DJIJ, to reply i think there is something hidden, as other hidden screws, which your video helped to find its, thanx again, my wishes for you and your channel.

      If you have a safety pin, or other similar object that can fit in the holes of the metal grill, you can use it to help take the grill off, even better, heat up the glue with a hair dryer at the same time, that way, you will not end up scratching, denting, or even ripping the grill,

    Good video DJIJ thanks and looking forward to the second part of that video. I purchased those speakers and I find it is lacking the bass (Woofers). So I am looking at making my own speaker boxes much bigger size and mounting the Logitech Speakers as tweeters inside the new box along with an added WOOFER that I already have and connect that 40 watt woofer speaker to the Logitech system using a two 50 Watt channel amplifier you can get for $30 on Amazon. I need that extra sound quality for my Playstation.

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628  4 года назад +1

      Yes, the components inside would act well as tweeters. The only other thing is that your speaker should have a way to filter bass out of the tweeter, which can be done with a capacitor.

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628  3 года назад

      It is the inside, directly on the metal. (So it WILL scratch. Be prepared.) Stick the tool as far DOWN as it will go, and use a narrow tool if possible. There is a small notch exactly at the bottom-most part of the grill. When unscrewing, be careful not to poke the speaker.

      just attempted to prise the speaker grill off the left hand speaker off of my Z130’s.. be dead careful when trying this as it will come away but for me it required some effort, I’ve ended up damaging & marking the surrounding bezel along with denting the grille at the bottom, the plan was to remove wire from inside to install under desk to hide wire & re affix, should have just snipped & spliced cable will I’ll probably end up doing as I didn’t remove grill in the end in fear of damaging speaker even further, I guess some will come apart easier than others 🙄

    im back again, Do you know anything about the speaker that controls the vallum not working?

    • @bugleboy5
      @bugleboy5 3 года назад

      Spray contact cleaner in the inside part of where the volume knob is. this is called a potentiometer. Contact cleaner & lube will bring this thing back to life! - Or its the audio 3.5mm cable / jack. Sometimes this fails. Rarely does anything else on these fail.

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628  3 года назад

      No, just use a flat head screw driver, get under it and pry up. It is fit inside with pressure.

    • @weaselhatgaming1010
      @weaselhatgaming1010 3 года назад

      @@djijspeakerguy4628 maybe on the older version, but can confirm new ones have glue. If you pressured through your glue, that's impressive!

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628  3 года назад

      Oh, maybe they changed it. I don’t actually think you totally have to remove that knob. If you take the front off without removing the knob, I think the circuit board would come off with the front, making it possibly a tiny bit harder to work with. But I do not think you’d break anything.

    when I compare the bass sound of my 5 inch coaxial speakers and my 15 inch subwoofer my 15 inch subwoofer has high amount of emotion but the sound is laggy and muddy and my 5 inch coaxial speakers bass sounds clean but it is thin and there is no emotion so now I only want to get the bass sound from my 15 inch subwoofer I'm guessing your small logitech speakers doesn't have any emotion

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628  6 лет назад

      tunic yeah, I agree with every single thing you said, I am getting the z623, Logitech’s THX system with a 7 inch (weird size) subwoofer tomorrow. I’ve seen that system rattle windows before.

      I am using the rockford prime 5.25 inch coaxial speakers the rockford prime 5.25 inch coaxial speaker is better then the z623 satellite speakers

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628  6 лет назад

      Yes sometimes size really does matter. The satellites do not have bass without the subwoofer, in fact you can not run the speakers without the subwoofer. You can though adjust the volume of the subwoofer down to 0. Then you hear the not-so-bassy sats , which have less bass than the z130s shown in this video, but go clearer.

      Even bad speakers have a use. These are common speakers at schools, where things are often low-price. These are even used by some musicians to test their recordings on to make sure their music even sound good on them, to make a good recording, along with their more professional gear. These may be computer speakers, but they are definitely not enough for gaming setups and things like that
