Revisiting World at War in 2023. This is definitely the darkest COD ever made. Twitter: / handler_yt Instagram: / handler_yt Music used: Call of Duty: World at War Soundtrack
This game is possibly the scariest cod game i’ve played back then. Those menu sounds, the startup, the zombies. I remember being really scared of nacht der untoten and the background noises of Verruckt. Memories, it’s definitely an amazing game.
I really wish they would make a remaster but keep it separate from the warzone scene so no bright pink glowing skins etc to ruin the spooky vibe. I'd even be willing to pay slightly higher initially for it to keep it out of the warzone world
Oh man! World at War. I picked this game up pretty late, around mid-2010. I remember the Campaign and playing it twice and getting different results depending on who I aimed at/decided to save and the differences blew me away as much as the MP40 and gore did in multiplayer back when people were still playing.
The menu music tells you all you need to know for what you're about to experience. It conjures up emotions of horror, evil, and hopelessness as well as anything I've ever heard. WW2 was sadly a real life nightmare.
This might sound corny but I feel like the essence of this game still immerses me so much that it makes feel like i’m genuinely in a war theater. The maps to me always felt like they could be genuine POIs or combat zones and not *just* maps.
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was absolutely outstanding about this game. The eerie atmosphere, the soundtracks, campaign, zombies, and of course the multiplayer. I’m glad I experienced this game in 2008 💔
This was one of my favorite cods. The campaign was awesome and so was the multiplayer. Though I did not get to play very much of the multiplayer. Awesome gameplay Handler!
MWII is my first cod but the creepy/anti-war by means of horror aspect of this game is super cool Would love to see something like this that really focuses on making it feel like survival in dystopia/the end of the world
i have to give you my thanks 🙏 my bro. all of these videos are just straight throwbykessss lol, i’m a HUGE fan of mw2, cod4 and WaW. idk what it was about them.. but THIS is what IIIIII call CALL OF DUTY. Straight forward. no EXTRA BULLSHIT. thanks man once again. now many youtubers doing videos like these/you are
I've never experienced combat but this game's atmosphere felt so visceral and true to the vibe of what WWII was probably like. It felt scary, it felt cruel. Also started playing this around the time i was learning about the war in school. Best WWII game in the series in my opinion and it's not even close.
My first ever CoD game... I remember when I played zombies in Nacht for the first time, it was so scary that I cried... that startup sound when you begin the first round gave me the chills. I also remember being so happy and relieved when I survived my very first round because I thought that was it. That I had completed zombies mode. Then I learnt it was an infinite game mode.
This game truly was one of a kind. Easily in my top 5 favorite CoD games. We never got anything like this ever again, and unfortunately, most likely never will.
MP40 legitimately had some damage modifier glitch that made it broken. Between that, the sights, the recoil, the mag size, etc. WaW MP40 is straight up one of the best CoD guns of all time, no contest.
Now THIS call of duty was also a huge part in my childhood because no one will ever forget hearing rumors from your friends at school saying when you beat the campaign, you get a secret game mode where you kill zombies and all of my friends would plan a weekly zombie day where we'd try to get further than last week and it was such an amazing thing to experience growing up, so it brings me so much joy seeing all my fave youtubers cover all the OG cods 🥹❤️🙏
man this brings me back to 7th and 8th grade when I would play this afterschool. This was right before GTA V and MW3 dropped. I would play this and gta 4 all day. Good times.
I can't believe i never played this one of COD4 in their primes. I somehow started with MW2, then Blops, skipped MW3, played Blops 2 for like 2 months then just stopped playing until the reboot MW and skipping Vanguard
This cod & cod3 were the first 2 cods I ever played on ps2. It fr changed my gaming experience bc i never played an fps game like those. & I've been playing cod ever since
Cod 4 was my first call of duty in the franchise I remember picking this game up at game crazy on launch day I was obsessed with WW2 at the time I think I was about 10-11 years old but this was peak cod for me
My first and favorite COD, so many great memories, coming back from school and hopping on it almost immediately. My friend was max prestige because his stupid mum never minded that he played 24/7 😂
Makes me feel 13 again like it’s back in 2008. I’m getting Giddy. I miss this game. Me and my dad got 10 prestige on an account then I made my own and got 10th prestige
Us getting WWII and Vanguard instead of a true World at War Remastered is insane. We deserved better. Hopefully one day they remaster WaW and Black Ops 1
aw man i didnt grew up on this game but thank god plutonium and steam sales exist cuz i played it a week ago and oh god thats one of the best cod multiplayer ive played (after bo2) still gotta try bo1. Yes i grew up on bo2 my uncle didnt have bo1 and also didnt know waw was the pilot for the black ops series lol
funny seeing how unaware the enemy players are in this xbox 1 version . go to a PC server and the regulars can some how see you from across the map without scopes . can barely move without getting picked off .
This was my first COD. It really is a pseudo horror game, they really didn’t hold back on showing the brutality of WW2. It feels respectful of how scary being in a battle is.
This has always been my fave cod. From the Campaign, to the MP, Zombies and ESPECIALLY the music. Oh my god it was haunting and nostalgic and cinematic all at once. Quote from Reznov which I think is appropriate considering the nature of this game.. "The path towards our glorious victory has been a journey of blood and brutality. All of it has been necessary. When the flag of our motherland flies atop the Reichstag, all of Berlin know that the evil of the Fascist Reich has been wiped from the face of the earth." Me.. Imma go play some WaW, thanks Handler :3
this is the best cod ever change my mind.. the eerie menu music, arms & limbs flying everywhere, the amazing soldier coms. they don’t make cods like this anymore boys 😢
Undeniably better then any of the garbage they put out today. Remaster this please. Don't change a thing just remastered graphics, HD audio, and modern servers and I'm happy.
Coming back to these older CODs and watching the success of battlebit should hopefully show developers that “realistic graphics” aren’t really necessary and often are detrimental to the core gameplay of a game.
Legitimately this game was way ahead of its time except for not having a camo drind but I loved the difficulty in it. Man I kinda miss the old days lmao
This game is possibly the scariest cod game i’ve played back then. Those menu sounds, the startup, the zombies. I remember being really scared of nacht der untoten and the background noises of Verruckt. Memories, it’s definitely an amazing game.
Most inconic FPS in history
only other thing that almost tops it is the bo1 zombies when you’re about to play and you’re in that chair haha
That…was…TREYARCH…
I grew up on this. I remember being 7 years old playing this. I would be scared but it’s still my favorite cod ever
2003 gang😎
I agree! Only I came out the womb a little sooner😂 95 gang😎
This game was so fun. You could lay in the grass with a guille suite and bayonet and get 20+ kills a game it was hilarious.
@@colecrum3542 hey man back then that was the shit😂 these of cods will always have a place in my❤️
@iRealTime for
The atmosphere this game had was so different man. Best COD ever!
The soundtrack playing during SnD makes the tone INSANELY different
If there is any COD that deserves a full remaster it's this!
Vanguard
@@bobbylabony4398 Vanguard will never be World at War you communist
Nah let's just fill these lobbies up
@@bobbylabony4398 Vanguard was dogshit. The most soft, pathetic woke nonsense game ever
I really wish they would make a remaster but keep it separate from the warzone scene so no bright pink glowing skins etc to ruin the spooky vibe. I'd even be willing to pay slightly higher initially for it to keep it out of the warzone world
My first CoD I got into. This game was truly magical.
World at War was my first online shooter. It holds a special place in my heart.
Oh man! World at War. I picked this game up pretty late, around mid-2010. I remember the Campaign and playing it twice and getting different results depending on who I aimed at/decided to save and the differences blew me away as much as the MP40 and gore did in multiplayer back when people were still playing.
Dam but old stuff to still good ngl
This was the first CoD game i ever played and its the reason why ive always been addicted to WW2 weaponry to this day.
This game legitimately scared me as a kid, never had another game make me feel the way this one did.
The menu music tells you all you need to know for what you're about to experience. It conjures up emotions of horror, evil, and hopelessness as well as anything I've ever heard. WW2 was sadly a real life nightmare.

This Cod hits different man
WaWs soundtrack is SO unmatched to this day, hearing it brings me right back to being a terrified preteen first discovering this game lol
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was absolutely outstanding about this game.
The eerie atmosphere, the soundtracks, campaign, zombies, and of course the multiplayer. I’m glad I experienced this game in 2008 💔

This game's soundtracks and story still gives me chills... freaking spooky!😂
This is the game that got me into COD. Glad you came back to it

The one I grew up with, gosh the memories. Now 30 and damn miss those days

I also remember being so happy and relieved when I survived my very first round because I thought that was it. That I had completed zombies mode. Then I learnt it was an infinite game mode.
Dude those artillery sounds scared the hell out of me, same with the dogs.
dude.. handler. thank you so much for this. one of my favorite COD games. so many memories!
This game truly was one of a kind. Easily in my top 5 favorite CoD games. We never got anything like this ever again, and unfortunately, most likely never will.
this was my first CoD game miss this so much lol the nostalgia is REAL!!! Great vid
Lol Knife Handler what a throwback, everyone needs to see his knife only gameplay.
The intro of gaming nostalgia and when the game's campaign was the best but terrified to play the zombies after completing the campaign.
Man, brings back so many memories and this CoD holds a special place in my heart… but MAN that netcode is BAD. Lol
im really enjoying ur og cods videos
What a classic, also that first song is chilling!
Easily my top 3 favorite cod. Also liked how it’s the only one where limbs go everywhere when getting blown up.
It’s crazy how far graphics have come in video games.
God the music of this game... really captures the darkest time in recorded history
Screaming "RELOADING" to the enemy team when you're last alive is hilarious lol
man seeing all of these OG CoD videos is just accessing these old memories
this was the game that got me into COD. will never forget the late nights playing this
MP40 legitimately had some damage modifier glitch that made it broken.
Randomly checking out WAW gameplay and notice I was playing with you in S&D last night!
This was the cod that introduced me to the cod series, this game was something else to behold to young me
the music is still terrifying lmaooooo
The shooting sounds used to sound so darn punchy! It's like a real PPSH firin across yer ear! On headphone at least
Around Halloween time it would be cool to see you try out CoD zombies on different games. If you'd be down for that, of course
Ahh the good ol MP-40 brings back soo many memories! The gun was too strong that with stopping power it’s a 1 tap to the head up to a certain range
man this brings me back to 7th and 8th grade when I would play this afterschool.
Playing zombies for the first time was so scary as a kid staying up late to play it with my cousin
This cod & cod3 were the first 2 cods I ever played on ps2. It fr changed my gaming experience bc i never played an fps game like those. & I've been playing cod ever since
That M1A1 carbine was so badass. Definitely my favorite gun from that game, and probably my favorite semi auto from any CoD.
jumps from 1 floor to a dirt spot almost died. In warzone jumps from a 3 story building, survives...
Jesus, the main menu screen used to terrify me. I miss this one probably the most; absolutely loved it.
Hands down one of the best Call Of Duty. Loved everything about this game.
This game and Call of Duty 3(ps2) holds a special place in my heart.
this makes me wish CoD: Roman Wars came to fruition. Would have been divisive and probably the most hated CoD, but it's an interesting hypothetical.
My friend was max prestige because his stupid mum never minded that he played 24/7 😂
as my first cod listening to the sounds is so nostalgic
"Juggernaut makes a huge differnce" welcome to the old cods again buddy.
Makes me feel 13 again like it’s back in 2008. I’m getting Giddy. I miss this game. Me and my dad got 10 prestige on an account then I made my own and got 10th prestige
Dude the flash back is real!!! Holy smokes! One of my all time favorite for sure.
my favorite COD, most memories, best maps, etc etc
YOU DEFEATED THE JAPANESE, KNIFE HANDLER! _AN OUTSTANDING MARINE YOU ARE!_
This games brutality got me into COD more than MW4.
To this day, this is the only game I have platinum trophy. Good memories. My favourite COD
Us getting WWII and Vanguard instead of a true World at War Remastered is insane. We deserved better. Hopefully one day they remaster WaW and Black Ops 1
This COS was scary for me back when I was 7😭😭scary for no reason but amazing
So many good memories. This rivals CoD4 in my opinion and is the most underrated CoD.
INSTANT goosebumps when the intro started
The artillery sounds are haunting
1:00 The PPSH was a hit marker machine in MP. By far the worst smg in this game in multiplayer.
aw man i didnt grew up on this game but thank god plutonium and steam sales exist cuz i played it a week ago and oh god thats one of the best cod multiplayer ive played (after bo2) still gotta try bo1. Yes i grew up on bo2 my uncle didnt have bo1 and also didnt know waw was the pilot for the black ops series lol
The last CoD I played before I became a Battlefield elitist. Good stuff
All I remember about this game is Kevin Costner just screaming in my ear constantly.
This is what I started on man this shit brings back memories fr
funny seeing how unaware the enemy players are in this xbox 1 version . go to a PC server and the regulars can some how see you from across the map without scopes . can barely move without getting picked off .
...what I would give to just be transported back to this time period in my life
I remember rapid firing so fast the game would automatically nerf you and lock you to a slow ass fire rate

Me.. Imma go play some WaW, thanks Handler :3
Even visiting this game now, it still have a sinister dark feeing about it. Top 3 best cods ever
this is the best cod ever change my mind.. the eerie menu music, arms & limbs flying everywhere, the amazing soldier coms. they don’t make cods like this anymore boys 😢
I absolutely loved this game, was my introduction to COD
Please remaster this game ❤ it would make me so happy
This was my first cod. Damn I miss this game
This was my first multiplayer cod. And it's still my favorite cod to this day
i miss this game so much. still my favourite cod to this day.
Undeniably better then any of the garbage they put out today. Remaster this please. Don't change a thing just remastered graphics, HD audio, and modern servers and I'm happy.

I miss when CoD games had that "war" feeling to them. Black Ops 1 was the last game to have that
the m1a1 was also my fav semi next to the ghewer
Damn just hearing the menu theme at the beginning is bringing me back
The nostalgia this game bring back is epic....they need to just remaster this game and maybe bump up the weapon selection and it would be gold
There was no "cool" factor to WAW, it just took itself seriously, and that's what made it the coolest game ever
i remember the console version being notorious for having a ton of hackers, wonder if that's still the case.
Best title for WAW
6:45 bro dropshot hella early and still got slapped 😂
I want a remastered version so freaking bad.
imo...best bare bones, no nonsense killstreak cheasing online COD ever.
Not surprising, given Treyarch tried to depict the darkest conflict in human history with actual accuracy.
Legitimately this game was way ahead of its time except for not having a camo drind but I loved the difficulty in it. Man I kinda miss the old days lmao
