This game is possibly the scariest cod game i’ve played back then. Those menu sounds, the startup, the zombies. I remember being really scared of nacht der untoten and the background noises of Verruckt. Memories, it’s definitely an amazing game.

only other thing that almost tops it is the bo1 zombies when you’re about to play and you’re in that chair haha

This game was so fun. You could lay in the grass with a guille suite and bayonet and get 20+ kills a game it was hilarious.

I really wish they would make a remaster but keep it separate from the warzone scene so no bright pink glowing skins etc to ruin the spooky vibe. I'd even be willing to pay slightly higher initially for it to keep it out of the warzone world
My first CoD I got into. This game was truly magical.
World at War was my first online shooter. It holds a special place in my heart.
Oh man! World at War. I picked this game up pretty late, around mid-2010. I remember the Campaign and playing it twice and getting different results depending on who I aimed at/decided to save and the differences blew me away as much as the MP40 and gore did in multiplayer back when people were still playing.

This was the first CoD game i ever played and its the reason why ive always been addicted to WW2 weaponry to this day.
This game legitimately scared me as a kid, never had another game make me feel the way this one did.
The menu music tells you all you need to know for what you're about to experience. It conjures up emotions of horror, evil, and hopelessness as well as anything I've ever heard. WW2 was sadly a real life nightmare.
This might sound corny but I feel like the essence of this game still immerses me so much that it makes feel like i’m genuinely in a war theater.
The maps to me always felt like they could be genuine POIs or combat zones and not *just* maps.

WaWs soundtrack is SO unmatched to this day, hearing it brings me right back to being a terrified preteen first discovering this game lol
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was absolutely outstanding about this game.
The eerie atmosphere, the soundtracks, campaign, zombies, and of course the multiplayer. I’m glad I experienced this game in 2008 💔
This was one of my favorite cods. The campaign was awesome and so was the multiplayer. Though I did not get to play very much of the multiplayer. Awesome gameplay Handler!
MWII is my first cod but the creepy/anti-war by means of horror aspect of this game is super cool
Would love to see something like this that really focuses on making it feel like survival in dystopia/the end of the world

I've never experienced combat but this game's atmosphere felt so visceral and true to the vibe of what WWII was probably like. It felt scary, it felt cruel. Also started playing this around the time i was learning about the war in school. Best WWII game in the series in my opinion and it's not even close.

My first ever CoD game... I remember when I played zombies in Nacht for the first time, it was so scary that I cried... that startup sound when you begin the first round gave me the chills. I also remember being so happy and relieved when I survived my very first round because I thought that was it. That I had completed zombies mode. Then I learnt it was an infinite game mode.
Dude those artillery sounds scared the hell out of me, same with the dogs.

The intro of gaming nostalgia and when the game's campaign was the best but terrified to play the zombies after completing the campaign.

MP40 legitimately had some damage modifier glitch that made it broken. Between that, the sights, the recoil, the mag size, etc. WaW MP40 is straight up one of the best CoD guns of all time, no contest.
Now THIS call of duty was also a huge part in my childhood because no one will ever forget hearing rumors from your friends at school saying when you beat the campaign, you get a secret game mode where you kill zombies and all of my friends would plan a weekly zombie day where we'd try to get further than last week and it was such an amazing thing to experience growing up, so it brings me so much joy seeing all my fave youtubers cover all the OG cods 🥹❤️🙏

Ahh the good ol MP-40 brings back soo many memories! The gun was too strong that with stopping power it’s a 1 tap to the head up to a certain range
man this brings me back to 7th and 8th grade when I would play this afterschool. This was right before GTA V and MW3 dropped. I would play this and gta 4 all day. Good times.

That M1A1 carbine was so badass. Definitely my favorite gun from that game, and probably my favorite semi auto from any CoD.

Cod 4 was my first call of duty in the franchise I remember picking this game up at game crazy on launch day I was obsessed with WW2 at the time I think I was about 10-11 years old but this was peak cod for me
My first and favorite COD, so many great memories, coming back from school and hopping on it almost immediately. My friend was max prestige because his stupid mum never minded that he played 24/7 😂

Us getting WWII and Vanguard instead of a true World at War Remastered is insane. We deserved better. Hopefully one day they remaster WaW and Black Ops 1

funny seeing how unaware the enemy players are in this xbox 1 version . go to a PC server and the regulars can some how see you from across the map without scopes . can barely move without getting picked off .

This was my first COD. It really is a pseudo horror game, they really didn’t hold back on showing the brutality of WW2. It feels respectful of how scary being in a battle is.
This has always been my fave cod. From the Campaign, to the MP, Zombies and ESPECIALLY the music. Oh my god it was haunting and nostalgic and cinematic all at once. Quote from Reznov which I think is appropriate considering the nature of this game..

Undeniably better then any of the garbage they put out today. Remaster this please. Don't change a thing just remastered graphics, HD audio, and modern servers and I'm happy.
Coming back to these older CODs and watching the success of battlebit should hopefully show developers that “realistic graphics” aren’t really necessary and often are detrimental to the core gameplay of a game.

Legitimately this game was way ahead of its time except for not having a camo drind but I loved the difficulty in it. Man I kinda miss the old days lmao
