- With these seedling pots you can put the plant into the ground with the pot, making the change easier on the plant. This was the first method we used. The main steps:
Tear up paper or cardboard into small pieces
Soak paper or cardboard for at least 24hrs
Blend (you may use any blender), what you see in this video is a drill bit made to mix paint that you can find in any hardware store but it is not necessary you may do with a regular blender, a little bit at a time so it doesn't overheat or burn out.
I added regular flour (the white powder you see in this video) in the mixture in case it needed some kind of glue.
I now use another method which you can watch here: • DIY recycled paper see...

This was very helpful for our project!
Not the same materials/ingredients but still very handy/helpful
Thanks so much for writing, very happy to know it was of help, we did a second tutorial with a different method should you care to watch. Thank You, Best!
Okay lng po kahit hindi na eh blend? If white paper yung gagamitin?
Won’t adding flour to pot lead to fungus growing when seedling is watered? Also are these pots able to withstand water? Won’t it break down?
Dear P N thank you for your precious comment, yes, flour might facilitate the growth of fungus depending also on environment conditions: overall humidity, temperature, how often and how much you water your seedlings. We published another tutorial on these pots without the use of flour DIY recycled paper pots 2 ruclips.net/video/QBz4z5QKQM8/видео.html . Yes the pots withstand water for the time it takes for the seedling to be grown enough to put into the ground. They will eventually break down but that is the point, this way seedlings may root without much trauma and eventually break up the pot that biodegrades into the ground.
Bed & Breakfast del Villaggio Verde thanks for the elaborate reply. 😊
Once we start using it, i.e. we add soil and water into it and start growing plant in it, how long does this pot survive?
In my experience as long as it takes for you to transplant. I've had some last for even a year before transplanting...
@@liladivineplay3855 do you plant the seedlings together with the pot in the ground? If so, how long does it take to decompose? Will the roots of the plant be able to grow thru the pot once placed in the ground?
@@jackkicevo yes, i plant seedlings with the pot, i wouldn't know how long it takes to decompose, but I can tell you the roots of the plant are able to grow and I have not noticed signs of distress in the plants.
U can sell these right???
Hello! I was just wondering what mold you used and does this work with when I replace with plant fibers? Thank you 😁
Dear Caitlin, thanks for your comment, the 'mold' could be any container that has the dimension you need. I used plastic pots and seeding trays in the video. I'm not sure what you mean by: "when I replace with plant fibers", which plant fibers?
What is the proportion of flour to the paper?
I would say a cup every kg, if you use the casting method (the other video we published about recycled paper seedling pots) you may do without, sometimes flour may facilitate the growth of molds..
Ok. Thank you. God bless
What is that white powdery you mixed in?
Hello Maristela... Regular flour... Best!
@@liladivineplay3855 would corn flour work?
@@snushiess yes, you may also do without flour at all, we published another version of this process here: ruclips.net/video/QBz4z5QKQM8/видео.html
Need to leave it how many days?
Hello Christine! I'm sorry but I think I need a few more details to understand your question. Need to leave what how many days? the pulp? or the pots to dry?
I would like to know how much time it takes to dry
@@noemietoulouse6190 Hello Noemie, mine took about 24hrs in a wooden stove oven at about 50 centigrade, I also left some to air dry in our greenhouse and those took 2/3 days to dry... hope this helps!
@@liladivineplay3855 is that flour you mixed in to the cardboard mush???? would have been a good idea if you had said or written in the comments the recipe a d what you did to make the pots
@@libbyreesbarresi7459 Thank you for your comment, will do....
What was the powder you added
Its wheat flour :)
Bed & Breakfast del Villaggio Verde whats the reason behind adding wheat flour?
It binds the fibers together
@@tomk1974 can I use all purpose white flour?
cocaine
What are the proportions?
hello dear, proportions of what? water to cardboard? i would say enough to cover it, in this video i added flour but it is not necessary and makes pots more prone to molds so i would suggest using only cardboard and water.
You should've added Eggs to the Mix... ;-)
Dearest, thank you for your comment, no need for eggs, on our second tutorial we use only paper & water. Time is always dedicated to ponder the need for things and the resources used.

too much work for something thats going to break down into the soil, easier to use toilet paper rolls or newspaper pots also adding flour susceptible to mould/mildew, flour is not good for the soil either, it can further compacting of soil.
Yes like everyone has one of those high powered blenders lol but great idea
Hello Marlene, thanks for your comment, it's a regular drill with a drill bit to mix paints (available in any hardware store) the blender is a regular blender, nothing special. Thanks!
