Dude! I just recently cane across your videos. Fun to see what you find. Can you show what you have at some point? I love to see what people play.

Thanks! I made a playlist for guitars and one for string changes on my channel. I'll try to parade a few out in one video sometime. I can definitely do my top 5, the keepers, that'd be fun. Thanks for the suggestion. Cheers!

Interesting video, particularly as I have been friggin around with Yamaha guitars lately. The FS 800 has scalloped braces , unscalloped on the FS 700. Hadn't known about the differences in body depth. I had a FS800 Sandburst earlier this year that was fun. As far as playing thru mistakes, I was taught the your audience only hears the starts and stops. I picked up a used A3R this weekend from the estate of an old playing buddy. It is a smoking Yamaha. The only downside is the narrow string spacing, like the FS800. I put new EJ16s on it, and its really good, and I don't generally like dreads.

Excellent, thanks for the scalloped clarification. I recall a poll that determined people mainly hear the beat more than melody or words etc., so we're working against the tide as guitar players. I played some A series Yamahas recently and found them to be really nice. A 1, 3 and 5. I didn't give them much of a second chance once I had the FS5 in my hands. That was special. Cheers!

Coincidently I had just pulled out my FS 720s (same as the FS700s but with the "undesirable" white binding all over) from the closet tonight to compare it to some other guitars. I picked it up used, maybe 10 years ago; thought it was pretty good and bought a sunburst FS700s for my daughter - very nice looking guitar. Tonight when I played my FS 720s, I was less impressed. It sounded a bit boxy, but not in a good way. Interesting to hear that the FS800 is lighter, slimmer and thinner - sounds like it would make a good couch guitar. After you get more time with the FS700s, it would be good hear your thoughts between the two.

Excellent. Heh, undesirable to you, or b/c I mentioned not liking it? I have the same boxy experience with the 700s here, but, when listening to the video I thought it sounded better than I experienced playing it. Weird. So far, the 800 is a few lengths ahead. I highly recommend trying one out. Cheers!

Just picked up one of these. The nut is broke off on low E side and generally chipped up. I may have original string.s too. Do you know the year of mfr. I think mine is 1991??

Excellent, easy fix. I don't know the year but I'm not sure they were early 90s guitars, maybe early to mid 00's until they went to the 800 series in 16 I believe? Hope you like it!

    Does a 2016 have scalloped bracing ?

I believe the 700s do not and the 800 series does.
