The game hasn’t been in constant development between the different devs. It’s more a case that different devs all tried to make their own games all titled Dead Island 2 while all the previous ones got cancelled. In this Case Dambuster built this version from scratch starting when they were given the project in 2018. It’s similar to Human Head Studios and Arkane where Human Head were working on a new game in the Prey IP before it was cancelled and then Arkane ended up making Prey (2016) which had no real ties to what Human Head had been doing.

The lack of open-world exploration is definitely a con for me, but the new advanced gore system, high quality and resolution assets and environments and 10 distinct and unique districts, are enough to keep me invested in Dead Island 2. I think it'll be a different experience to Dead Island, but one most will be willing to give a chance, especially given the 10 years of time between the sequel and initial releases.

Meanwhile, to the early adopters, thank you from the bottom of my heart for buying this early on EGS, funding further development/optimizations, and helping to test and bugfix what I am pretty sure will be the best entry in the franchise thusfar. You EGS folks are really awesome! I've owned the original two mainlines plus the remasters and I am thoroughly amped to play this game in a year or two, at a likely lower price, and definitely on better hardware than what I currently have!
Let’s not overhype or have massive expectations, games like anthem and Cyberpunk were good signs that we need to always be skeptical, no matter how much faith we have that it’ll be good.
Appreciate the video. Already Pre-ordered and no... I usually NEVER pre-order a game. A zombie apocalypse during current day vs a dystopian future... hmmm. That is where Techland made a mistake. The now legendary game, Dying Light, was also current day. And it does make a difference.
It being not a true open-world is fine, just hope it's not too linear either. The semi-open-world take of the original game felt better than making the whole map traversable without loading - quality over quantity is always better - but quality must be really that high for replayability purposes.
It doesn’t have to mean anything gameplay wise but having a day and night with a sleep at night option wouldn’t be too bad. Just for emersion. But I don’t mind because the flesh system makes up for that.
Not really mate. How in any way have you experienced this? By playing Dying Light 2? The only comparison with both games is the fact they have zombies in. Weapons, mods, characters, story, area.. guns.. no parkour. Not open world but linear..
I hope the weapons play more of a part, I completed the first one by just kicking everyone which got the job done and was far more effective than most of the weapons.
Everything sounds fine minus the lack of a open world on a single huge map is disappointing imo. I don't mind big zone areas like in borderland games but if they too small and very linear then that's sucks imo. I'll probably wait for a sale instead if that's the case.

use a vpn to buy the game
@@bbqdsushi2585 no shit Sherlock. It’s still a dumb thing to do… I mean they didn’t censor tlou part 2 or dead space but dying light and dead island are censored.. that’s just ridiculous.
@@ashyslashy9110 you know how to solve all your problems? Don’t be a German. Your parents are to blame
“And then the waiting began” **tree falls and helicopter crashes**
This game wasn't even on my radar now Im highly interested
I wish games like these offered modes that would disable showing you numbers popping off of zombies after every swing
15-20 hours of gameplay for a $70 is tough
Oh thank god. I thought I couldn’t play with my friend on the ps4 but this has just made me so relaxed
Will it have free upgrade from PS4 to PS5? I can't find information anywhere
It’s the same price for PS5 and 4 so probably
is there any of the ps4 phycical version free to upgrade to ps5 ?
Will you need to be a certain level to use guns and other weapons.
The lack of open-world exploration is definitely a con for me, but the new advanced gore system, high quality and resolution assets and environments and 10 distinct and unique districts, are enough to keep me invested in Dead Island 2. I think it'll be a different experience to Dead Island, but one most will be willing to give a chance, especially given the 10 years of time between the sequel and initial releases.
there's open world exploration lmao it's just like the first dead island. it's called semi open world, and it helps the devs put a LOT more detail into the maps. trust me, it's a really big positive.
i was really looking forward to this but have just seen that it isn’t “open world” and people are still saying it’s good how?
what is having a boring open world gonna do?
@@LilMissSmartyPants.922 just feel like it’s gonna be limited with what you can do and that there will be no freedom
I was looking forward to this game. I think I’m gonna pass and wait till it’s on sale. Looks so lack luster
i just wanna ask can u play with ps4 and ps5 players in multiplayer
Looks fun, I don’t know why the PS4 version is 69.99 tho.
It probably gives you the ps5 version too so when you upgrade to ps5 it'll probably be free
I, and I am sure many others are very excited to play the best version of this when it releases on Steam in a year or two.
Oozing with ego here. Take a chill pill and go wash your ass
Let’s not overhype or have massive expectations, games like anthem and Cyberpunk were good signs that we need to always be skeptical, no matter how much faith we have that it’ll be good.
thank you for letting us know there is another part of dead island
I’m curious about the optimization on the series S
So basically this will be a Los Angeles life sim.
Appreciate the video. Already Pre-ordered and no... I usually NEVER pre-order a game. A zombie apocalypse during current day vs a dystopian future... hmmm. That is where Techland made a mistake. The now legendary game, Dying Light, was also current day. And it does make a difference.
So we've waited YEARS to get a smaller, linear game? I was gonna buy this but now I think I'll wait for a price drop
Dead island the other 2 games where the bested open worlds and could drive
Well, what I'd like to know is steam availability? That's all I'd like to know
Ah damn, I already bought it before watching this video, I'm doomed?
Hopefully it’s open world enough I just want to see if it looks like irl
oh yeah it's open world enough, it'll be just like the first game.
@@Ezdine_G8261 they said it will be more linear, the first game had vehicles this one doesnt
The first was pure open . The dumb asses who done relize the diffrence will try to justify the shity take and 70$ shit tag
cant wait for this game
It being not a true open-world is fine, just hope it's not too linear either.
The semi-open-world take of the original game felt better than making the whole map traversable without loading - quality over quantity is always better - but quality must be really that high for replayability purposes.
it will be very similar to the first game don't worry
@EzdineG how do you know?
It doesn’t have to mean anything gameplay wise but having a day and night with a sleep at night option wouldn’t be too bad. Just for emersion. But I don’t mind because the flesh system makes up for that.
If dying light 2 hadn’t released; perhaps I would be more excited. I feel like I’ve already experienced most of this.
I feel like this will be exactly like Dying Light 2 without the parkour....just more characters to play as.
Nice this just seems like another back for blood . And we all know how that turned out
I have a feeling this is going to get 6s and 7s.
Everything sounds fine minus the lack of a open world on a single huge map is disappointing imo. I don't mind big zone areas like in borderland games but if they too small and very linear then that's sucks imo. I'll probably wait for a sale instead if that's the case.
It looks like dying light without the parkour and less freedom.
Oh? It's exclusive to EGS? Guess I am sailing the high seas then
Can’t wait to play this awesome game. Debating what edition to get 😂
Deluxe is the safest route, you get memories of Banoi Pack, and have an edge with better weapons/outfits packs from the classic game
@@roythegracious won’t there be enough weapons we can craft from the beginning? Lol
@@rickjames547 alot of these weapons will be objective/mission based but there are only DLC weapons that standard version will not have.
@@roythegracious oh gotcha
I got the HELL-A edition preordered at GameStop. Really looking for to the early release tomorrow night.
Glad I watched this before buying lol I didn’t know it wasn’t cross play :( I want it on ps5 but most of my friends play Xbox lol
I'm not paying $70 bucks for a 15 hour game I think I'll wait on this
Yes thank you, finally someone with some sense.
I mean ps5 games on drop are starting to become 70 dollars but wait for a sale if that works best for you it’s not shame!
@@tonyblocker6765 you mean finally a fellow poor guy.
@@Flaggyt that is such an uneducated response just because I'm not going to pay $76 bucks of my hard earned money on a 15 hour game makes me poor sorry but some of us like to get our money's worth when we buy stuff but you go ahead and continue being the 🐑 you are big companies count on people like you to line their pockets 😅
Sure but you pay 70$ for Jedi and its only 15h and no co op... Dead Island 2 with side quests is about 25-30h
Idk how I feel about it being "more linear" I don't think I like that idea tbh
I put over 1000 hours in the first 2 games on 360 so I’m READY FOR THIS 😱
